It was great and very good but eith time the exitement wore out a little Bit. Alinas Journey is great to follow and everything that happens is a surprise somehow but something about the writing Style threw me off sometimes. It's very sudden, you can't see it coming and whilst that is a good thing in some Situations it can feel like a scene cut off halfway through. But all in all it's a great book and I am exited to read the Rest of the Trilogy 🦌🐉🦅

Ich kann nicht glauben, dass ich das hier wirklich schreibe – aber ich habe endlich mein ältestes SuB-Buch gelesen! Dafür erstmal einen kurzen Applaus 👏👸 Und jetzt zum Buch: Okay, möglicherweise habe ich mich mit meiner Voreinstellung zu Shadow and Bone ein bisschen zu sehr angestellt, denn so schlimm war es gar nicht. Da ich die Serie damals schon geschaut habe, war natürlich alles, was passiert, für mich bekannt, aber trotzdem war es nicht schlecht. Ich bin immer noch der Meinung, dass ihr bester Freund ziemlich langweilig ist und ihre Beziehung eher wie die zwischen Geschwistern wirkt – aber naja. Insgesamt war es okay, aber am meisten freut mich einfach, dass ich es endlich gelesen habe! 🥳😮‍💨

I truly understand why everyone likes this story so much! It is a great world and a story with twists you really can't expect. A friend of mine said that she started out hating the villain but the further she read the more she hated how much she grew to like him. Now after reading the book I can confidently say: same

Eine Welt in der es Magie gibt. Aber nicht jeder kann sie nutzen. Die Waise Alina geht mit ihrem Jugendfreund zum Militär, dann muss sie plötzlich in eine für sie neue Welt passen. Die Geschichte war gut geschrieben. Die Handlung hatte Höhen aber auch ruhigere Momente. Dabei lernt man nach und nach die Welt kennen. Die Charaktere waren durchwachsen. Klar geht es hier um Lug und Betrug. Und auch so manches Verhalten von Alina ist nachvollziehbar. Dennoch hat es mich an manchen Stellen genervt. Wie das Fähnchen im Wind geht sie mit Zuneigung um. Verständlich aber störend. Der Schreibstil ist einfach. Auch die Fremden Wörter waren im Kontext gut zu verstehen.

Ich fand es echt cool und spannend, aber umgehauen hat es mich nicht. Es ist, was die Story und die Twists angeht, schon eine ziemlich generische Jugendfantasy. Trotzdem bin ich super in die Geschichte reingekommen und hab auf jeden Fall Lust, weiterzulesen. Achja, der Darkling ist TRASH.

War es weltbewegend? Nein. Verstehe die negativen Rezensionen aber nicht haha ich finde das Buch startet total stark und spannend und ist super schnell lesbar und ich konnte mir alles super vorstellen. Leigh Bardugos Schreibstil liebe ich eh, aber auch die Art wie sie Charaktere schreibt. Finde den Auftakt einer Reihe immer schwierig einzeln zu bewerten, aber es hat mir wirklich gut gefallen, daher 4 ⭐️ und ich bin gespannt wie es weitergeht!

I actually enjoyed this book more than the first. I loved seeing where Alina and Mal went and how they continued their journey. I'm really looking forward to seeing if the Darkling is defeated and Id really honestly think Nikoli will try and control Alina if they get the firebird. Really good series!!

3.25 ⭐️ “I'm not like you, Mal. I never really fit in the way you did. I never really belonged anywhere." "You belonged with me.” first of all, yes, i'm a mal girly, but i couldn't care less about the darkling/mal debate because i'm eating this up nonetheless! the concept of grishas and their divisions is fascinating. being a russian speaker, i love every itty bitty moment they speak ravkan. i can effortlessly get the hang of the world-building and the magic system. that being said, this fantasy series is on the weaker side and feels kinda mid, in my opinion.

