It was really hard for me to get into the story again. I thoroughly enjoyed some parts but others not so much. I didn't feel comfortable the way Jeri was introduced and their arc was handled. They are such a great character and sometimes the situations were they played a role were just so weirdly handled as if to make sure that it is 100 % clear that the author supports non-binary people. It felt so awkward. I did really love certain aspects of the plot and I'm a fan of the writing overall, but for some reason I just wasn't that happy with the story and the then somehow abrupt yet not surprising and suprising ending where everything ties of so nicely in a forced way. I'm happy I read it and I'm overall a real fan of the premise and idea of this series.

Neal Shusterman is a master at writing, and this whole series is an actual masterpiece. I honestly forced myself to not finish it in one sitting because this book blew my mind on a whole different level. After the way Thunderhead ended, I was hyped and started with The Toll asap. This book did not disappoint. While this book didn't focuse that much on Citra and Rowan (which was neccessary for the story though), and introduced like, 200 new characters; I also started to like the new characters. Especially Jericho became a favorite of mine. I also have grown fond of the Thunderhead. Crazy, right?? The many different point of views made it confusing at times, but in the end, it all came together and made sense. I already loved the diary entries between chapters before; and these "analysis parts" about the Toll were so funny. The story went into a very different than I thought it would. But I love surprises. And the ending was like a fresh breath of air. Full of hope, and nostalgia. If Neal Shusterman ever decides to write a novella about Rowan and Citra, I am here for it. Because I get why he had to include more other characters, I still love these two the most.

I really took my time to read the toll and also took my time to finish it. I love this trilogy cause it was so intriguing from the get go. And I did not see this ending coming at all, to be honest! The book was amazing and besides one tiny little thing everything and everyone was covered in the end. It was a beautiful journey and I loved every minute of it.

This was a truly fantastic ending! Also considering how I waited for one and a half years, hanging on that cliff from the end of book two :( I hadn't reread the series before I started with The Toll, but it was absolutely no problem. I loved reading it and it took me about a week because I was trying to read slowly and enjoy it. There was so much suspense and tension in this book! It was impossible to predict anything and that made it hard to put the book down. The only thing that bothered me are the chapters that are not in chronological order in the beginning. I was okay with being teased about not knowing Rowan's and Citra's fate for the first 100 pages, but I only later noticed that those first chapter were not all happening when I thought they had happened. The problem, for me at least, is that the dates and years are always mentioned, but that meant nothing to me, since the years are not counted and how am I supposed to know if the year of the cobra came before or after the year of the raptor? One day I will reread the book and pay proper attention, I guess. This is really the only issue I can think of. Even though I struggled with that, I was still fascinated by all the events taking place. I think the ending is adequate and I loved it and just want to read moooore :( Once again, Neal Shusterman has proven to be a genius storyteller and given us a fantastic series.

Nachdem mir Band 1 und Band 2 unglaublich gut gefallen hatten war ich sehr gespannt auf das Finale. Und was soll ich sagen.... ich war etwas enttäuscht. Es gab für mich zu viele Handlungsstränge die gleichzeitig abgelaufen sind wodurch ich vor allem zu Beginn einfach nur verwirrt war. Zudem gab es immer wieder zeitliche Rückblenden die man meiner Meinung nach einfach hätte weglassen können. Das Ende hat zwar wieder Sinn gemacht und es hat sich alles in einander gefügt aber es war dennoch ein enttäuschendes Ende, welches ich zwar so nicht erwartet habe, aber man hätte doch etwas anderes erwartet. Vor allem nach Band 2.Gut waren allerdings wieder die Charaktere. Auch wenn wir diesmal wirklich viele begleitet haben, mochte ich alle davon. Jeder Einzelne war auf seine Art individuell und interessant wodurch sie einem einfach ans Herz wachsen mussten.

Oh mann oh mann ich bin gefühlsmäßig am Ende Ich habe total lange gebraucht, um den letzten Teil zu lesen. Das lag aber nicht daran, dass er schlecht war, sondern daran, dass ich nicht wollte, dass es vorbei ist. Zudem hatte mich Maries Tod total demotiviert, ich habe sie so geliebt... Das Ende mit Tyger und Rand war auch so cute omg Auf jeden Fall eine meiner liebsten Reihen, ich kann sie nur empfehlen!

