YA Horror, heavy topics, creative worldbuilding, important discussion about racism, homosexuality, homophobia, child abuse, bullying, mental health, school shootings. What could have been better are the horror elements, the relationships between characters, the queer romance and the ending.

Everything turns ugly after it’s dead.“ „It’s amazing how many people don’t wanna look racist and how few care about actually being it.“ „The trouble with my mother is she’s too busy pretending problems don’t exist to ever really fix them.“

TW: G3walt, Bl00d, s3xuelle B3läst!tung,D3ath Absolut großer Spaß an Horror und hitziger Spannung bis zur letzten Seite. Wir begleiten Jake Livingston in seinem High School Alltag, während Ghoule und allerlei Geister ihm nachstellen. Natürlich darf sein Love Interest nicht fehlen, der meiner Meinung nach auch super zu Jake passt. Auch gaben die finalen Kämpfe der Story ihre verdiente Action. Es gab mehrere Ohje!- Momente, aber auch wow! - Momente. Das worldbuilding war gut, auch wenn es wenig war, wurden die Orte so weit gut beschrieben; es war beabsichtigt so wenig wie möglich zu beschreiben, damit sich der Leser ein eigenes Bild machen kann "Vorstellungskraft".

I feel like this book had a strong start, but since many things were left unexplained I felt a bit lost while listening to the audiobook. I would definitely recommend reading this book physically, as it might give the reader a better opportunity to really take in all the elements of the story, but I do think that some paranormal things should have been explained in more detail for the book to really have its effect.
