Ich liebe Ali Hazelwoods Schreibstil!! Und ich fand auch Deep End richtig gut 🫶🏻 ich mochte vor allem den großen Anteil an Therapie und das Sports Setting (Leistungsschwimmen & Turmspringen) auch wenn es anfangs viel um kink und BDSM ging, wurden die Themen für mich erwachsen angesprochen und reflektiert sowie das Thema Verletzungen im Leistungssport - 4 Sterne von mir ⭐️

Es steht Ali Hazelwood drauf und es ist Ali Hazelwood drin. Es ist mal was anderes als die typische new-adult romance die man so kennt. Das Englisch ist super einfach und lässt sich richtig flüssig lesen. Es gibt kein unnötiges Drama, keinen third-act breakup und trotzdem werden wichtige Themen behandelt. Perfekt für zwischendurch!

Is the BDSM in the room with us? 👀 It was enjoyable, even though I had a few issues. First of all, Pen was in it waaaay too much. Like, how annoying can one person be? Pen: Hold my beer. I really enjoyed Scarlett’s character! And even though I liked Lukas, he was definitely lacking some depth. Still, it was a good read, and the spice was decent — even if the kink was hiding somewhere unknown.

Ich hatte sehr viel Spaß mit diesem Buch. Die Story ging schnell voran und hat mich auch von Anfang an überzeugt. Die Protagonistin Scarlett ging mir leider in ein paar Szenen ziemlich auf die Nerven, aber dafür war der männliche Protagonist umso charmanter. Ein schwedischer Olympia-Schwimmer…muss ich noch mehr sagen? 🥰 Um es kurz zu halten: Mal wieder ein klasse Buch von Ali Hazelwood für die leichte Lektüre zwischendurch. 💕

Uff… „Deep End“ hat mich ein bisschen schwimmen lassen. 😵‍💫 Ich hab mich sooo auf dieses Buch gefreut!! Und ja, der Anfang war wirklich cute. Die Blicke, die Wortgefechte und dieses ständige Knistern.. I was totally hooked. Aber irgendwann war’s mir ein bisschen zu viel Drama und zu wenig Tiefe. 😭 Don’t get me wrong! Ich hab’s definitiv nicht bereut, es zu lesen. Die Chemie stimmt, es gibt ein paar richtig süße, und spicy, Szenen, und wer auf Ali Hazelwoods Stil steht, wird sicher happy. 😮‍💨🫶🏼 Für mich war’s aber eher ein solid read, kein Highlight. Fazit: Cute, spicy & emotional, aber nicht ganz so deep wie erhofft. 💧

I couldn’t wait to dig into another very promising Ali Hazelwood story. The marketing team did a great job hyping the book up till its release, so my expectations were sky-high. And maybe that was my downfall, because I didn’t end up loving Deep End as much as I thought I would. Let me start with our two main characters. Lucas Blumqvist is yet another all-knowing, all-seeing wunderkind who excels at everything. Scarlett Vandermeer felt like a template: overachieving perfectionist who never failed once in her life, somehow lived in a Glinda-style bubble where she didn’t notice literally anything or anyone around her. A tragic past and fun side characters still don’t make her interesting by default. The one character I really liked was Penelope. Controversial opinion perhaps, but hear me out! Even if she’s technically the antagonist to Scarlett and Lucas’ love story, she added something the others didn’t. She’s messy, clearly flawed, and more real than the main two. I get why some people might not like her, especially for continuing to fake-date her ex to keep up the picture-perfect façade; and sometimes I have been more interested in her story than in Scarlett’s. Overall, the story is still classic Hazelwood: super sweet, clever, and funny. She really has perfected the art of writing men who yearn and fall first. Definitely spicier than most of her other works 🔥 I'd honestly rather have the younger generation think this is what BDSM looks like than whatever 50 Shades tried to be, so there's that.  The sports theme was a nice change, more in the focus than the BDSM topic. But still wouldn’t really call it a sports romance. Though I might be mistaken on that since I haven’t read many others to compare. I was totally thrown off by the constantly changing chapter lengths. It disrupted my reading flow and made it hard to build or keep tension. Don’t get me wrong though, I liked Deep End. I had a good time with it. But I just wanted more out of it. More depth, a bit more common sense, and main characters that felt true, not just like polished blueprints. If Hazelwood would decide to write a teacher-student, maybe age-gap, story about Pen, I'd be the first in line to read it! 3 ⭐️ / 5 ⭐️

