Great author, but this book is a ‘NO’!
I loved ‘The Housemaid’ series and ‘The Boyfriend’ by Freida McFadden, so I thought her books were no-brainers. However, ‘The Crash’ just wasn’t for me. Yes, it was an easy, fast-paced read with short chapters, quick shifts in POV and super smooth writing style. The twists and the structure were well crafted, too. But unlike the others, this one didn’t pull me in. I didn’t really enjoy the premise, how the story unfolded or the characters. Tegan felt flat, naive and stereotypical and the rest of the characters didn’t offer much more. The depiction of motherhood, unwanted childlessness and mental health issues wasn’t inappropriate, but it’s simply not what I’m looking for when I want to be entertained. I’ve got one more Freida book lined up, so here’s hoping I enjoy that one a bit more!