this book felt like a fever dream. what was this convoluted and incoherent mess? the more i think about it, the more i hate it. if this hadn't been the third book in a trilogy i was really invested in, i would have DNFed it straight at the beginning. i really wish i did. now it's one of the most underwhelming and disappointing conclusions i have ever read. what an anticlimactic book! i genuinely felt like i was reading a completely different book by a different author. so instead of reading about the characters that made me love book 1 and 2, we got the POV of 100 other people? so many new characters and side plots that were absolutely unnecessary and added nothing to the story! like sorry but i don't really care about island prop #313, or the tonists, which, if you removed their whole storyline, wouldn't change anything about the outcome..? it was just filler, all they did was convolute and draw everything out, which made this unbelievably dull and boring. it just dragged on and on. the timelines and the pacing were messy too, so many different elements were brought into this book and none of them worked out. then the characters i actually cared about were in this for like 10%. out of 600 (!!) PAGES. and to make things even worse, they became a shell of themselves, behaving so out of character? they were just so passive and didn't do anything! reverse character development, if you will. and all that just for basically nothing of substance to happen, until the end, which was so anticlimactic and felt like a cheap cop-out? there was no payoff at all goddard has one of the worst villain arcs i've ever read about, such a cardboard cutout. so basically... he was just evil for the sake of being evil? with no backstory, no redeeming qualities, and his ending was laughable. i just wanna have a word with neal shusterman because why the hell did he think this was a good way to conclude the series?? what was the point of it all? there was so much potential for this to become one of my favorite dystopian series, but this book ruined it for me. everything just falls apart here. soo i'm just gonna pretend scythe is a standalone (or duology at most). this book doesn't exist and i don't wanna think about it ever again

„Scythe - Das Vermächtnis der Ältesten“ hat die Reihe rund um das Scythetum meiner Meinung nach akzeptabel vervollständigt. Leider konnte mich das Buch nicht annähernd so sehr von sich überzeugen wie die beiden vorherigen Bände der Trilogie. Denn auch wenn mich der Schreibstil nach wie vor begeistern konnte, habe ich die Geschichte diesmal als sehr langatmig empfunden. Trotz dessen konnte mich das Buch in großen Teilen gut unterhalten.

Scythe- die Hüter des Todes wurde von Neal Shusterman geschrieben und ist das erste Buch, das ich von diesem Autor lese. Der Klappentext in Kombination mit dem Cover hat mich bereits sehr neugierig gemacht und das Buch hat mich danach positiv überrascht. Das Buch spielt in einer dystopischen Zukunft und der Autor hat diese sehr gut ausgearbeitet. Die Personen handelten nachvollziehbar und die Geschichte nahm logische Verläufe, die trotzdem oft überraschend kamen und so den einen oder anderen twist beinhalteten. Ich fand die charactere toll. Das buch bietet viel Stoff zum Nachdenken und ich werde mir auf alle fälle bald den nächsten Teil schnappen.

I love it! I really do! BUT! I would have liked to have some good romantic parts. He has been insinuating a lot of stuff but I was a little disappointed when he didn’t follow them trough. Is it so hard to give us one moment between those charakters? Like, Jesus! This book has 600 pages but there was no time to have some real heart to heart moment? Even the protagonists get no time to enjoy themselves. And what is going on with Grayson and that non-binary captain? I need to know! Sorry for being so whiny

Nachdem Enduras zerstört wurde, gibt Scythe Goddard Rowan die Schuld an dem Vorfall und ernennt sich selbst zum High Blade. Aber was Goddard noch nicht weißt ist, dass Rowan und Citra überlebt haben. Meine Zusammenfassung ist extra kurz, ich wollte einfach nicht so viel spoilern. Bei diesem Buch handelt es sich um den 3. und letzten Teil der der Scythe-Trilogie. Teil 1 und 2 habe ich als Hörbuch gehört, der 3. Teil war mir mit über 18 Stunden einfach zu lang. Deshalb habe ich mir den 3. Teil in unserer Bücherei ausgeliehen. Der Autor hat uns mit einem fiesen Cliffhanger zurück gelassen, fängt im 3. Teil aber nicht da an wo er aufgehört hat, sondern erzählt die Handlung erst einmal sehr lange aus der Sicht anderer Charaktere. Als Leser erfährt man erst später was mit Rowan und Citra passiert ist. Mir kommen die beiden im 3. Teil grundsätzlich einfach zu kurz, es gibt ganz wenig Momente zwischen den beiden, was ich sehr schade fand. Dafür rückt Grayson Tolliver und seine seltsame Beziehung zum Thunderhead immer mehr in den Vordergrund. In erster Linie geht es darum, Scyhte Goddarf zu stürzen und hinter die Geheimnisse der Scythe zu kommen. Der Autor geht sehr ins Detail bei manchen Dingen, die ich persönlich nicht immer spannend und interessant fand. Deshalb hat sich die Handlung auch manchmal etwas gezogen. Trotzdem hat mir das Buch insgesamt sehr gut gefallen, wobei ich die anderen beiden Teilen einen Tick besser fand. Das Ende war überrascht, die Handlung ist an sich abgeschlossen. Von mir gibt es für diesen Teil 4 von 5 Punkte.

