The imps were the best part about this book. No one can convince me otherwise. They are like very chaotic magical cats and i love them. The rest of the book was okay. I feel like the most important stuff happened in the last 15% of the book and the rest was very slow build up to the final battle and conclusion of this duology. Am i happy with it? I don’t know. I expected a villain origin story and … well. Alyce was a villain for a while but she never wanted to be one all along. She was only pushed towards being one and played the role for a while. What i didn’t like was that everyone betrayed each other all the time by the end and i was surprised when someone WASN‘T a kind of double agent or had an ulterior motive. But also everyone forgave each other for the most atrocious things and it just felt too easy. It‘s okay not to get over certain things and some stuff can just ruin relationships irrevocably, no matter what you say or do.

The first half was quite boring. I thought about DNFing it, but ultimately kept on going. However the second half was finally what the first book promised the 2nd book to be. Then it was a page-turner.Still I did not feel a connection with the characters like in the 1st book. Especially the always changing emotions and relationship of Alyce and Aurora was getting annoying towards the end. (It seemed childish and immature to me)I would only recommend this for people who really want to know how the story of Alyce and Aurora ends. If you are not so curious, than you don't really miss out on anything.
