Love love love this book! Nothing can descripe how much I adore this series. Is it objectively the best writen realistic story…No. But these books do something to me that probably no other book come close to. Forever devoted to these characters!

Spoiler warning Andrew and Neil and there not relationship will forever have my heart. The dynamic the tension aghh i love everything about them. Neil eventually got the hint from Andrew flirting with him for 2 books already and that only bc he told him straight to the face and now Neil will never let go of him again. I once read a line about them that finds perfectly in my opinion „This is a slow burn but only on the rearead“ and that altered my brain chemistry, couldn’t agree more. Somehow despite all these two are the healthiest couple i probably ever read. Andrews story broke me *my poor baby* and even though he had all the reasons he didn‘t give up on the people he likes or himself. I just wish he would protect himself as he protects his family. Kevin my baby. I gasped oudably as he switched his hand on the final game with the ravens. This scene and the Queen tatoo will forever be iconic. Nothings gonna make me hate you Kevin day (even though he is as problematic as everyone else in this book haha)

sooooo... idk what to say. i really like neil and his little pet psycho. the found family in this one is just so good. i know the book has more than enough issues and i still don't know how sports and mafia work together but as i said for the first book: good books aren't always entertaining and entertaining books aren't always good. and i was more than entertained

"You are a Fox," Andrew said, like it was that simple, and maybe it was. Neil never imagined it, but he was still alive. He doesn't know how long this is going to be the case, but he decided to stay, rebelling against everything his mother asked him for and everything his better judgement is telling him to do. But the Foxes are stronger than ever, facing some of the big three Exy teams on their way to the national championship. But are they really able to make it? And what about everyone, who doesn't want them to win and especially doesn't want Neil to live anymore? I finished it. There is a big hole in my soul. This book was able to make me happy and sad at the same time. I am so proud of how far the Foxes have come, especially how much they have grown together. In this team there is literally not a single soul to hate (i dislike someone, but I can tolerate him). ALL these young people give me all the love and I am going to miss them so much. AND I AM NOT EVEN ABLE TO START ABOUT NEIL JOSTEN AND ANDREW MINYARD BECAUSE THEY'RE PRECIOUS, I LOVE THEM AND I AM SO SAD TO LET THEM GO. GO FOXES. FOREVER.

i have some thoughts but idk where to start. but maybe i should start with the fact that neil’s abusive killer father who’s been chasing him for eight years dying was like somehow not even the worst thing happening in this series cause i genuinely believe neil’s trauma over that encounter wasn’t any worse than what he seemed to experience after leaving the ravens which is a choice. andrew is… what even is andrew??? so many words were said and so little was understood. like at some point neil said andrew isn’t actually a sociopath and i was like did we think he was one?? was that part of his characterization?? i did not understand one part about the brothers beef. and ill say it the found family trope is hardly found familying when the only person carrying it is neil??? like the upperclassmen are trying but they’re also kinda less relevant. kevin is hardly trying. nicky is but not enough to defy andrew and that’s just a weird dynamic over there in general. andrew has his whole promise and protection thing but the guidelines of how it works are very deeply confusing to me perhaps because i for one am not crazy. this all sounds very negative but i did read this book until 2am then woke up and started reading again. once again i am baffled at having enjoyed this. i mean no offense to anyone loving these books cause apparently so do i but also nothing makes sense. whoever wrote “Its clear Nora knows nothing about sports, drugs, gangs, mental health/trauma, gay ppl, but wrote 3 books about all of the above” snapped cause she really had an idea for a book and a dream and somehow it worked but i wouldn’t want anyone else to read this genuinely.

God Save the Queen 🙃

I can’t describe how much I loved this. I loved everything about him and that he was a main character I actually enjoyed viewing the world through. And I love Andrew and how he grew through the books. I love the Foxes and the found Family trope. Every character could have been the main character. Their past made them strong and fell in love with every single one of them. I’m going to miss them.