3,5 - 4 Sterne Bevor ich die Netflix-Serie "Shadow and Bone" gucke, wollte ich zunächst die Trilogie lesen. Der erste Band hat mich nicht ganz so begeistert, wie ich es vermutet hatte. Protagonistin Alina ist eine Kartografin in der Ersten Armee des Zaren von Ravka. Nach einem Angriff rettet sie auf wundersame Art und Weise das Leben ihres besten Freundes Mal. Danach ist nichts mehr wie vorher, denn der Dunkle interessiert sich für ihre Macht. In Ravka leben nicht magische Menschen mit den sogenannten Grisha zusammen. Grisha verfügen über besondere Kräfte. Manche können den Wind oder das Feuer beherrschen, andere können heilen oder das Aussehen verändern und dann gibt es den Dunklen, der einzigartig zu sein scheint. Das Setting ist sehr anschaulich beschrieben und ich bin während des Lesens richtig in die Grisha-Welt eingetaucht. Auch der Plot ist an sich sehr spannend und es gibt viele ungeklärte Fragen, aber im ersten Band passiert einfach nicht wirklich viel. Alina befindet sich im Schloss des Zaren und übt den Umgang mit ihrer Macht. Wenn sie nicht gerade übt, denkt sie an Mal. Und das war im Grunde eine grobe Zusammenfassung des ersten Bandes. Nunja, einige überraschende Wendungen gab es dann doch und Band 2 werde ich direkt im Anschluss lesen.

Bin absolut in loooove mit dem Buch. Hätte mir zwar stellenweise ein bisschen mehr Aufklären zu ein paar der ‚fremdsprachigen‘ Wörter und dem Magiesystem gewünscht aber abgesehen davon, eine super super gute Story. Liebe die Charaktere, liebe den Plot, liebe das Setting, definitiv eines meiner neuen favs <3

Ich konnte das Buch gar nicht mehr aus der Hand legen. Ich fand alles daran wirklich toll, die Romance ging für mich sehr schnell, ich muss aber auch gestehen das ich so gut wie immer Slow Burn lese…🥰 Werde direkt mit Teil 2 weiter machen! Das Englisch ist auch sehr leicht zu lesen, meiner Meinung nach also auch was für Einsteiger ;)

From the last book of the trilogy, I woul've hoped for more. I liked the character deveopment that some of them (especially Zoya and Genya) had - those two are still my favorite female characters. I am still disappointed in Alina because I feel like she wasted a lot of time and all her talent for the first, I don't know, half of the book. I feel like she constantly wants to give up and depends way too much on others, but that might just be my way of viewing it. I am so sorry to say this, but I hated the ending. First of all, the last fight was a bit.. confusing. After a while the whole thing surrounding Mal was understandable, bute I feel like it could've been explained better. I also didn't like the "epilogue" ending (but that's just personal prefernce) Don't get me wrong, I liked the trilogy, it was a lot of fun to read, but it just didn't totally do it for me

