In this MG novel, 11-year-old Dany and their legal guardian Marisa are on the run from evil scientists who want to vivisect Dany to study their superpowers. But as the trip progresses, Dany realises that Marisa has been keeping some secrets. I read this in one sitting after coming across a link to the online version. It's a gripping read, with a real and growing sense of tension and uncertainty as Dany - and the reader - try to figure out what's really happening. The writing is excellent, with a believable pre-teen voice and a disciplined style that never gives away more than it needs to. I would love to read more by this author.