Meine Güte, meine Güte. Mein erstes Buch von Ali Hazelwood und meine Lieben Leute, das wird ganz sicher nicht das letzte gewesen sein. Es war alles was mein Herz begehrt hat. Irgendwann war ich so süchtig nach diesem Buch, ich hab mir den Wecker gestellt um meine Zeit mit lesen statt schlafen zu verbringen. Das soll was heißen!!! Lukas und Scarlett waren extrem gut beschriebene Charaktere. Ich konnte mich so gut in Scarlett’s Gefühlswelt einfühlen, obwohl ich ein ganz ganz anderer Typ bin. Es war top! Perfekt! Großartig! Unfassbar! Kommt zu meinen Lieblingen und wird weiterempfohlen. Meine Güte, ich glaub Ali ist eine neue Lieblings-Autorin! Mehr mehr mehr davon!!!

Deep End von Ali Hazelwood war einerseits überhaupt nicht das was ich von dem Buch erwartet habe und dennoch war es um Meilen besser als das was ich davon erwartet habe 🤭 Das Ali Hazelwood Romance‘s Spice enthalten ist ja nichts Neues, mit Deep End wurde aber eine ganz neue Richtung angeteasert. Tatsächlich hatte ich deswegen zunächst Bedenken ob ich das Buch mögen würde. Ich habe absolut nichts gegen Spice habe wenn es in die Story passt, wähle aber Bücher auch nicht aus, weil sie viel Spice haben sollen. Meine Bedenken diesbezüglich waren aber komplett unbegründet. Tatsächlich war die Beziehung in diesem Buch unglaublich toll entwickelt, sehr tiefgründig und auch sehr gesund. Lukas und Scarlett sagen klar was ihre Erwartungshaltungen aneinander sind und fordern sich dabei gegenseitig heraus die beste Version ihrer selbst zu sein! Der Anfang des Buches hat sich minimal gezogen, danach geht es aber direkt in unsere Story und behält eine schöne Entwicklung und ein gutes Pacing bei 💕 Gespickt mit wichtigen Mental Health Themen, interessanten Einblicken in den Sport des Turmspringens und mit einem kleinen Cameo bekannter Charaktere ist Deep End das erste Ali Hazelwood Buch seit The Love Hypothesis bei dem ich wieder den Ali Hazelwood Charme gespürt habe, den ich seitdem suche 🥹

Well, it's by Ali Hazelwood, so it can't be a total dumpsterfire, so I thought. And I was right. It's definitely... a lot (take that as you will) and certainly not for a younger audience. Like, no. NO! I mean it. It's a couple shades spicier than Love Hypothesis, more like Bride. Her characters are kind of always the same (intelligent, smartipants, overachieving and traumatised girl and seemingly emotionally unavailable, also intelligent, tall, broad and handsome and also slightly traumatised guy), the story is rather straight forward, but if you like her other novels and have a spice tolerance, there is no reason why you won't like this one, too.

Scarlett Vandermeer and Lukas Blomqvist are a competetive diver and the world’s best swimmer. When they accidentally discover they share similar sexual desires, they plunge into a secret world of pleasure, playfully exploring their wants and needs. This was my first Ali Hazelwood book and I was genuinely surprised in the best way. What I appreciated most was that Scarlett and Lukas develop a consensual sexual relationship built on trust and honest communication. We have two healthy and self-aware protagonists here who both grow significantly over the course of the story. Scarlett’s character and feelings, from the initial spark of desire through a spiral of lust, shame and longing for more, felt so relatable. In the best sense of the phrase, ‘Deep End’ truly got under my skin. If ‘Deep End’ is anything, it’s certainly not your bog-standard vanilla sports romance. It’s set in the world of Stanford’s academic swimming and diving scene, but the real focus lies in Scarlett and Luk’s emotional and sexual journey into (soft) BDSM. I’d recommend this book to anyone curious about the topic, but not in the way dark romance books typically depict it. If the BDSM aspect doesn’t appeal to you, you’re unlikely to enjoy the rest either because that’s undeniably the core of the story.

