Ich mochte wie die Autorin die Welt in der Amara lebt für den Leser beschrieben hat, denn da konnte ich mir sehr gut hineinversetzen. Ansonsten hat mich der Schreibstil nicht wirklich mitgerissen. Eigentlich dramatische und aufwühlende Ereignisse haben sich stumpf angefühlt und mich eher kalt gelassen. Vom Plot habe ich mehr erwartet, gerade auch wegen dem Klappentext, was mich schon etwas enttäuscht hat.

Elodie Harper may as well have lived when Pompeii wasn't a morbid tourist attraction, that's how immersive her writing is. The story grips you right from the start and twists your heartstrings when reading about all the horrible things these women go through. It's the perfect mix of hopeful optimism and tragedy. I also couldn't tell which way most situations were gonna go due to this exact blend. We're in Amara's head the entire time and the environment she's in is so entirely unpredictable that anything that happens to each of the women around her could end in success or complete devastation. Definitely keeps you on your toes. I'll definitely finish the trilogy once it's finished!
