𝙏𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙧𝙚𝙫𝙞𝙚𝙬 𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙩𝙖𝙞𝙣𝙨 𝙨𝙥𝙤𝙞𝙡𝙚𝙧 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙥𝙧𝙚𝙫𝙞𝙤𝙪𝙨 𝙗𝙤𝙤𝙠 𝙞𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙨𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙚𝙨 (𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙁𝙞𝙣𝙖𝙡 𝙀𝙢𝙥𝙞𝙧𝙚) ! This sequel takes a slower, more political turn than the first book, but I found myself really enjoying that shift. Instead of rushing forward, it pauses to ask questions—like what happens after the villain is defeated. The political chaos in Luthadel and the struggle to rebuild felt grounded and meaningful, adding depth to the story. I especially appreciated the character development. Elend really grew on me—his love for books and idealism made him so relatable. He’s not the typical fantasy hero, but watching him try to lead and grow into his role was genuinely rewarding. The whole group's evolution was handled really well, showing how relationships and roles shift when the world around them changes. The magic system also took a big step forward. With new metals and expanded rules, it became more complex in a way that added richness without feeling overwhelming. You keep learning more, and it draws you deeper into the world. And then there's the ending. That classic Sanderson-style twist—fast-paced, emotional, and absolutely gripping. The Sanderlanch delivered exactly what I hoped for, tying everything together in a thrilling, unforgettable way. Overall, this book may have slowed down in pace, but it grew in heart, complexity, and meaning. A fantastic continuation of the story.

„Sometimes the best response to hatred is to love so deeply that it transforms you“

"I write these words in steel, for anything not set in metal cannot be trusted." This is a master class in storytelling, high fantasy world building, characters, in short everything. It’s such an incredibly crafted world and story that once I started this book I pretty much didn’t stop reading till I was done. I’m also extremely impressed that I was able to get into this story fairly easily, considering it has been 5 years since I read The Final Empire. There were approximately 60 different plot points going at every given time and every single one had so much depth and attention to detail that it worked perfectly. Beneath the big story the big theme this book dealt with was belonging and meaning. So many characters had struggles with what they wanted to do and who they are, with heartbreaking parallels drawn throughout. I got so attached that reading the last Part, where every part of the story peaked and exploded, I was either crying or frozen in shock. Reading the first book you think you know what the series is going to be about but then the last part explodes in your face and you have no idea anymore. Reading the second book you slowly think you’re grasping what is actually happening, only for the end to be a nuclear bomb this time. Now just some random unconnected rambles: -Oreseur my loveeeeeee

The Well of Ascension (Band 2) erwartet.

5+⭐️ HIGHLIGHT For this is the second volume of the series, I tried to keep my review spoiler-free, but it inevitably does spoil some events in some way. In this volume, we get more POVs, which I love. I was particularly thrilled about Sazed's POV. His thirst for knowledge, his perspective on the world, his curiosity, and his calmness really made me devour his parts of the book. Other than Elend's parts, which kind of annoyed me at first due to his naivety and lack of inner growth, but as the story progressed, I also came to enjoy his parts more. There are many more POVs that allow to dive into many characters' minds, and I cried out loud in frustration as I realized that one particularly interesting character only got to be part of the book for such a short time. As already mentioned, I adore multiple POVs, but what really impressed me in this book was Sanderson's ability to create so many unique character voices. The POVs changed multiple times in each chapter, but I was never confused by the numerous switches. On the contrary, it made me even more immersed in the story as I gained so many new perspectives on the happenings. Even though it is a mixture of slow- and fast-paced, I inhaled the book. The plot twists (chapter 47, WTF?!), the unique characters (TenSoon!!!), their thoughts and decisions, and the fact that none of the protagonist are spared from suffering or even dying. I can't... No really, I love the world and the characters Brandon Sanderson created in Mistborn, and I will never EVER stop raving about the magic system. For me, it's utterly satisfying to know that each ability has its price in the form of limited metals. It kind of makes the powers more realistic for me. The magic system in general feels so well-developed, it simply feels right. And last but not least: The overall storyline with the deeply connected epigraphs and the misleading information - incomparable. Pure love for this book. Read. This. Series.

well, well, well.....the well of ascension! Great Book, no doubt and for sure Sanderson at it´s best. BUT this book could def spare around 400pages. The middle part was just waaaaay to long and unnecessary - if this hadn´t been the second mistorn book and a Sanderson Masterpiece I definitely would had DNF it. Maybe it´s because I finished TWOK not long ago and had a similar feeling towards the end, that Sanderson wants to create a slow build up and than let it all crash down and punch you right in the guts right at the end. And so it does! Definitely! But, imho it works way better in TWOK. But to be fair, this book here came out long before TWOK. Great Book, highly recommendable and I am super hooked and excited to finish this trilogy soon.

