It’s the first and only book I read from Isabel Allende so far and I greatly enjoyed it. A family history going from the Spanish civil war in 1936, the exile of Spaniards in Chile, the raise to power of Pinochet, a second exile in Venezuela to the fall of Pinochet in 1990. It ticked off more than one of the things I like in a book- history, a bit of romance, great narration. I can only recommend this and I will read more of her in the future.