Andrew & Neil

Losing my mind

These books are teriffic and I love them so fucking much. Miss Nora writes about a awful lot of themes i didnt know i would find myself reading those. Sport, gangs, mental health/ trauma and drugs(psychiatric or recreational). But here we are. The result is a rediculousy cringey and uncomfortable experience that I, personally, cannot get enough of. I read all three of the series „all for the game“ in like two or three days. I took a day off of work for this one in particular. So that i could drown myself in the misery. And I am on my 3rd read trough... I have to continuously reiterate to people that I am NOT recommending these books, despite how much I ramble about them. I cannot get these books out of my head and they changed who i am as a person. Those outrageous idiots live rent free in my mind since then. Like the demons they are. Neil is my puppy. Andrew my shadow. Kevin an alcoholic wonna be and Rico is a dickhead of an asshole who deserves all the shitstorm possible. I hope u trip over a rock and break your god damn foot. Everything is AFTG. Anywas. 5/5 for all of the books. I regret ever encounter them.

Finishing this book took me a lot, and I mean a lot, longer than I thought it would. Being the longest out of the series it shouldn’t have surprised me, but somehow The King’s Men did a “turn-tables”-move on my expectations in general. Going in, after #2 of the trilogy, I expected to be in pain for the full ride of it. That … did not happen. I was mildly uncomfortable at best and that, strange as it may sound, disappointed me, especially considering how hard the end of the second book had hit me. I know now why that might have been the case and I’ll get to that reasoning in a bit. My general impression of this finale was, very shortened, too long, too much happened, and it lacked so much depth. Sprinkle annoyance about the style of writing and questionable plot choices on top and now we have the disappointing finale for a series I so far really enjoyed. First of all, the style – oh boy. Book 1 and 2 didn’t leave me enough breathing room to even consider this, but as the third book tended to be dragging in quite a few chapters, a reader suddenly notices repetitive writing, poor choice of words or using the same descriptions (or none at all?) over and over again. Culminating in a paragraph I highlighted in which 5 out of 6 sentences started with the same name. This gets old really quick. In the first two books, I lived for the banter. This flattened out here so much I’m not sure there even was any left. At least not in a way that was quick-witted enough to leave me chuckling – or remembering it. Talking it through I was finally able to put a finger on some of the points that really diminished my enjoyment of this book: First of all, the number of characters. We have a ton of sidekicks, that are too present not to want to know more about them, yet the information the reader receives about them is in titbits at max and it led to me being either annoyed that I didn’t get the tragic backstory or me being completely indifferent about the characters the author clearly wanted me to care about – no in-between. Not only did we have an enormous cast of sidekicks, we had close to the same number of antagonists and some of them lost their threat rather surprisingly (not in a good way, but in a “let me introduce this new bigger villain but without explaining why it’s a bigger threat” way). If a villain loses his power of his victims by empowering those, that’s fine but was only done well in one case in this book. The rest felt like “uh, got tired of this one, take this new bigger one instead”. Discarding old, feared antagonists without delivering a proper explanation on how that happened unfortunately is a pet peeve of mine. The same argument of “too much, not enough” applied for me to the plot in general: Sometimes plotlines and scenes felt like stalling, sometimes they were utterly redundant and sometimes they had the feeling to them as if the author had noticed a loose end that still needed to be taken care of. It was sloppily done at best in these cases and ties in with the previous point of critique: I probably would have cared more about these scenes, if the majority did not happen “behind closed doors” for the reader. That is a useful tool, but not if it’s the only one you keep sharp in your box. A few of those plotlines just felt like they were there but they did not really matter and I was sad to see that happen, as some of them had the potential of delivering not only more depth to the whole story in general but also tie the reader in even more (Jean, Renee, …). At times also the relation of problem, solution and backlash/collateral damage in some plot-related events felt very disproportionate. One very big problem for me presented itself in a surprisingly rapid turn of liking Neil to … despising him in parts. The more the foxes grew on me, the more I started to dislike Neil and that was surprising to me. He behaved, true to his past and nature, like a real bastard to his teammates in parts, ignoring boundaries and forcing their hand when he for sure would have lashed out if the roles were reversed. I probably could have lived better with that kind of behaviour if there was any kind of reaction by the team to it, but lacking this Neil just evolved into a proper prick and I very much disliked his utter lack of respect for boundaries if they were not his or Andrew’s. That being said, my boy Andrew is the only reason I partially enjoyed this finale. I don’t care how hard you judge that, but I related to him an alarming amount of times and he is by far my favourite of the bunch, before Nicky and Wymack in a tie. The reason for a rating like this with having that many points of critique also is to be found in some of the quotes this book delivers. Quite a few times it hit a bit too close to home for comfort, but I didn’t hurt as much as I expected to. All in all, I would still recommend this series! But I would be very careful to whom.

