I'm on a mission to listen to any and all audio books narrated by Jacob Morgan and I am not one bit sorry. 🙏 There's a bit of harsh real world in here - young people abused by the church, and Tyler wanting to improve its image because he still believes faith can have a positive impact on anybody's life. He's a rolemodel for the people in his parish, and his bishop values him. He's been celibate three years when Poppy stumbles into his confessional booth, wondering if her job makes her a sinner. He's immediately into her, she's honest, good, and obviously attractive. They keep running into each other in town and while he's trying his best to keep his cool she's blatantly flirting. 💦 One thing leads to another and they start hooking up. At first he believes he just has to do it once to get her out of his system, but it starts an instant obsession which eventually spirals out of control. 🔥 PS: yes, this book has some miscommunication in the end. Y'all know I hate it with a fiery passion but I saw it coming from a mile away and it was resolved within 2-3 capters so it's not that bad.

Ich bin echt sauer muss ich sagen. Bis zum Plot hätte ich zu 100% 5☆ gegeben, aber das war ja soooooo unnötig. Es war doch sowieso zu spät als sie Sterling hat abblitzen lassen und dann haut sie einfach ab. Das war für mich so eine toxische Kinderkacke, dass ich zu dem Zeitpunkt schon wusste egal was noch kommt es wird es nicht wieder gut machen und genauso war es auch. Puuuuh, eigentlich war ich schon sicher, dass es mein Monatshighlight wird. Wurde es dann doch nicht.

. After 3 years I finally managed to finish this book. I took a break from it in 2022 and decided to continue it in 2025. I feel like the break made me appreciate the book a bit more than in the past. I was unsure how smut could be conveyed through the eyes of a Priest but Tyler proved to be quite good at it. Sometimes I felt like his immense horniness was a bit extreme but towards the end I quite enjoyed it a few times. 𝗪𝗵𝘆 2.5 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘀? ⭐ When it only comes to smut and emotional inner conflicts I would rate this book 5 Stars. However, despite the involved conflicts and emotions I felt like this book suffered in terms of miscommunication and in general just questionable behaviour. Instead of addressing issues they get ignored and then are immediatly forgiven. It made room for -in my eyes- unnecessary hurt and forced deep reactions upon the characters. Back in 2022 the first 50% made me want to dnf this one, now in 2025 I basically inhaled the entire novel and binged through it. The smut and kinks turned out to be more appealing and well written. I can recommend this book to anyone who has similar kinks or is interested in the topics mentioned.

Leichte Spoiler! Ich hab das Buch angefangen, da ich das Setting interessant fand und es vor Band 2 (Sinner) lesen wollte, aber puh, ich fand es leider nicht gut. Mit Tyler und Poppy bin ich bis zum Ende nicht warm geworden. Seine Zerrissenheit zwischen Gott und seinen Bedürfnissen ging mir zum Ende hin nur noch auf die Nerven und war nicht wirklich glaubwürdig, denn eigentlich war er das ganze Buch über nur dauerhart.😅 Das Ende fand ich leider auch ziemlich dämlich. Die Sexszenen sind sehr spicy, ich fand sie leider etwas repetitiv und auch zu dominant und unnötig erniedrigend, aber okay, es ist Dark Romance...😆 Körperflüssigkeiten und was damit gemacht wird, sind auch sehr präsent, was ich persönlich so gar nicht mag. Der Schreibstil war insgesamt aber okay. Ich hoffe, Sinner wird mir besser gefallen...

Das war ja mal so gar nicht mein Buch ... Liegt höchstwahrscheinlich auch am Thema, ich kann dem zu tiefst religiösen Amerika jetzt nicht allzu viel abgewinnen und ich fand das gesamte Szenario so an den Haaren herbeigezogen. Ein super sexy Priester trifft im Beichtstuhl auf eine Frau, die beichtet quasi sexsüchtig zu sein, bzw ihr Sexleben exzessiv und offen innerhalb eines Strip-Clubs auslebt ... Und natürlich schafft nur sie es, dass sich dadurch bei ihm mal wieder was in der Hose rührt. Sorry, kann da nix romantisches rauslesen 😅 heiß war an der ganzen Sache auch nix, Plot gibt's sowieso keinen. Die Protagonistin hat auch keinerlei nennbare Charaktereigenschaften außer die Granate schlecht hin zu sein und ohne Höschen im Beichtstuhl von ihren Sexabenteuern zu beichten. Fands alles so furchtbar langweilig.

Langsam bekomme ich immer mehr das Gefühl, das ich nicht ganz warm werde wenn in Büchern ein unfassbares Ungleichgewicht zwischen Romance und Spice liegt. Natürlich weiß ich immer worauf ich mich bei diesen Romanen einlasse, dennoch fehlt irgendwie jegliche Tiefe in einigen dieser Bücher. Ohne diese kann ich auch keine wirkliche Verbindung zu den Charakteren aufbauen. Gerade die Protagonist:innen wirken nicht wirklich greifbar. Ihre Handlungen sind oftmals nur schwer nachzuvollziehen. Der Plot nicht wirklich raffiniert ausgearbeitet. Der Spice war gut, jedoch zu willkürlich und teilweise zu falschen Zeitpunkten gewählt. Einige Szenen hatten einen wirklich guten Ansatz und hätten die Protagonist:innen auch näher zueinander gebracht, wenn sie dann nicht in der Hälfte der Konversation miteinander geschlafen hätten. Alles in allem ein unterdurchschnittlicher Roman, der gute Ansätze verfolgt, sie dann aber nicht ganz zu Ende spinnen kann.

Okay, so uhm... I wasn't sure if I should give this book 2.5 or 3 stars. (still don't really know tbh) There's definitely a lot of smut in this book, whether it's thoughts or actions. The club chapter was hot and the last chapter before the epilogue was cute - even though I didn't really need the deed at the end of that chapter. Because of the forbidden romance and their situation the book gives off a lot of anxious vibes. At the same time it gave me a whole lot of weird feelings, since he's a priest, cares so much about it, but at the same time sort of doesn't? Tyler was ready to give up everything and wanted to marry Poppy after two/three months... Like, huh? Poppy, Tyler and their relationship felt a bit infuriating and gave me the ick at times though.
