Now here's a book with an interesting premise. Something mysterious lurking below the ground, attacking a mining party. Well. This story develops into something that feels rather too conveniently created. Unrealistic. Every explanation fits kinda too perfectly. The story doesn't feel...well...organic, so to speak. The characters, however, do. Scott Sigler has done a tremendous job of briniging a cast of different humans alive and making the reader feel attached to them. The reader worries about their every move, hopes for them not to die, and Imust confess that it's not easy to make me feel emotionally attached to a character. Part of that is surely due to the writing, because Scott Sigler does a tremendous job with that too. It's fast paced and intense when it needs to be, and at times the opposite of that. All at the right moments in the story. Well. The plot though, drags it down quite a bit.

Mit diesen aussergewöhnlichen und plus den sehr menschlichen Widersachern ergibt sich nach langer Einführung ein spannender Krimi bis zur letzten Seite.
