Celaena's struggles and triumphs make her a believable and admirable protagonist. What I also particularly liked about the book was the different POV’s. That you also have insights into Dorian's and Chaol's thoughts. (And even Kaltain, who I don't really like, but with whom I did have some sympathy at the end when she was really betrayed).

Oh my god! I am totally exhausted😭💕. I can’t believe it’s over now .. This book is awesome , everything is perfect. How all these stunning characters worked together , how everything fits perfectly together . S J Maas wrote a fantastic end to this amazing series. It is all I hoped for! Now I need time to recover from this breathtaking ending 😭❤️. And I hope that there will be one (or more) sequels to read more about Aelin Ashryver Whitethorn Galathynius and the other amazing characters. To whatever end.

Throne of Glass war ein wirklich toller Start der Reihe und hat mich bis zur letzten Seite gefesselt. Erst hatte ich einige Probleme um mit dem Schreibstil klarzukommen doch mit der Zeit ging es schließlich. Meine einzige Kritik war wohl, das es stellenweise doch etwas langatmig war doch das empfand vielleicht nur ich so.

I think I'm gonna need a minute -or week- to recover from the fact that this story is over. I can safely say that I have never before experienced a better world building, better character development, better story telling.. Never been more emotionally drained, anxious to continue reading, excited for characters and so utterly impressed of the way a story was written. A court of thornes and roses is a joke compared to this masterpiece! ✨️

I started TOG after finishing ACOTAR, which means my expectations have been more than high. I heard so many different opinions and I have to say, I did love it. I loved Celaenas character from the first character and slowly started to fall in love with Dorian and Chaol the same way. The female assassin trope intrigued me a lot and who can say no to a strong FMC? What I did like very much was the fact, that the reader got to know exactly what’s going to happen toward the last trial and I felt beyond anxious to read that chapter. The hate I felt for certain characters is beyond me and at the end of the day, that’s what makes a good book: Causing you to feel all the feels. However at times it did feel a little slow and I wish certain topics, for example the magic, would have gotten more attention and explanation. Since it’s only the first book in the series, I’m looking forward to (hopefully) get my questions answered in the next ones. Altogether I’m happy I started the series and I’m going to continue with the next book straight away.

Dieses Buch hat mich von Anfang an in seinen Bann gezogen. Ich mochte die Protagonistin (Celaena) sehr und mir hat es sehr gefallen in ihrem Kopf zu sein. Die Handlung fand ich auch von Anfang an spannend, nicht so wie bei A court of thorns and roses. Den Aspekt des Wettkampfes gefiel mir sehr gut, aber am meisten mochte ich die Dynamik zwischen Celaena, Dorian und Chaol. Deren Gespräche fand ich einfach immer sehr lustig, aber trotzdem relativ tiefgründig. Der Grund warum es keine fünf Sterne von mir wurden, war dass ich noch nicht so emotional in der Geschichte drin war. Dies wird sich aber sehr wahrscheinlich in den folgenden Bänden ändern und ich kann mir sehr gut vorstellen, dass ich anderen Büchern der Reihe fünf Sterne geben werde. Das Ende hat mir aufjedenfall Lust auf den nächsten Band gemacht.

Personally I needed a bit to get into the book. The confidence of Cealena is a tid bit annoying at the start but her charming personality got me. A good example of SJMs talent to write characters with flaws but not be possesed by these faults but to evolve with it. The mystery around the murders kept me reading. In tells of the love story I'm a supporter of Chaol through and through. He rules. Also I love Nehemia. I love it that there are such strong women not only talking about men but about politics and stuff. Solid start of the serie and I'm looking forward to the next book.

Für mich ein sehr gelungenes Debut der Autorin und ein toller Auftakt zu einer epischen Fantasyreihe! Ist mein zweiter Durchgang und es gefiel mir genauso gut, wie beim ersten Mal. Aber da ich ja weiß, was passiert in Zukunft, las ich es mit etwas anderen Augen! Sehr empfehlenswert, die komplette Reihe!

Catchy! I'm excited for the other books. Celaena is a little rough of a character. She's arrogant, but only pretentiously so? IDK. I feel like she is so deeply traumatized that her whole "assassin personality" is a coping mechanism. I liked her and Dorian's relationship- did she not realize sooner that she should break things off??? 100% on Chaol's side here! Even though you could predict who was behind the murders like 3/4ths into the book, Maas still kept it interesting with new information about Celaena's secret past, loved that. Otherwise it felt like the introduction to the long book series that is TOG.

