The "Sci Fi meets underwater" setting is alright but it's not really the first book around Jeremy Logan. He appears literally in one chapter as a side character. Read this one if you wanna get something like Solaris, Sphere or Abyss and don't except more.
It was interesting and I liked how it was written, but it just didn't blow me away. I appreciated, that the author tried to give the characters interests and traits, but except for Asher, I never cared for anyone longterm. Some twists were good, others were not that exciting. There were some bits were the book defied my expectations, but it also was a lot like I imagine every other story like this to be. In generell, I had fun, but I doubt this will leave any kind of lasting impression. However, I don't think it was written with that intent anyhow. It's designed to be readable for the masses, with no elements that would throw many people off. If you like this kind of research mystery / thriller, I guess you would like this one as well. For me, there was nothing special about it, but it was still easy to get through and enjoy.
