Loved it to finally read this book, after having seen the movie twice! It being a screenplay is still new to me, as Cursed Child was the only other book in this format. But it actually helped me understand the story even better than I already did.
Loved the story and the film. Reading it in a screenplay format is just not for me.
There's not much to say. Of course I loved it. Just look at him: I've seen the movie first, so it was easy to visualize/remember while I was reading. Had it been the other way around, this would have been a 4-stars rating.
Loved the movie, loved the screenplay. what else can I say? honestly if you haven't read that book yet then what are you doing go ahead read it!
This was so much more fun than I thought it would be! No regrets! And thank you, Oxfam, for selling it for three quid, ha!
It's always nice to dive back into the Wizarding World! Newt is a lovely character and I can't wait to find out more about him in the sequel.
This screenplay made me appreciate the movie more! It gave me more time for recognizing and aknowledge details that got lost on screen or I missed. A nice addition to the movie, but same as with Cursed Child, not a standalone screenplay! (Also I was as sick reading this as when I watched the movie, so joke's on me).
I really liked the story - already did in the movie. And the book was illustrated so beautifully. How could I give less than 4 stars?
My plan actually was it to read the actual book of Fantastic Beasts and where to find them first, then watch the movie and then read the original screenplay. Everything went a little differently though. It seems like it’s impossible nowadays to get your hands on an edition of Fantastic Beasts and where to find them, the actual book I mean, unless you are willing to pay a fortune. I’m not one of the lucky ones who own the box set with the three gorgeous books from the Hogwarts Library though. I had the opportunity to buy them like maybe one and a half year ago but I didn’t. Every time I saw the boxed set somewhere I decided to buy it some other time. Now I wish I’d have bought it back then when I had the chance to. I already pre ordered two of the new editions which are coming out some time this year and I couldn’t be more excited. I watched the movie first, loved it, and then read the original screenplay which I also loved. Thank goodness I received this pretty book as a review copy from the German publisher. I’m so happy I have this now. It looks so gorgeous on my bookshelf. Anyone who has read the Harry Potter series knows that Harry has a textbook called “Fantastic Beasts and where to find them” by Newt Scamander which he needs for his classes. One might think that these two very different worlds have little to do with each other what is actually wrong. Fantastic Beasts and where to find them tells the story of Newt Scamander. We accompany him on his journey and witness how he actually ever came to write the textbook called Fantastic Beasts and where to find them, which later became an important textbook students use in their classes in Hogwarts. I’m a fan of these kinds of stories I have to admit; stories which seem like they don’t have anything to do with each other but are somewhat intertwined with each other. This story isn’t set in beautiful England but in stunning New York City. While searching for magical creatures Newt gets involved in dangerous situations. The magical world he has to face in America is so much different from the one he knows. For example the non-mages aren’t called Muggles but “No-Maj’s”. While those No-Majs live their lives happily, the wizards and witches live in the underground and try to keep their existence hidden from the non-mages. Also a lot of unexplainable things keep happening in the city and on top of that one of the most dangerous dark magicians of all time, Gellert Grindelwald, is on the loose. As we all now this is not an actual book, it’s only a script. It basically only consists of dialogues and scene descriptions. It took me a couple of pages to really get into the story though. But after a couple of pages I really started to enjoy the book a lot. Fantastic Beats and where to find them introduces us to a completely new era of the magical world. The story is set in the 1920s and has its own charm. The setting is just great. I’m a huge fan of New York, New York is my happy place so of course I had a lot of fun following Newt around in this amazing city. At first it seems like the book only tells Newts story but the further you get in the story it the more it becomes clear that with this story the foundations were laid for a huge new and complex magical world which – of course – has its parallels to Harry Potter but is nonetheless something totally new. Although this is only a screenplay and not an actual story the characters are just great. All characters are very interesting, very well written and elaborated and so sweet. I fell in love with Newt right away, I mean who doesn’t love him? But I also loved Jacob and Queenie so much. Frankly I didn’t like Tina right away I have to admit, but the more I read the more I liked her, even adored her in the end. Also all the fantastic beasts are so unique and special I absolutely adored them, especially little Niffler, who is such a cutie pie. I wouldn’t mind having him as a pet though even though he would probably steal all my jewelry haha. Even though I loved all characters and the story everything seemed a little “dead”. I really wish it would have been much more emotional. I know it’s only a screen play and it’s supposed to only be dialogues and scene descriptions and such but I did miss the whole “character development” part. Also I think there was supposed to be a few romantic moments between Newt and Tina but it didn’t feel romantic at all. And that just made me realize that I definitely prefer “real books” over such screenplays. The gorgeous illustration in the book made the whole reading experience complete. It did seem a little overloaded at first I have to admit; there were so many illustrations in the book I got a little confused at the beginning to be honest, however, the drawings in this book are simply beautiful and an absolute pleasure for the eye. They fit the story perfectly and are so wonderful to look at. Sometimes I just had to stop and stare for a couple of minutes because the illustrations are just so gorgeous. All in all it was a very cute and nice and magical read and definitely a must have for every Harry Potter fan out there. You have to be aware though that this isn’t a novel, it’s only a script. But nonetheless was it entertaining, exciting, magical, interesting and so much fun to read. I had a lot of fun reading this story plus this book is one of the most gorgeous books I own, just look at the amazing book cover. It is absolutely stunning and so are all the illustrations. I’m really looking forward for the upcoming movies and hopefully matching books. I’m a huge Newt-fan and I can’t wait to read more about his exciting and fun adventures.
Wer Newt nicht liebt, macht was falsch.

Explorer and Magizoologist Newt Scamander has just completed a round-the-globe trip in search of the most rare and unusual magical creatures. Arriving in New York, he intends his stay to be just a brief stopover. However, when Newt’s case is misplaced and some of his fantastic beasts escape into the city, it spells trouble for everyone. Niffler, Bowtruckle, Mooncalf, Murtlap, Occamy, Thunderbird, Graphorn, Fwooper, Doxy, Glow Bug, Grindylow, Diricawl, Erumpent, Demiguise. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Newt ❤️ Like have is only in smaller ☺️❤️