Puh, das war ne schwere Geburt... ab der Hälfte ungefähr hat es mich gepackt. Jetzt möchte ich aber auf jedenfall weiter lesen in der Reihe. Finde die Erzählung in 3. Person gewöhnungsbedürftig und da ich auf Englisch lese fällt es mir doch hin und wieder schwer alles zu verstehen.

Es macht einfach Spaß diese Reihe erneut zu lesen. Und ich muss ehrlich sagen, mit dem Wissen was ich habe hat es mir noch mehr Spaß gemacht und ich finde das Buch tatsächlich besser, als beim ersten Lesen. Einfach mega Charaktere, fantastisches Story- und Worldbuilding und für Re-Reader auch noch super Forshadowing. Just love it.

3.7 fand das buch am anfang nicht soo interessant weil mir, bis sie die geheimen gänge gefunden hat, einfach zu wenig passiert ist. danach ist es echt ganz gut geworden und das ganze räzeln über die zeichen fand ich cool. war dann auch echt spannend am ende. die magie aspekte die zum ende hin thema wurden fand ich auch echt nice aber etwas verwirrend und wenig infos dazu. mag celaena und nehemia ist queen, dorian und chaol sind mir beide relativ egal. der hund ist auch cool. freue mich weiter zu lesen

i could not put this book down. das buch hat mich emotional auseinander genommen. my heart is still crying for the 13 and gavriel. meine kritik: die wyrdgate nummer war echt gottlos & dumm, aber am ende checke ich warum erwan nicht zu dem zeitpunkt schon gestoben sein konnte. aber warum haben sie es nicht einfach gemacht nachdem aelin moraths army weggefeuert hat??! das hätte soo viel mehr sinn gemacht. literally die ganze reihe haben sie die keys gesucht um erawan endlich zu zerstören und zu verbannen und dann denkt sich aelin sich als sie die chance dazu hat einfach so nö kb??? um ELENAS SPIRIT zu retten?? elana die eine totale stupid cow ist und ihre bürden aelin aufgedrückt hat, damit sie leben kann???? da hätte es doch bestimmt eine besser lösung geben können, MIT dramatischem end battle und allem drum und dran UND gleichzeitig eine erfolgreichere storyline bezüglich des wyrdgates. so wie’s lief fand ichs echt doof und wirklich unnötig und dumm und auch unpassend für aelin die ALLES für terasan geben würde und dann dessen schicksal aufs spiel stellt einfach nur für elenas peace?? wtf. ich dachte zwischenzeitlich auch wirklich dorian hätte sich mit meave verbündet und war too stunned to speak. i would have loved for aelin to meet nox once again tho, and i ended up wondering what exactly happened to dorians mother. do i recall correct that his brother died in morath? or didn’t he? alles andere pure perfektion, ich liebe dass jedes detail aus allen büchern (besonders alle introduced character) irgendwie nochmal aufgegriffen wurden & einfach alles alles einen sinn hatte und am ende alles zusammen gekommen ist. ich will die reihe am liebsten sofort noch mal lesen weil sie so toll ist. mein herz ist gebrochen aber es war sooo schön. habe gerade keine anderen worte für die ganzen emotionen die die reihe in mir ausgelöst haben. besonders dieser letze teil der reihe war heartbreaking und grauenhaft und gerade der beginn mit aelin und meave mit das schlimmste was ich jemals gelesen habe. ich habe so viel weinen müssen aus grieve horror und fear und gleichzeitig so viele freudentränen vergossen, ich habe so oft beim lesen einfach nur pure gratitude empfunden und so viel liebe für die charaktäre und deren development und zusammenhalt. ich liebs. die tog timeline ist jedoch insane

almost 1000 pages and i still need more. this book was amazing, this WHOLE series amazed me. the way every little detail had a purpose, every character you met in the first book will be somehow present in a later book. this is crazy!!! the story itself was something else. so many different storylines, yet nothing felt overwhelming or “too much”. i also loooooved every character and i don’t know how to feel now that i know that its over??!! brb gonna watch every tiktok about this series

