4.5stars At the beginning i thought its going to be a cheesy romcom because of the whole “i run into a cute boy and fall into his arms” thing..and it was kind of cheesy but in a good way! This book had enough depth to not only be a cheesy romance, the anxiety representation was very well executed and kind of heartbreaking. It was very easy to feel the connection between harper and dan! he was such a simp i loved it!! Trigger warnings: anxiety, panic attacks, parent loss

Harper is anxiously awaiting placement into a top oral surgery residency program when she crashes (literally) into Dan. Harper would rather endure a Novocaine-free root canal than face any distractions, even one this adorable. A first-year dental student with a family legacy to contend with, Dan doesn’t have the same passion for pulling teeth that Harper does. Though he finds himself falling for her, he is willing to play by Harper’s rules. So with the greatest of intentions and the poorest of follow-throughs, the two set out to be “just friends.” But as they get to know each other better, Harper fears that trading fillings for feelings may make her lose control and can’t risk her carefully ordered life coming undone, no matter how drool-worthy Dan is. Blood, gore, and extra-long roots? No problem. The idea of falling in love? Torture.
To be honest I don’t have much to say to this book. It wasn’t anything special but I still kinda liked it. It was lighthearted and cute. To be honest I didn’t expect it do be about oral surgery since the name is literally "a brush with love" and there’s toothpaste on the cover. It’s also not what I exactly expected because I thought it would be like a work place romance but they still go to dental school. Harper and Dan are both 26 years old. Tbh I don’t really know what to think of Harper and Dan, they were cute but idkkk. I loved Judy tho !! (Harpers cat). In this book there was also quite the angst. Harper has anxiety and has a lot of struggle with dealing with it. Dan feels like he’s being emotionally forced to do something he doesn’t want at all (be a dentist) because of a family legacy thing. I’m glad Dan worked things out with his mom near the end and that their relationship got better because I didn’t like her at all at the start. I didn’t hate Harpers friend group but it wasn’t one that really got me. I don’t really know what else to say. The fluff was cute and I liked the writing style. Even though this book was quite short (320 pages) it took me almost a week to read cause of work and stuff so yeahhh.
A cute book, with a lot of meaningful and important input!
This is a cute book with some darker but important subjects. It speaks about anxiety, grief, what's important in life, and puts a nice contrast to the sweet storyline of Dan and Harper. I enjoyed reading it!