4.5 stars!!! "Darkness never dies." Woah. Just WOAH. I think I already need to apologize if this review is weird and contains too much OMG's and AHHH's but damnit. Siege and Storm was totally amazing! Maybe not as good as the first book but still thrilling and still very, very enjoyable. Bardugo really did a great job creating such an amazing world with all those mysterious characters and I just loved every second of the book! At times it was a little hard to get into it because there were long talks or boring "events" but in the end everything seemed important and necessary. So let's start with Privateer Sturmhound. Yes! I think I've never been more grateful for a new character, seriously. He's charming, intelligent, handsome, mysterious, caring, brave, independent, funny, cocky, very confident, useful ... I could go on with the list FOREVER. My love for him seems endless and I enjoyed every so little scene with him. Especially in the second "part" of the book I really grew to love him! Yes, he's intriguing and you're never really sure if you can trust him but then again he's helpful and always wants the best for his men and Ravka. And I do think he cares about Alina! He just doesn't want to admit it ... not 100% at least! ' "I want to kiss you," he said. "But I won’t. Not until you’re thinking of me instead of trying to forget him." ' I have to say that I was really disappointed with Mal in this book. I only started to like him in the end of Shadow and Bone but now after finishing Siege and Storm I don't really know what to think. So much happened between Alina and Mal and at times it really annoyed me. All that relationship drama was just too much and could have been easily resolved if they only would have talked to each other. Now it's easier said than done but they didn't even try! Don't get me wrong, I still think they're cute together and in some ways good for each other but especially in the second half of the book, I just wanted them to finally break up. They both deserved more than all the drama and the guilt or their broken hearts. "I've seen what you truly are," said the Darkling, "and I've never turned away. I never will. Can he say the same?" But now onto The Darkling! If you read my review of Shadow and Bone you probably know that I adored him in the first book! My opinion didn't change although it faltered a little bit. In the first book he seemed more human, with a background and there were more interactions with Alina where you could really think he's just a lonely guy that sees something "soothing" in his monsters and the darkness. In Siege and Storm I really missed that. I know he's the bad guy and "pure" evil and most people don't like him but I don't believe that he's just bad and there's nothing else about him. And especially if you read the Bonus content - the interview with Leigh Bardugo, where she said: "I'm not interested in characters who are just one thing, who are wholly evil or wholly good. People aren't like that. We all have our own darkness to contend with, and that isn't necessarily a bad thing." - you can't just say he's "pure" evil. At least I won't. I liked how Alina changed throughout the whole book. Maybe not always in a good way but the changes even made her stronger, at least in my opinion, and Sturmhound was good for her because he taught her important lessons. What I didn't like was how hungry for power she became. I just never expected wanted her to be like that. The Darkling obviously always knew and it was obvious she eventually would end up lusting for more ... but I guess, I never wanted her to become like that. The storyline was thrilling but nothing new. Still, I really liked how Leigh Bardugo put everything together ... the sea and Sturmhound and this amazing twist about him, his crew - I LOVED Tamar and Tolya btw, again 2 amazing new characters! - the hunt(s) and all those epic battles and fighting. It was super cool and so exciting! "Weakness is a guise. Wear it when they need to know you're human, but never when you feel it." And the ending, oh dear! What an EPIC end! I didn't quite expect it (especially the end end ... i hope the ones who read it will know what I mean - I'm only saying: Alina and Genya!) but now I have so many questions and I'm super duper hyper excited and curious for the last book! I read a few other reviews about Siege and Storm and there were some really good thoughts and ideas about what will happen in the last installment. It's sad to see it end already but I'm hoping for a gorgeous and epic conclusion that leaves no questions behind and makes everyone or most people (hopefully including me) happy! Off to read Ruin and Rising now, yay! Little sidenote: I loved the extra "chapter" out of Genya's POV! It wasn't much but again, made me understand why The Darkling isn't as bad as he seems ... god, maybe he is terribly bad and just evil and I'm only wishing he wouldn't be (damn you, Aaron Warner!) and I'm just weird but I still have hope. the 3 stars are for Nikolai only. I don't like Mal so he gets no stars. I liked Alina in the first book but i thought her constant whining over Mal got really annoying after a few chapters. Really hope she and Mal call it quits in the 3rd book and she starts liking Nikolai. As for the story beside the romance aspect, it was pretty good like in the first book. Interesting plot lines and the world continues to be intriguing to me. Can't wait to start reading the next book as soon as i have hit "send" on this review

Wie im ersten Teil auch, ist der Anfang sehr langatmig. Aber nach ungefähr der Hälfte wenn alles einen Sinn macht, nimmt alles seine Fahrt auf. Neue Charaktere werden vorgestellt und bin auch sehr glücklich darüber. Das Buch endet in einem massiven Cliffhanger und war dankbar dass ich bereits das letzte Buch zu Hause habe. Es bleibt spannend! Nachtrag: da ich nun alle Bücher durch habe muss ich dem Buch 3.5 Punkte geben. Allgemein finde ich das die S&B Reihe zwar gut ist, aber nicht gut genug. Man braucht sehr lange in in die Bücher zu kommen. Und das bei jedem der drei. Meiner Meinung ist ab diesen Band die Hälfte bis zum Buch 3 die interessanteste Geschichte. Manchmal habe ich das Gefühl das einfach nichts passiert und dann BOOM... BAM BAM BAM. Cut. Ende.