A masterpiece

While not much happened for most of the book, it was not even the slightest bit boring. Brandon really knows how to write the most mundane scenes in a way that you feel like youre learning something about the characters, the world or even yourself. It took me a while to pick it up after finishing the first one, but as this one plays a year later, it was actually kinda fitting. The feelings of all the characters, the powers, the plot twists, it all felt so natural. They had such great personal growth, were so relatable in a way I haven’t read before. While english isnt my first language it didnt hinder me in the slightest. His use of words can be so grand but is always understandable in the context. Also, while there are many characters it was pretty easy to follow and remember them. Which role they played, what kind of character they had. And the few times you saw their perspective, it absolutely made sense. Nothing felt forced, no romance part, no friendship part, no fighting part. Not one chapter failed to surprise me, as there was always something happening, but it also never felt overwhelming. Im glad I picked these books up even though the amount of them frightened me a bit. I havent felt so good after finishing a book for a long while. Even though I most times really like the process of reading them, I can always find something to critizice. Be it characters, parts of the story, worldbuilding, or even how it was written, the grammar. Not here though. Sorry for rambling, I just hope I convinced even one person to read this wonderful book. Easily one of the best Ive ever read.

Wer regiert? Was für ein System gibt es? Wer bekommt welche Rolle?

what. a. plot. twist. This book was just great. I liked the beginning and LOVED the last ~300 pages, the middle part however was a bit slow and at times it felt as if we were going in circles. However I still really enjoyed reading this book and can't wait to finish this trilogy very soon. I think the characterbuilding in this whole series is the best I ever read, the magic system as well. There is not much more one could wish for in a fantasy series. It felt like I took a long time getting to know these people and now I really understand them and respect them for who they are with all their flaws (and let me tell you they have quite a lot of this). Nothing felt rushed but also not too slow, just somehow taking a realistic time, which I really appreciate. The whole political system as well is SO intriguing, I LOVE the choice of Sanderson to use fictional religious traditions as a base for a book the way he did. The magical system, as I said before, is great as well. It is explained so deeply throughout the books without sounding forced, one gets to understand it and it feels natural and right. There are no strange plotwholes or moments of confusion because the reader doesn't know how the hell this works - everything somehow makes sense. I could talk on and on about how great this story is but I'll just tell yall to GO READ THIS.

Schade.

Fucking exquisite. Even better than The Final Empire. *Potential spoilers* “The men I read about, Sazed,” Tindwyl said quietly, “these were not men who sat and planned the best ways to hide. They fought; they sought victory. Sometimes, they were reckless—and other men called them fools. Yet, when the dice were cast and the bodies counted, they were men who changed things.” "In short, Elend Venture, you lost the throne because you are a good man.” "Love must be allowed to flow both ways—if it is not, then it is not truly love, I think. It is something else. Infatuation, perhaps? Either way, there are some of us who are far too quick to make martyrs of ourselves. We stand at the side, watching, thinking that we do the right thing by inaction. We fear pain—our own, or that of another.” “Sazed, I’ve raised some fifteen daughters,” Tindwyl said, entering the room. “No teenage girl is stable. Some are just better at hiding it than others.” But, somehow, the possibility that some would escape—the youngest crewmembers, the ones still inexperienced enough to hope—made everything else a little easier to accept. “Why?” Straff asked, looking out through the slit. “I sent assassins to kill you. Why are you letting me live?” “Because you’re my father,” Zane said. He turned away, looking into the mists. “A man shouldn’t kill his father.” Cett shook his head. “The good men are all dead, Allrianne. They died inside that city.” The wooden disk Sazed had given him earlier that same day tied to a loop around his neck. It hadn’t helped. He released his brassmind, and let the night’s cold wash over him. He didn’t want to feel warm at the moment. His lantern flickered uncertainly, illuminating the street, shadowing the icy corpse. There, in that frozen alley of Luthadel, looking down at the corpse of the woman he loved, Sazed realized something. He didn’t know what to do. He tried to think of something proper to say—something proper to think—but suddenly, all of his religious knowledge seemed hollow. What was the use in giving her a burial? What was the value in speaking the prayers of a long-dead god? What good was he? The religion of Dadradah hadn’t helped Clubs; the Survivor hadn’t come to rescue the thousands of soldiers who had died. What was the point? None of Sazed’s knowledge gave him comfort. He accepted the religions he knew—believed in their value—but that didn’t give him what he needed. They didn’t assure him that Tindwyl’s spirit still lived. Instead, they made him question. If so many people believed so many different things, how could any one of them—or, even, anything at all—actually be true? Straff stared into the sky, riveted by the strange object. It grew more distinct as it fell. It wasn’t an arrow, nor was it a rock. It was a person—a person with a flapping mistcloak. “No!” Straff yelled. She’s supposed to be gone! Which was more potent? The pain of memory, or the pain of forgetting? “I love you,” she whispered. She let the power go. She held the capacity to become a deity in her hands, and she gave it away, releasing it to the waiting void. She gave up Elend. Because she knew that was what he wanted. Alendi must not be allowed to reach the Well of Ascension, for he must not be allowed to release the thing that is imprisoned there. Sazed sat back. It was the final blow, the last strike that killed whatever was left of his faith. He knew at that moment that he would never believe again. The Mistborn Trilogy The Final Empire: 4.5/5 stars The Well Of Ascension: 5/5 stars

