Cinnamon our reluctant lead wants NOTHING to do with the hero party. Instead all she wants is to grow her spices, eat cheese and drink herself into oblivion... that is until Fallon comes into her life and she accidentally lifts the curse of him, that plagues all demonkind. What ensues is a wonderfully funny, sarcastic and hot hunt for 4 chalices and Cins sanity... But sanity is overrated when your companion is a hot as f#ck dragon who calls you his rabbit and has a habbit of losing his shirt ... Really, this series practically yeeted me out of my reading slum! Kimberly Lemmings books are addictive and I absolutely LOVE Cin for her "An Apple a day keeps ANYONE away if you throw it hard enough!" attitude throughout the book♡ Enjoy! ~Rei

Mir haben die Story und die Charaktere sehr sehr gut gefallen! Ich habe in kürzester Zeit Cinnamon und Fallon direkt ins Herz geschlossen (genau wie Usha, Felix und Ambrose). Das einzige was ich auszusetzen habe ist, dass es mir etwas zu schnell ging, alles. Hätte mir etwas mehr Slow Burn und Spannung gewünscht. Aber dennoch war es von der ersten bis letzten Seite ein sehr gutes Buch! Kann ich jedem empfehlen, der spicy Romantasy mag!

Ganz cute für zwischendurch aber mehr leider nicht. Es ging alles viel zu schnell. Cinnamon mochte ich an sich als Protagonistin sehr gern und Fallon auch. Aber mir hat einiges in der Geschichte gefehlt. Der Humor war gar nicht meiner. Ich musste so gut wie nie lachen und fand es eher langweilig. Kein Spannungsaufbau und der Plot wurde nur abgearbeitet. Es gab keine großen Überraschungen. Aber die Romance wurde ganz süß gestaltet. Das war es dann aber auch.

Ice planet barbarian but without "alle brauchen ein Baby" - Plot und stattdessen Dämonen, die irgendwie von Drache, Werwolf, Vampire oder Zentaur alles sein können solange sie ein Sixpack haben. Trotz hoppla hopp Plot gegen evil witch/goddess bewahrt es eine gewisse Coziness. Ich liebe außerdem, dass diese Art Roman heutzutage mit feisty protas, consent und Content Notes daher kommt. Definitiv positive Entwicklung.

Wer diese Rezension außerhalb von meinem Blog liest, wird sehen, dass es hier keine Sternebewertung gibt. Und das hat damit zu tun, dass ich selbst an meiner Leseerfahrung schuld bin und die Autorin nichts dafür kann. Und jetzt denken sich wahrscheinlich alle, die diese Rezension lesen: Mira, WAS ZUR HÖLLE IST PASSIERT? Joa. Was soll ich sagen? Ich hab mich wie immer brav die Triggerwarnungen durchgelesen. Und da war auch ein Trigger dabei, den ich nicht kannte: Dubcon. Und anstatt zu googeln, was das denn bitte bedeutet, bin ich einfach davon ausgegangen, dass mich das wahrscheinlich eh nicht stören wird. Tja, und so habe ich auf die harte Tour rausgefunden, was denn dubcon bedeutet. Damit ihr das nicht auch googeln müsst: Dubcon steht für "dubious consent". Heißt also, dass nicht ganz klar ist, ob alle Figuren Consent geben oder nicht. Keine Ahnung, ob ich da einfach zu altmodisch bin, aber ich war eher überrascht, als ich diese Definition gelesen habe. Für mich gibt es nur klaren Consent oder keinen Consent. Und wenn kein Consent da ist, dann gibt es da für mich keine Diskussion und keine Zweifel - dann ist kein Consent da. Da gibt es für mich keine Graustufen: Entweder alle Beteiligten sind informiert und begeistert, oder sie geben keine Zustimmung. Wer nicht voll informiert und begeistert seine Zustimmung kund tut, gibt keinen Consent. Ihr seht also: Ich bin für Bücher mit dieser Triggerwarnung wirklich nicht die richtige Leserin. Deswegen war ich auch vor allem in der ersten Hälfte des Buches eher schockiert. Ich will wirklich kein Kink-Shaming betreiben, aber damit kann ich wirklich gar nichts anfangen. Die zweite Hälfte des Buches war dann eher die typische Romanze, die ich mir von Anfang an erwartet hätte. Auch das war kein absolutes Lesehighlight, aber für mich um einiges ansprechender als die erste Hälfte. Hier wurde mir dann leider fast zu viel mit Klischees gespielt. Gerade im Bezug auf den Dämon konnte ich diese nicht alle mit der Figur, die uns in der ersten Hälfte gezeigt wurde, in Einklang bringen. Mein Fazit? Ich bin nicht die Zielgruppe und konnte deswegen leider nicht viel mit diesem Roman anfangen.

RomCom im Fantasy Stil. Das ganze ist bei weitem natürlich nicht mit einem High Fantasy oder Romance Buch zu vergleichen aber es hatte seinen ganz eigenen Charme. Es war lustig, unterhaltsam, hatte mehr Plot als erwartet und die Charaktere waren sympathisch. Natürlich hätte man alles weiter ausarbeiten können und auch den Charakteren mehr Tiefe verleihen können (dafür gibt's den halben Stern Abzug) aber am Ende war das irgendwie auch nicht so störend. Das Buch nimmt sich selbst absolut nicht ernst und hat dadurch so einen guten Humor, dass man es gar nicht mehr aus der Hand legen möchte.

This was definitely an unusual kind of fantasy read, not only in good ways, but all in all a fun experience, 3 stars from me. One thing I liked was the very quirky and funny protagonist who just swept you up and carried you with her from page one. Cin is definitely no heroine, at least in the beginning; she is flawed, witty, tough and a little rude. She is also afraid of many things, which I found realistic, after all, she is suddenly part of a huge adventure she never wanted. I loved how much Cin likes good food and cooking and carries that throughout the book. At some points I found her a little annoying but overall I liked following her journey. I also liked the world the story takes place in and the wide array of fairytale creatures we get to meet. Many of them are not only good or bad either, but are ambivalent and have sweet and dangerous sides to them, which I found refreshing. The major thing that didn't work for me was the pacing. I feel like in the beginning they are travelling at a rather slow pace, with detailled descriptions of their encounters etc., but once they reach a certain point, the plot is sped up unbelievably, with many shortcuts and holes, which was particularly obvious to me after the beginning was so detailled. I would have wished that the holes were filled in with background knowledge about this world the author created and their inhabitants, maybe giving another perspective as well. Some of the solutions also seemed too easy for me and I found myself wishing for a bit more complexity and intricacy. I also wasn't the biggest fan of Fallon and his dynamic with Cin, I'm just not a fan of overpowering men whose only good quality is being protective, but that's my personal taste, I know others like this. Them falling in love so quickly seemed a bit unrealistic to me, we get an explanation for Fallon but why Cin falls for him is a bit beyond me, but that's due to the whole dominance dynamic I'm not a big fan of. The sex-scenes were a bit uncomfortable for me for the same reasons, but again, that's my personal taste, I'm all for consent which in this book is existent, but it's right there on the edge... So if you're looking for a quirky fantasy read with supernatural creatures and if you enjoy light BDSM / male dom vibes, you'll probably enjoy this. If not, maybe stay away from it :)