Sehr schnelllebig. Durch die hier benutzte Ich-Perspektive wirkt es eher, als würde der Hauptcharakter die Geschichte einer anderen Person erzählen und die "unwichtigen Dinge" weglassen. Teilweise wirkt es dadurch ein wenig lazy. In einer Stelle stürzt der Hauptcharakter in einen Fluss und beendet das Ganze in 2 Sätzen: "I don't know how I did it, but I managed to get to t outhe shore". Sehr show, don't tell. Kann man machen, aber führt dadurch dazu, dass man kaum Gefühle für die Charaktere aufbringen kann und auch die Geschichte wahrscheinlich schnell in Vergessenheit gerät - obwohl sie recht einfach gestrickt ist. Ist okay; kein literarisches Meisterwerk, kein emotionaler Hammer.

Shadow and Bone got 4 Stars because it had its similarities to the Black Magician series, so it wasn't 100 percent original to me. Otherwise, I really liked the book. It was exciting to read, the characters were good (okay, for a sec it reminded me of The Selection...my fault, I got too invested in it. But thank god, the characters in Shadow and Bone were so much better and less annoying). Also, I heard that the story has its russian elements which I couldn't really see except for the names?! Anyway, yay Alina hasn't had red hair! (That's a huge plus for me??).I'm excited to see what will happen in Siege and Storm.

Someone should just go ahead already and push Mal off a cliff. Nikokai, on the other hand, has charmed his way onto a top spot on my list of book boyfriends. I feel like there wasn't happening too much in this book and hope that will change again in the next and last one, but I still really enjoy the world and magic.

Like the previous books (Six of Crows) I really loved the universe and the characters. Especially their ongoing relationship and the different levels of betrayal and love. I was a bit surprised by the nature of the main antagonist and the sadness about him and the really engulfing threat he posed. So overall I really recommend this set! :)

✨𝑅𝑒𝑧𝑒𝑛𝑠𝑖𝑜𝑛✨ „Goldene Flammen“ ist der erste Band der Grisha Trilogie von @lbardugo und der erste Teil des Grishaverse. Hier begleiten wir Alina Starkov eine Kartografin der Ersten Armee, ein einfaches Mädchen, das an ihren Kindheitsfreund Mal hängt, könnte man meinen doch schnell ändern sich die Dinge und die Geschehnisse überhäufen sich regelrecht. Alina selbst, ist ein angenehmer Charakter und gerade durch ihre Dickköpfigkeit mir sehr ans Herz gewachsen, als „normales“ Mädchen muss sie sich bei den Grisha im kleinen Palast erst einmal unter Beweis stellen. Was für sie ein größeres Problem aufwirft. Auch die neben Charaktere wie Genya mochte ich wirklich sehr und Alexander konnte nicht nur Alina‘s Herz erwärmen. Wir treffen im laufe des Buches aber auch noch einige andere Charaktere von denen ich mir erhoffe in den nächsten Teilen mehr zu erfahren. Hier geht es hauptsächlich um Alinas Ausbildung und das kennenlernen der Welt der Grisha. Leigh Bardugo hat eine wahnsinnig schöne Welt erschaffen, angelehnt an russische Märchen, kann man sich die Welt unglaublich gut vorstellen. Die Bezeichnungen der einzelnen Geisha ist sehr vielfältig und so war ich froh vorne im Buch noch eine Liste der jeweiligen Elementarmagier zu finden, denn neben den Wasser, Feuer und Luft Magier gab es noch einige andere. Zwar kommt man mit der Zeit schnell dahinter, dennoch braucht es etwas, bis einem alles bekannt ist und man weiß welche Art von Grisha man vor sich hat. Ein gelungener Reihenauftakt der aber noch Luft nach oben lässt, ich bin gespannt was die beiden anderen Bänder mit sich bringen. Von mir gibt es eine ✨Leseempfehlung ✨für alle die gern neue Magierwelten lieben, eine Slow Burn Story wollen, sind mir „Goldene Flammen“ genau richtig. Eure V.

Nach Six of Crows und Crooked Kingdom musste ich unbedingt die Grisha-Trilogie noch lesen, die ich ja nach dem zweiten Band abgebrochen hatte. Leider hat sich meine Meinung nicht wirklich geändert...es sind weiterhin 3 Sterne dafür. Ich hoffe, dass mir der zweite Teil besser gefällt, als beim letzten Mal (ich habe ihn abegbrochen). Den werde ich hoffentlich im Januar noch schaffen und dann vielleicht auch noch den dritten Teil...dann kann ich die Trilogie endlich abhaken :D