Ich dachte, ich lande hier in einem romantischen YA-Roman, der die ein oder andere hitzige Szene enthält, und plötzlich bin ich kopfüber in einem ziemlich spicy (die Jugend von heute…), witzigen und absolut fesselnden Tauchgang. Hazelwoods Humor ist on point, die Figuren haben Tiefe, und die Story ist überraschend vielschichtig und erfreulich undramatisch. Bis auf den Schluss. Das Hollywood-Ende war mir too much, dafür gibt’s einen halben Stern Abzug. Aber unterm Strich? Großartig! 👏🏻 🇺🇸 Whooohoo – what a dive! I thought I was in for a sweet, slightly steamy YA romance, but suddenly I found myself headfirst in a spicy (the kids today, huh?), funny, and totally captivating plunge. Hazelwood’s humor is on point, the characters have depth, and the story is surprisingly layered and refreshingly low on drama. Except for the ending – that Hollywood finish was a bit too much for me, so I’m knocking off half a star. But overall? Fantastic! 👏🏻

I found the characters quite intriguing and liked them. I can highly recommend Ali Hazelwood. I've loved all of her books so far, and I love her writing style!

Scarlett und Lukas funktionieren einfach zusammen. Ich bin super schnell in die Handlung rein gekommen und wollte das Buch ab der Hälfte auch gar nicht mehr weglegen 🫣 Es geht hier nicht nur um ihre Sportarten, das Turmspringen und Schwimmen, welche sie wie besessen trainieren, sondern auch um innere Konflikte und psychische Probleme die so eine Leidenschaft für den Sport mit sich bringt ... Ali Hazelwood schafft es hier jedoch, die Zwei auf dem schmalen Grad zwischen toxischer Abhängigkeit und gesundem emotionalen Support/Rückhalt zu balancieren. Denn aus Sex und gemeinsamen Vorlieben kann sich vielleicht auch etwas viel Tiefergehendes entwickeln. ❤️‍🩹 Ein absolut schönes Buch und empfehlenswert für Jede/n, die/der eine langsame Romanze (mit einer Dosis Spice 🌶) und ohne große Spielchen & Intrigen lesen will ✨️

Yes, they talk about BDSM and their kinks, and of course you might think of that Fifty Shades of Grey belt scene and his playroom—but this is different. It’s more about the sub and dom mentality. I don’t know much about it myself, but I think it’s a spectrum and about knowing your own limits. What I liked was how they communicated openly about what they wanted and needed, and how they made sure both felt good and respected. All in all, I really enjoyed the smut. I also liked the depth of the characters and the messiness of the relationship. Scarlett being scared felt so real, because relationships are messy and scary sometimes. Lukas wouldn’t be my type of man, but the main characters fit so well together and grew as a couple. I still don’t fully understand the U.S. school system, so there were a few things I didn’t quite get. And honestly, I was impressed by how they managed to do all the stuff they did—I'm already happy when I manage to go to every event during the week! I also liked the relationship between Pan and Scarlett. She wasn’t just a mentioned best friend, but had a real role in the story, which made it feel more realistic and alive. And the diving parts were really nice, too. I didn’t understand every term, but it was a cool and interesting topic for the book.

Rezension: Mir hat das Buch ziemlich gut gefallen. Ich mochte das Setting sehr gerne, sowie die Personen. Ich mochte, dass man im Verlauf auch eine Wandlung der Figuren mitbekommen hat. Die spicy Szenen fand ich gut eingearbeitet, wobei ich aber gut fand, dass es hier besser in die Geschichte eingebaut wurde und nicht mehrere Kapitel lang nur davon handelt, wie bei Not in Love. 🥬 Mein Salat dazu: ICH! LIEBE! ALI! HAZELWOOD! Eigentlich müsste ich hier gar nichts mehr schreiben. Diese Aussage beinhaltet einfach alles, was es mal wieder zu sagen gibt. Denn egal zu welchem Buch ich von ihr greife (außer Check & Mate, Check & Mate braucht wirklich niemand)… es ist ein absoluter Banger! Wo fangen wir an, wo hören wir auf!? Der Schreibstil: Zum niederknien. Ein absoluter Page-Turner. Man merkt einfach gar nicht wie schnell man durch dieses Buch fliegt. Man kann es gar nicht mehr aus der Hand legen. Abolut umwerfend! Die Charaktere: Oh mein Gott Scarlett - schon wieder eine Protagonistin die absolut perfekt ist. Nicht glatt und rund, sondern jede Menge Ecken und Kanten. Kein 0815 Stereotyp sondern ein humorvoller, intelligenter und doch total unsicherer Mensch. Symphatiepunkte: 12/10. Lukas - gut, das Kinky-Ding ist jetzt nicht ganz so meins. Aber ich liebe alles an ihm. Er ist so unperfekt-perfekt. Der Plott: Sports-Romance meets BigBangTheorie meets Kinky as hell! Und das mit einer richtig guten Priese Humor. Diese Kombination ist einfach grandios. Wenn man denkt “Was hab ich mit Wasserspringen zu tun” oder “ein Studium in Humanbiologie- wtf” oder auch “auf was für nen Smut stehen die denn jetzt bitte”: Ihr wollte genau diese Kombination, lasst es euch von mir gesagt sein. Denn alles ist in seinen kleinen Anteilen als Zutat in genau der richtigen Menge vorhanden, sodass es das Gericht eures Lebens wird (jetzt bekomme ich hunger). Wenn euch das noch nicht zum lesen dieses Buches bewegen konnte (oder mein verzweifelter Versuch etwas Humor einfließen zu lassen), dann vielleicht einfach noch mal das: ICH! LIEBE! ALI! HAZELWOOD!