The slowburn was finally burning

Omg what a ride, I need to collect my thoughts. While the first book was fine and the second pretty great, this one just blew me away - I loved it ❤️ It is a series you need to be patient with but it is sooo worth it. The found family trope is strong with the team and the whatever kind of relationship of Andrew and Neil just got me rolling around in my bed. I don't remember when the last time was that I was this excited for a couple. All of their interactions had me at the edge of my seat and the way consent was portrayed between them was just so great, the trust they have in each other ❤️ (even though Andrew has done other bad stuff 😅). I just wish we would have seen even more of them. In my opinion there was so much more to tell. Not that it ended open but I will never have enough of them 😩💕 This last volume was just so thrilling with Neil having to face his past to get a future and somewhere in the middle it felt kinda hopeless. I mean I knew they wouldn't kill the main character but they got me sweating 😅 I actually think this would work great as a TV series but they would need a perfect cast and I guess it's even harder to find that many actors that can speak multiple languages from German to French and Japanese 😅 Anyways, great trilogy and possibly one of the best books I read this year. Like objectively there are better ones but subjectively this just gave me all the feels. I will miss this crazy team of problem childs 🥺💕 (going to read fanfictions now xD)

This has officially become one of my favourite series I have ever read in my entire life! Sakavic has probably been one of the only authors who made me fall in love or at least keep invested with every single character introduced. My heart was thumping, I was laughing and letting out audible gasps while reading this last one. The plot had me going so much that I literally couldn’t put down the book. I know a lot of people couldn’t get into the series because they didn’t like reading about sports but the characters felt so passionately about it that it was like I was standing on the court, wanting to win. I am going to miss the Foxes with all of my heart. All of the characters are going to be one of the best and most intriguing ones I ever read. Thank you for this incredible series!

Okay, some serious trigger warnings for the entire book series: drugs, abuse, sexual abuse, torture, blood, self-harm, violence ... I think that's it but there could be other stuff in there. So. Now that we got that out of our way. I started this book series because my best friend wanted me to and well ... she said it was gay and very twisted and brutal and since she knows me well, she knew that I was already in. Throughout the first book I was like: Hang on. This reads like a fanfiction. Not a bad one but it's soooo all over the place ... And then the book ended and I bought the second book. And I finished that in a few hours, bought the third book and was not really cabable of doing anything else than finish this book and now I have no idea how to ever read another book series. These books could have been terrible. Like, really, really, really terrible and toxic. But the thing is: There are so many books out there which try to convey the message that you just have to meet the right person to become better. That the most toxic and terrible behaviour is lovely and romantic. That the bad boy is just deeeply hurt and it's fine if he treats his love interest badly. This book series does not say that. The characters are far from fixed at the end of the book series and all of them CHOSE to get better. They were shown options which they could have refused but they all took them. No one says their toxic and brutal behaviour is great but they are not judged by it either. It's hard to explain and I think you either love this book series or you don't. But from all the things I love about this book series, one definitely has to be the topic of consent. Throughout every. single. relationship. Mostly, of course, in the way Neil and Andrew treat each other. There is never a hint of annoyance from Neil - he always waits for a yes, as does Andrew. He even refuses to kiss Neil until Neil is able to give an earnest "Yes". So, please, for the love of God, never ever tell me again that consent is boring and takes too much time.

Jesus, what a ride. First of all, I LOVE the books. Yes, even though I'm only giving three stars, I've grown to love the Foxes team. I liked the focus on Exy and also on specific character developments. It was great to learn more about all the team members and watch Andrew grow. However, I continue to miss the naming and coming to terms with the traumas ( even if only in the afterword). Also, you don't play a fucking blatant Exy game with a tattoo that is not even 24 hours old. Many things happened too quickly and too abruptly. The coming to terms with Neil's fundamental situation, for example, and also the handling of Riko. There is a lack of sensitivity. I don't agree with a lot of it and am extremely critical of the series and yet ... I am in love and could not put the books aside. If you approach the series without a big moral compass, you can have fun. But you also have to overlook a few things - or rather a lot of things.
