[This review contains a huge spoiler!] I have quite a difficult relationship with King novels. I really like his newer works. Joyland was actually the first King I read ever (besides his short story "The Body") and it was really amazing. Same goes for 11/22/63 (go read it, if you haven't already!). As for his older works - I read It last year and I thought it was very well written with loveable characters such as Richie. But ... for the last 100 pages or so, I was constantly thinking how an author can write such crap and such ... nonsense. Like, it wasn't scary or horrifc AT ALL. It was just ... nonsense. Before reading Pet Sematary I heard many people saying that it is the single most horrifc book they ever read. Um, well ... I am a person who freaks out quite easily so I've been waiting for the pure horror to appear in this book, but it was just ... boring? Predictable? Annoying? I can't really tell. It's well written though and I really liked the ending (the whole 'Despite the fact that everything went horribly wrong when I first buried a person up there, I'm still going to burry my wife at the exact same place.'). And that is, to be completely honest, the only reason why this book got 2* instead of only 1*.
My most loved nightmare
I‘ve read that book many times in german - and I love it! So I just had to try it in english - and yes, maybe I was manipulated by its beautiful cover. I think its good that I knew the story before as I did not understand every word, but I felt as touched and terrified as in german. I will definitely read it again!
Woah...What a rollercoaster ride in last 20 chapters
■ “All I know is that Pet Sematary is the one I put away in a drawer, thinking I had finally gone too far.” - Stephen King. ■ Wow, downright creepy, disturbing, and unsettling. I loved it. King himself refers to Pet Sematary as the most frightening book he’s ever written - and I can see why. ■ Foreshadowing at its finest. Great use of foreshadowing techniques throughout the book, which helped build suspense. ■ The ending
I liked it very much...a Stephen King classic wonderfully spoken. I had the feeling as if I was part of the little town, so lively did the story become because of these talented speakers. This audio book makes you dive into a really creepy and dark world.
Dr Louis Creed has recently moved from Chicago to Ludlow with his wife Rachel, their children and pet cat. Near their house, local children have created a cemetery for the dogs and cats killed by the steady stream of transports on the busy highway. Deeper in the woods lies another graveyard, an ancient burial ground whose sinister properties Louis discovers when the family cat is killed.
I’d sadly seen both movie adaptations for this and I desperately wish I hadnt. Even though I already knew the fate of the Creed family, it didnt make it any less heart wrenching. Builds slowly and then packs a heavy punch in the last 100 pages, right to the gut.
i was thoroughly entertained

Pet Sematary has been one of my favourite King books for years and years but this time, having a 2 year old boy myself now, I almost couldn't bring myself to finish it...
I read this novel years ago but it is one of my most favourite novels written by Stephen King. I have this problem with Stephen King novels that his stories are really compelling but on the other hand I am disgusted and scared. Thus, I am always on the edge between continuing and not going on reading the book. The story of pet sematary is written in such a great way that you are really afraid that this might be real. It does not seem to be supernatural even though it is. It is scary to imagine the once dead cat that comes back to the family and behaves not as it used to before its death. Every time I was reading by night I was so scared that I did not want to turn off the light afterwards. But this book is not just about the story of something supernatural. It talks a lot about human feelings and the way we humans deal with dead. When Louis’ son dies, Louis is willing to sacrifice everything just to get him back. Who would not feel like that after the loss of a close family member? I think, in this situation we would all wish for a way to bring the dead person back to life and would take the chance when it would arise. Even though, Louis was aware of the fact that animals and people buried in the pet sematary come back differently and are strange and dangerous, he cannot stop himself from burying his son there just to get him back. Even when he sees the consequences of doing so, he doesn’t really seem to understand and reacts in the same way when his wife is killed by his revived son. The novel outlines in a great way how helpless we are in situations of death. We turn into complete strangers and start acting in new strange ways that just make sense for us but for nobody else. As a reader, we can totally understand why Louis is acting like that. We can feel his desperation and wish for him that he’ll get his son back the way he was before his death. Pet Sematary is a great novel demonstrating how difficult it is to deal with feelings about the loss of a close person. This is also embedded in a great plot and written in such an exciting and compelling way that you cannot stop reading even though you do not want more than escape from this cruel world. A real page turner that I can recommend to all horror and Stephen King fans. Especially with regard to the upcoming halloween season, this is a great book to read!!!