Leider konnte mich der letzte Teil der Reihe nicht so sehr begeistern, wie die vorherigen Bände. Die Handlung hat sich für mich ziemlich gezogen und durch viele Erzählperspektiven und Zeitsprünge wurde es meiner Meinung nach unnötig kompliziert. Trotzdem kann ich verstehen, warum es so gemacht wurde, auch wenn es mich nicht begeistern konnte. Die Idee an sich und die allgemeine Umsetzung dieser Welt finde ich trotzdem klasse und einzigartig, weshalb ich die Reihe an sich trotzdem empfehlen kann. Auch die letztendlich Auflösung der ganzen Situation hat mich zufrieden gestellt und bildet einen guten Abschluss für dieses Universum.

Aufmachung Tatsächlich ist es das erste Hörbuch, dass ich jemals zu Ende gehört habe. Doch nicht nur der Sprecher war einfach unglaublich, sondern auch der Schreibstil hat mich absolut in seinen Bann gezogen. Die Story ist eingeteilt in die Haupthandlung, die im auktorialen Erzählstil verfasst ist und verschiedene Einträge aus den Scythe Tagebüchern, die in Ich-Form geschrieben sind. Beide Varianten tragen dazu bei die Geschichte und die Diskrepanzen, die die einzelnen Charaktere mit sich und anderen austragen, zu verstehen. Protagonisten Tatsächlich könnte ich hier eine ganz lange Liste erstellen, denn sämtliche Charaktere sind unglaublich authentisch. Einige davon liebenswert. Andere hingegen absolut verachtungswürdig. Allerdings möchte ich mich hierbei auf Citra und Rowan beschränken. Citra Terranova ist ein ganz normales Mädchen. Dazu schlau, fleißig und pflichtbewusst. Sie hasst es zu verlieren, daher ist sie immer bestrebt ihr Bestes zu geben. Rowan Damisch hingegen ist der absolute Durchschnittstyp und bezeichnet sich selbst als das Salatblatt der Familie. Als ein Scythe eines morgens seine Schule betritt, ändert sich alles für ihn. Greyson Tolliver hatte bereits in vorherigen Büchern eine Rolle, doch diese wächst mit dem Moment, in dem er der Toll wird, die einzige Person mit der der Thunderhead spricht. Er ist auf dem Boden geblieben und herzensgut. Fazit Ja, Band 3 hat kleine, dennoch zu verzeihende Längen. Trotzdem gab es nebenher einiges an Spannung und Plottwists, die noch einmal für Spekulationen sorgten. An einigen Stellen hätte ich mir vielleicht etwas mehr zu bestimmten Charakteren gewünscht und das Ende war ganz anders als ich erwartet hatte, aber dennoch schön. Dennoch gehört Scythe zu den besten Reihen, die ich bisher gelesen habe.

Ich habe diese Reihe einfach in mein Herz geschlossen. Eine der besten Dystopien die ich je gelesen habe, so wohl vom Schreibstil als auch der Handlung. Ich hätte nicht gedacht, dass man eine KI so ins Herz schließen kann. Die Komplexität der Unsterblichkeit und die Auslese der Menschen, um die Überpopulation zu verringern, hat mich einfach gepackt und nicht mehr losgelassen. Generell ist die Ausarbeitung der Reihe und der Charaktere sehr genau und es wurde an alles gedacht.

Endlich, endlich war es so weit und ich konnte den dritten und Finalen Band der Scythe Trilogie genießen. Wie auch schon die ersten beiden Teile habe ich diesen als Hörbuch gehört und es war wieder göttlich. Die Hörbücher sind einfach super toll vertont und lohnen sich zu 100 %. . Was natürlich auch an der Geschichte liegt. Denn diese war der Hammer. Spannung von der ersten bis zur letzten Minute. Ich habe förmlich inhaliert. Wir haben hier verschiedene Sprünge in der Zeit und in den Perspektiven, aber das hat überhaupt nicht gestört. Diese Sprünge waren perfekt erarbeitet und haben immer einen Zusammenhang gegeben. Die Storyline an sich fand ich auch super gelungen. Mit diesem Ende hätte ich niemals gerechnet, dennoch war es genau so wie man es sich hätte wünschen können. Das Ende hat für mich nichts offengelassen oder dass man das Gefühl hatte es fehle etwas. Einfach nur großartig. . Ich kann es euch nur wärmstens empfehlen. Von mir bekommt das Buch 5 Sterne denn es war jetzt schon eines der Highlights meines Jahres.

Auch der dritte und letzte Band hat mich komplett abgeholt. Am besten fand ich in allen Teilen die Verbindungen und Anspielungen auf unsere ökologische, politische und soziale Vergangenheit, sowie Gegenwart. Faszinierend mit anderen Modellen zu spielen und zu spekulieren, ob das besser funktioniert. Absolute Leseempfehlung, wer die Welt sehr phantasievoll hinterfragen möchte.