Hach… die ersten 30% habe ich geliebt und das Ende-Ende auch. Leider war mir das dazwischen (für ein Ali Hazelwood Buch) zu schwach. Ich fand Scarlett schon bisschen zu kindisch (außer beim Spice-da war sie dann plötzlich so Erwachsen-mit 21?!), vor allem im Hinblick auf Pen und Lukas. Also ganz ehrlich aber da wird sie BFFs mit Pen und denkt es wird besser, wenn sie ihr die Thematik einfach verschweigt?? Anstatt es gleich am Anfang zu sagen, wo die beiden noch nicht so eng waren- versteh ich nicht. Das Sportthema fand ich hingegen ganz cool und auch die Easter Eggs (OLIVE!!!). Wobei mir das am Ende dann zu kurz kam, ebenso wie die rasche Auflösung des Problems. Der Spice war mir persönlich auch etwas zu … eigen (?). Ich freue mich aber trotzdem sehr über jedes weitere Ali Book ♥️!

I really liked this book. It was the second book I read from Ali Hazelwood & I really get the hype. She’s a great writer & it was so easy to fly through this one, I really dived into the whole story. I don’t know what it is with this type of ending & me - but I just don’t like these “a few years in the future, showing a still happy couple”-endings. I know, it must sound absolutely weird, but I can’t help it. But all in all I really enjoyed reading this & I definitely think I will read more of her books in the future.

Eine süße Geschichte für zwischendurch, 50 Shades of Grey trifft auf Turmspringen. Der Sportaspekt hat mir echt gut gefallen, das wirkte sehr authentisch. Die Lovestory war auch süß, aber irgendwie war von Anfang an völlig klar, wie die Beziehung sein wird, und das hat sich dann noch auf 300 Seiten gezogen, da hat mir etwas die Spannung gefehlt.

Gutes Buch für zwischendurch. 😊 Ab und an hatte es seine Längen und ich war manchmal echt von den Charakteren genervt. Was sollte das Drama kurz vor Ende des Buchs bitte..? 🤨 Trotzdem würde ich Deep End weiterempfehlen. Das Ende war total schön zu lesen und die Mischung aus Kink und Romance war genau richtig. 🫶🏻

Für Leute, die gerne Dark romance lesen, ist alles, was hier zu BDSM vorkommt, vielleicht langweilig, aber für mich ist das sonst so gar kein Thema und 50 shades of grey habe ich damals zb komplett langweilig gefunden. Ich fand, dass das Thema hier sehr respektvoll porträtiert wurde und gerade für Unwissende - wie mich - ausreichend erklärt wird, was die zwei Protagonisten daran faszinierend finden. Ich war froh, dass dabei nicht erst Verträge geschlossen wurden und wir die Charaktere auch außerhalb kennenlernen durften. Ich finde es auch blöd, das Buch darauf zu reduzieren, ich wollte nur irgendwie direkt den Elefant im Raum ansprechen ☺️ in allererster Linie handelt es sich um eine College Sports Romance und es hat mir sehr viel Spaß gemacht, mehr über das Turmspringen zu erfahren. Das Thema STEM kommt auch wieder vor, wofür Ali ja bekannt ist und es macht sehr viel Spaß, dass Olive und Adam hier einen Auftritt haben. Ich weiß nicht, ob es mein liebstes Ali Hazelwood Buch ist, aber es ist auf jeden Fall ganz weit oben mit dabei.

