It's books like these that stoke my love for reading. This trilogy was great. It began slow but it was obviously for us to understand the world, characters and their circumstances. I ended up loving all the characters - the Lord Ruler included. I learned more about him as the other characters did - which I loved. Vin, Eland, Sazed..... This trilogy was so well thought out. After reading these series of books, there is no way I'll settle anything less ever again. No lesser books from now on
𝙏𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙧𝙚𝙫𝙞𝙚𝙬 𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙩𝙖𝙞𝙣𝙨 𝙨𝙥𝙤𝙞𝙡𝙚𝙧 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙥𝙧𝙚𝙫𝙞𝙤𝙪𝙨 𝙗𝙤𝙤𝙠𝙨 𝙞𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙨𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙚𝙨 ! I expected a Sanderlanche—but wow. What an ending. This final book in the Mistborn trilogy absolutely floored me. The pacing is relentless, constantly pulling you forward, yet never at the expense of depth or emotion. I found myself on the edge of my seat, racing through battle scenes that were not only fast-paced but so vividly detailed, I felt every clash and every moment of desperation. The magic system, already brilliant in earlier books, becomes even more layered and intricate here, and the worldbuilding expands in mind-blowing ways. Just when I thought I had a handle on things, Sanderson pulled the rug out from under me. I didn’t see the ending coming at all—and when it hit, it hit hard. I felt a little dumb, in the best way, like I’d been masterfully outplayed. The plotting and foreshadowing are truly next level. Watching every thread, every detail from the series come together like puzzle pieces clicking into place was incredibly satisfying. Themes of sacrifice and loss are deeply woven in, and by the end, I wasn’t just reading a story—I was feeling the weight of it. Getting to learn more about TenSoon and the Kandra added a whole new emotional layer, making the world feel even richer. The conclusion is everything a series finale should be: powerful, poignant, and absolutely unforgettable. I’ve never been more sad to finish a series. The ending left me staring at the wall.
Mind blowing. Everything clicked in the last few chapters. I cried a lot, that’s it!!!!
I am speechless. I don’t know how I expected the story to end but this was beyond anything I could have imagined.
Starkes Ende, insgesamt etwas langwierig
Was ein starkes Ende.
5+⭐️ HIGHLIGHT I can't even begin to explain how intensely this book made me feel. It evoked hope, despair, thrill, and so much more. This book, and the series as a whole, is top-tier—I've never read anything comparable. The characters are unmatched in depth and uniqueness, they are so well developed. As I've mentioned in a previous review, Brandon Sanderson is a genius at creating distinct character voices. I hated seeing each chapter come to an end and switch to a new perspective, only to repeat this feeling over and over again. Each character's point of view brought different attitudes, situations, and problems, all equally exciting and captivating. The worldbuilding and plot are also absolutely unmatched. There's no other book series with such an incomparable, let's call it 'power system,' as Mistborn has. The moment I learned about Allomancy (etc.) in the first book, I knew this could get interesting—and it certainly did. I'm still speechless at how unpredictable the series' ending turned out to be. So many hints in the beginning made it seem like it would be foreseeable, but it was impossible to predict. The Hero of Ages forced me to put the book down multiple times to digest certain events and process the shards of information revealed bit by bit as I read on. The ending of this book somehow truly managed to change the way I view our world. Right now, I can't recall any other book having such a profound impact on how I see the world and human beliefs. I don't just love this series, I ADMIRE it in every aspect.
Just wow
While this book is a bit slower than the other two, its still as good. It sums up everything in a very nice way, revealing many things that were behind these small little problems throughout the whole story. I loved the different POVs in this book. How every character felt fleshed out with their own problems goals and, well, characteristics. How they all stumbled, made their personal growth. The last hundred pages had me „uhuh?“-ing multiple times, because the story went kind of a different course than I would have thought (Which is very great, I long for books that dont just set a goal that needs accomplished and then there is some kind of betrayal oh noo but they still get it because love or something) thus having me at the edge of my seat there. Brandon also does something very great: describing and reminding the reader of powers, people, events and goals, while also making us concentrate on (or forget) the same things as the Main Characters. I was just as surprised when a plot twist happened, and then thought that it was just so logical! How could I, seeing the story unfold through multiple POV, not have seen that?! The end was beautiful and unexpected and the characters are way smarter than I am. Throughout the last few days, I read into the night, nearly falling asleep with the book in hand, multiple times. And immediately after finishing at 1am, I ordered the second box of books. They are just that good.