The best last 100 Pages I will probably ever read! Yes, the book is very slow paced, but there are enough highlights to make you keep reading. It's not a Heist Story like the first one. It is way more political. Elend and Vin are such amazing protagonists, and you will constantly question your own theories while reading the book!

What kind of drug does Sanderson put in these books? Cause it's heavily addictive. I loved this from "I write these words in steel" to "We're going to survive" (first sentence to last sentence) No flaws 10/10. This had so many aspects that I love. The found family and their intimate and wholeheartedly convesations. I loved those so much. All these characters that are so thought-through. And getting to know them much more than in the first book, is what really stood out to me and what I enjoyed a lot. Worldbuilding is amazing and the political intrigues and machinations are very intricate but at the same time Sanderson describes and lays them out so clearly which makes it really easy to follow along. As someone who's first language isn't english I appreciate that a lot. Last but not least I loved the plottwist. Oh my god. (Or «by the Lord Ruler») I did not see that coming. So much build-up to a point where you think you know who it is and then boom, it's someone else entirely. At least I did not see that coming. I really loved this, ate it up and might just have to think about this for the rest of my life and envy thos who get to read this for the first time

What other reviews day is true. I had read a lot of reviews of this book, and what most of them said turned out to be true. This book has pacing issues, and it was a bit of a slog to get through. That being said, it's important to remember that it is the middle book of a trilogy, and therefore you are getting only the middle of the begging. Middle and end of a story structure, and I always find that the middle of stories already drag a little anyway. What I want to stress though, is that the pay off is well worth it! I was considering taking a break from Mistborn for a couple of books, but after reading that ending, I have no choice but to continue!

My expectations weren't met at all. How is it called the well of ascention when it's only the last 50 pages and the rest is this boring politicking and war preparations? The book could have been just half as long. I kind of liked the love triangle but it was so sparse, it really didn't need to be included. Will skip the rest of the series as I don't get along with Brandon.

I am finallllyyy done with this! AH! Two things. -- I wasn't very impressed even though I was an excited little kitten when I started this. -- WHAT HAPPENED IN THE END? I thought I will get over with the series because of how slow this book was but then things happened and I want to pick up the third book ASAP. ----- Review finally. So as I have already stated. I was very very excited about this book but then... I read... I read 100 pages, then 200, then 300...so on... not until 600page did the story actually started moving. Not lying. I was enjoying this but I wasn't enjoying it. Do you know what I mean? Maybe it was the high of the last book but this second book... boring. If you could just skip it all together? I will list down the reasons for you.. if you think I am being silly. I even discussed it with my friend who is a MISTBORN fan and he agreed. - Elend kept having long political discussions and Vin was just confused and was punching people. Meaningless. - Vin was always SO SAD and doubtful. - Characters in the book were just annoying the hell out of me. - I miss the epicness and all the twists that the first book had. - I had invested a lot of time in this for just politics that I do not enjoy... But then when I disliked it so much why three stars, you may ask? Because I still have hope and because people around me consoled me and told me it's going to be all fine.. showed me a different perspective.. writing that down for you.. - We spend quality time with the characters which I am hoping will help in the third book or I WILL BE VERY MAD. - Zane. Good character, too bad tho that his only characteristic was 'Crazy'. Could have, would have added a lot more layers to the story. - And just that END. That twist. IS. ALL. I. WANTED. Only because of these three points I will continue with the series. I might have stopped if the first book wasn't as epic as it was. I wish the book was smaller than it is!