Ein gutes Ali Hazelwood Buch! Die Entwicklung der Beziehung der Beiden war sehr natürlich und wirkte nicht gezwungen. Ich konnte auch beide sehr gut nachvollziehen. Beide waren gut geschriebene Charaktere. Auch Pen mochte ich anfänglich total gerne, aber gegen Ende wurde sie wirklich schrecklich und ich war schon lange nicht mehr so wütend auf einen Charakter. Der kurze Auftritt von Olive und Adam war mein Highlight, ich vermisse die Beiden so sehr :(

Leider konnte mich dieses Buch nicht sonderlich überzeugen. Ich hab so schwer reingefunden in die Geschichte. Alles fühlte sich unecht an und die Charaktere waren mir nicht sonderlich sympathisch. Es war alles irgendwie flach und das Hauptthema war in gefühlt jedem Kapitel, dass die Protagonisten auf kinky BDMS Zeug stehen. Ich mochte die spicy Szenen nicht besonders gerne - und davon gab es GANZ VIELE! Auch wenn ich kein Fan von dem Beschriebenen war, muss man anerkennen, dass alles mit Consens passierte. Ich habe trotz langen Startschwierigkeiten weitergelesen, weil ich mir dachte, der Hype muss doch von irgendwo kommen… Tatsächlich war das letzte Viertel des Buches gut. Ich wurde endlich warm mit den Charaktere und die Story wurde etwas spannender. Schlussendlich fand ich die beiden doch ein süßes Match. Trotzdem keine Empfehlung von mir, für mich hat es sich zu lange gezogen, bis es endlich gut/besser wurde. Musste mich zum Weiterlesen zwingen… Leider bislang das erste Buch von Ali Hazelwood, das mich nicht abholen und begeistern konnte.

This was my first Ali Hazelwood book and I loved it! It felt a bit like some young adult romance, all protagonists were in their early twenties and still figuring out their lives, the FMC Scarlett acted often like half a teen figuring out herself. I was often frustrated with her and her dump decisions, all the things she wanted to say and do but never said or did; while the MMC Lukas was so caring she was just running away. I think that’s the reason why it felt so much like a YA book. She’s still learning how to be around people and have some confidence & self-esteem. Furthermore there was her best friend Pen, who was super annoying and was the reason for the 3rd act drama wich annoyed the hell outa me! What I liked most about this book was the spice and not just because it was well written; I loved how they talked about their kinks, their safe word, their wants, needs & boundaries (but I have to say, I’m still mad that we never got to see the kink-list they wrote, why not?!?!). I’ve read a lot of reviews saying, this wasn’t BDSM, but I have to disagree. In my humble opinion this was a good but soft representation of BDSM. Lukas was a very kind and caring soft dom and I knoooow, they talked a lot more about kink than acting on it, but they’re both very young and unexperienced so I found this very realistic. Yes, I also think it would’ve been nice if Lukas at least would’ve tied her up a little, but still. I definitely felt the dom-sub vibe between the MCs! I think this could be a good book for everyone who’s curious about some dom-sub relationships - here you go! There’s no hard kink involved. For my taste the spicy chapters could’ve been a bit longer and sometimes the story felt a bit rushed forward (and a little less Pen would’ve been nice too) but all in all I enjoyed reading it! ** also I want to add, I’ve read some comments about Scarlett crying too much and I politely disagree. I’m a crybaby myself and I loved that she cried a lot and even during sex, I felt understood haha

Wie von jeden Ali Hazelwood Buch, bin ich einfach nur wieder begeistert wie steamy aber auch süß ein Buch sein kann. Während ich von Sekunde Eins in Lukas verliebt war und jedesmal Schmetterlinge im Bauch bekommen habe, wenn dieser gesprochen hat, hat mich Pen auf die Palme gebracht. Lange nicht mehr ging mir ein Charakter so sehr auf den Senkel, als wie es Pen. Ich konnte es kaum erwarten, bis sie nichts mehr zu melden hatte.

Ich war von der ersten Zeile des Buches in seinen Bann gezogen,( was auch zu 100% berechtigt war), weil es einerseits ein so unfassbar guten Schreibstil beinhaltet hat, den man in einem Flow lesen kann und anderseits war die Geschichte einfach Mega 🥰 Ich kann es wirklich nur jedem ans Herz legen, dieses Buch zu lesen.