I HAVE NO WORDS AND NO TEARS LEFT TO CRY
Absolutely insane!
I have never felt this way after a book. Admittedly I have not read as many books in my life, but this is what a 5 star read feels like. The story so well crafted from beginning to end. Everything makes sense at one point. What an amazing end to the trilogy! It left me feeling so sad, but so satisfied at the same time
I'm seriously considering to lower all my other 5-star-ratings to 4-star-ratings so that this Book can get the outstanding rating it deserves. good night. full review will come in the next days.
Perfection. This was absolutely incredibly written, and somehow makes me appreciate the rest of the series even more. I can't wait to read this again the future. *Potential Spoilers* "That is why we worship him. He still had the follies of a man, but he had the hopes of a divinity.” “So, Elend …” Cett said. “If you die, I’m in charge, right?” Yet, it was hard to not feel foolish speaking the words to a force she did not understand, a thing that existed beyond men and beyond worlds. Do not mourn because the day of this world’s end has arrived, Ruin said. That end was ordained the very day of the world’s conception. There is a beauty in death—the beauty of finality, the beauty of completion. For nothing is truly complete until the day it is finally destroyed. In that way, he was both one of the smartest and most ignorant men who had ever lived—he had memorized so much, but had intentionally forgotten it all. Possibilities to land safely on the other side of the chasm, even when logic told him not to jump. “No,” Ham repeated. “We shouldn’t attack.” “Ham?” Elend said, feeling a surreal amusement. “Did you actually come to a conclusion?” Ham smiled. “Cett’s going to be furious.” Elend shrugged. “He’s a paraplegic. What’s he going to do? Bite us?" To believe, it seemed, one had to want to believe. It was a conundrum, one Sazed had wrestled with. He wanted someone, something, to force him to have faith. He wanted to have to believe because of the proof shown to him. You don’t know what I do for mankind, the Lord Ruler had said. And I didn’t, Vin thought. "I’ve felt like a man waiting his turn before the headsman ever since we spotted those Koloss. Maybe the Survivor doesn’t want us to succeed here. Sometimes, people just have to die.” The life of a person is more than the chaos of its passing. Emotion, Ruin. This is your defeat. The Mistborn Trilogy - 14/15 stars The Final Empire: 4.5/5 stars The Well Of Ascension: 5/5 stars The Hero Of Ages: 4.5/5 stars
What an incredible book! A perfect ending, for a perfect trilogy. Everyone who loves fantasy MUST read this!
I will need 1-2 business weeks to recover from this ❤️🩹
Part 1-4: 3 stars Part 5: 5 stars writing style: -1 star
I just finished this book and the buildup to the end...the revelations... the things that happened. I sit here crying but also in a deep state of peace. I can only recommend this entire trilogy to...well, everybody.
The perfect ending As with the first two volumes in this trilogy, these books are not perfect, but then no book really is! This book is however, the perfect ending for the story being told, kept me guessing right up to the end, had left me really satisfied and I'm certain it will stick with me for a very long time!
Finally a series that is complete. Too many open endings had made me a non believer like Sazed. When i picked up this series, i had expected it to be ver one dimensional. How wrong i was. Not trying to be one of the heavyweights, it still had enough elements to keep me hooked for 2000+ pages. Philosophy, religion, emotions, characters, Sanderson painted all this effortlessly and thankfully just managed to stay away from being didactic. Most fantasy authors are so busy in detailing their world that the fight sequences and dialogues become secondary. However this series engrossed me in the actions so much that I could feel the tension trying to anticipate the next moves. Not for people who like to read 5 pages describing each setting, this was a series that never removed its foot from the accelerator.