Was für ein Ende. Ich bin immer noch sprachlos und emotional kann ich einiges nicht greifen! Diese Buchreihe hat mir so viel gegeben und besonders immer wieder das Gefühl, dass es wirklich keine Widrigkeit geben wird, die einen brechen kann. Alle Pfade, alle Geschichten und alle Schicksale zusammengeführt an einen Ort. Für einige Charaktere solche Schicksalsschläge, dass bei mir die Tränen flossen. Die Liebe und der Mut, der durch alle Charaktere verkörpert worden ist. Einfach wow. Hätte mir nur gewünscht zu erfahren what Lorcan did.... Diese Buchreihe kann ich jedem ans Herz legen, der eine Reise in eine andere Welt braucht, nur um zu realisieren, dass jeder von uns bereits ein mutiger Assasine ist. To whatever end 🫰🏻✨

I am a big fan of fantasy novels and Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas had me hooked from the first page. The story is about Celaena Sardothien, a notorious assassin who is freed from a death camp to enter a competition for a chance to become the king's personal bodyguard. In the process, she meets interesting allies and enemies who will change her life. But dark secrets lurk behind the walls of the glass castle, putting Celaena in mortal danger. I swallowed the book in a few days and I am already looking forward to the second part. The author has created a fascinating world that captivated me from the beginning. The writing style is smooth, lively and humorous. The characters are complex, likeable and believable. The plot is full of action, romance and magic. I can recommend this book to anyone who loves fantasy and wants to take part in an exciting adventure.

I really liked this one, especially for having a strong FMC! SJM just likes us girls strong, doesn’t she? Still, I feel like it started rather slow into the whole story. I wish we would have had a little more background on Chaol and an insight into Nehemias thoughts. I hope Celeana gets a knack for the wyrdmarks, that would be pretty cool! Also I might have to add the king to my most hated characters list.

Pheeewww! Survived yet another heartbreak by ending a fantasy series I’ll never be able to read again for the first time. Honestly, I was THRILLED. The witches? BUMMER. Shapeshifting Dorian? RAW. Even Aedion’s bastardy behaviour couldn’t dim my enthusiasm. My heart broke for Gavriel, tho. Time and time again. Ge deserved so much better- and honestly, I thought Fenrys would be the one to die. Am I happy 99% of the characters got their happy ending? Yes. Did I kinda want my heart broken? Hell yeah. (That might be my self harming tendencies, though)

I can’t believe I am finished with this series. (Technically I am still missing Tower of Dawn). These characters feel like my friends who told me the story of their long way to peace and freedom and it broke me and stitched me back together. This book was the grand finale they all deserved. Well almost all of them… Objectively this is a 5 stars but it doesn’t come just close enough to the other 5 star books I’ve read. I just have to talk about Elide and Lorcan because they have all of my heart. When I started reading I thought I would be most attached to Rowan and Aelin but Elide and Lorcan came and swept me of my feet. Her searching for him on the battlefield, risking her godsdamned life for him. Him wanting her to leave him behind because she would make it back safely without his weight. Arghhh, that scene broke me. Him bracing her foot again and her saying „I missed that“ . Him saying he will bind his life to hers, I ducking sobbed. I do REALLY need to have a word with Sarah though. „So Lorcan did“ WHAT? WHAT DID HE DO? SHOW MEEEEE!!! Anyway I am soft for them and I will never get over them, ever. Since I haven‘t read Tower of Dawn I thought I would be bored with Yrene and Chaol’s part of the story but I fell head over heels for Yrene. My girl did WHAt? She stole my heart and now I want to read Tower of Dawn, because she was so incredible in this book. They both had me so soft. The Chaol- Dorian reunion had me in shambles. Dorian was as incredible as ever in this book. Sometimes foolish but we still love him. The way his power has no end, him understanding what Manon needs and still holding his breath. Yes, I am part of the Dorian Havillard fanclub. The scene with his father… The team up at the end of the book to take Erawan down. THat was everything I wanted. Elide coming up with the plan, Lysandra and Dorian using their shapeshifting powers, Yrene being the absolute powerful healer she is. That soft ass moment between Chaol and Yrene, him being so proud. Had me by the throat. Aelin and Rowan had me in a chokehold. Had me crying and screaming. Aelin losing all of her hope because she thought he didn’t look for her. Them finally finding her. The scene with the iron shackles and the mask. The fucking scene in the gold mine. Him saying „No“. Him holding onto that fucking mating bond. Her finding her way back. That proud smile of his at the end. Don’t talk to me, I am so Softtttt and ruined. Evangeline wrapping Darrow around her little finger. Lysandra saying „I wanted it to be you“. Aedion at that gate… Sarah you did a number on me with this book. The Thirteen. The lion. I am not ok. But thanks for that ending. Thank you for these books, the characters and the story as a whole. „Once upon a time, there was a princess who loved her kingdom very much…“

Ein grandioser Auftakt! War direkt von Anfang an von der Geschichte überzeugt. Die Protagonistin kämpft wortwörtlich um ein besseres Leben und ihre Freiheit. Von ganz unten wieder nach ganz oben. Viele Geheimnisse über Celaena erfährt man erst mit der Zeit. Zusätzlich lernt man noch Dorian, Chaol und Nehemia kennen. Es erscheinen Wendungen mit denen man nicht rechnet und es bleibt durchgehend spannend. Es lässt sich super lesen, man will wissen wie es weitergeht. Spoiler: Einziges Manko meinerseits, es passieren oft Prüfungen ohne das man dabei ist. Oft wird lediglich erwähnt wer dabei ausgeschieden ist oder ums Leben kam, aber man war nicht selbst dabei. Es ist definitiv nicht entscheidend für die Entwicklung der Geschichte, aber trotzdem hätte ich mich da zwischendurch gerne mehr abgeholt gefühlt. Und ich verstehe auch, dass man nicht alle Prüfungen hätte mitnehmen können. Dann hätten wir wohl ein 1.000 Seiten Buch gehabt, aber manchmal kamen solche Erwähnungen gefühlt nur im Nebensatz vor.

Puh, ich weiß gar nicht, wie ich alle meine Gedanken zu diesem Buch zusammenfassen soll. Sarah J. Maas hat einen unglaublich großartigen Abschluss ihrer epischen ToG-Reihe geschaffen, der definitiv kein Auge trocken lässt. Das große Finale gipfelt natürlich in einem Krieg, der einige Kampfszenen und natürlich den großen Showdown beinhaltet. Auch wenn manche Sequenzen sehr ausführlich und dadurch manchmal ein kleines bisschen langatmig ausfallen konnten, gefiel mir insgesamt doch sehr, wie die Storyline nun zu einem würdigen Abschluss gebracht und die Geschichten der einzelnen Charaktere miteinander verbunden und auserzählt wurden, dabei aber zugleich Platz für Fantasien zum weiteren Fortgang der Schicksale von Aelin und Co über das Buch hinaus geschaffen wurde. Diese Reihe wird mich so schnell nicht mehr loslassen und ich freue mich schon, eines Tages nochmal nach Erilea zurückzukehren❤️

Zwischen Unterdrückung, moralischen Dilemma und Mut sich für den Frieden zu erheben gab es kaum eine Seite, kaum ein Kapitel in dem Buch, das nicht vor Spannung strotzte. Wie auch in den anderen Teilen der Reihe beweist Sarah J. Maas erneut ein tiefes Verständnis für Identitätsbildung. Die Metamorphosen, die Aelin ebenso wie die anderen Figuren durchlaufen, sind eng mit ihren Erfahrungen und inneren Beweggründen verwoben – beginnend bei der Verwandlung in Celaena, die fast an Matrix erinnert, bis hin zur Königin von Terrasen und des kleinen Volkes. Dabei bleibt die Reise nicht nur persönlich: Auch die Welt um sie herum verändert sich grundlegend. Der schleichende Bedeutungsverlust der Götter etwa erinnert an die großen Epen der Antike, insbesondere an die Odyssee und Ilias, was sich sogar in der Namensgebung mancher Figuren widerspiegelt. Mit diesem Band findet die Reihe ein würdiges Ende. Eine klare Empfehlung für alle, die Fantasy mit starken Figuren suchen – Figuren, die wachsen, scheitern, sich weiterentwickeln und dennoch nie den Mut verlieren. Auch wenn der Teil einen emotional echt mitnimmt.
