If you believe it or not, I read the hunger games for the first time and honestly I am not sure where the story will go from here on. I really loved the first part of the story, until Katniss and Peeta worked together. I think it’s mainly because this is a ya book, and I’m older now, but still I enjoyed reading it.

Ich hab nun auch endlich mit der Reihe angefangen. Das war das erste Mal, dass ich ein Buch gelesen habe, bei dem die Verfilmung sehr sehr nah am Buch war. Da ich den Film aber schon mehrere Male gesehen habe, fand ich die Geschichte nicht allzu interessant. ABER…. nun weiß ich nicht, was nach Band 1 passiert und bin sehr sehr neugierig darauf 🤭

I can’t believe it’s taken me this long to start this series. I barely put the book down! Reading this book flew by. The way Suzanne Collins writes is very descriptive and makes you want to keep reading. This book keeps you in suspense for most of the book. I especially love the bravery, sacrifice, love, friendship, and defiance that are so relevant in this book. Can’t wait to start reading Catching Fire.

Loved it from start to finish. I‘ve always been a fan of the movies and finally got around to reading the Books too. What I find interesting, is how there are scenes from the book that are not included in the movie, but also scenes in the movie that are not included in the book. I find the movie to not only be an adaption of the book, but also an extension to the story and the world of Panem. Since the book is only out of Katniss‘ perspecitve , we don’t get all those scenes of the gamemakers and their thought processes that we get in the Movie. I find that to be especially well made in terms of adaptating. (Spoilers!!) What I also preferred in the movie was the scene of Cato‘s death. In the movie we get that sad scene of him before Katniss shoots him, where we get to see how he is also really just a child in the games, whereas in the book he almost seems to be enjoyibg her and Peeta‘s agony before those hours of pain for him. Sure, the reader feels bad for him for having to endure that, but he is still somewhat seem as a villain in the story. Overall, I really enjoyed this book and devoured it in a few days, even though im a slow reader. It‘s one of those books you can‘t wait to read again some day.

Ich habe das Buch mal wieder gelesen. Diesmal war der reread auf Englisch. Die Reihe ist nach wie vor einer meiner Lieblingsreihen. Das was ich an dem Buch bzw. den Büchern am meisten mag, ist, dass die Protagonisten so authentisch sind. Und man im Verlauf der Entwicklung wahrnimmt, wie kaputt sie langsam werden. Ein must read für jeden Dystopie-Fan.

Als großer Fan der Filme habe ich mir irgendwann mal die Bücher vorgeknöpft und sie haben meine Liebe für diese Geschichte nur bestärkt. Suzanne Collins schreibt eine so tief beklemmende Geschichte, die irgendwie doch zu nah an der Wirklichkeit zu sein scheint. Mich hat es auf jeden Fall viel zum Nachdenken gebracht. Die Charaktere haben Tiefe, die Story Spannung auch wenn man im Grunde die Story schon kennt u d sie gehen noch tiefer ins Detail wie sehr die Spiele doch zerstören. Ich kann das Buch jedem empfehlen.

Ich habe das Buch zum zweiten Mal gelesen. Es war aber schon so lange her, dass ich auch dieses mal binnen weniger Minuten süchtig geworden bin. Die Tribute von Panem Bücher sind für mich persönlich ein kleines Meisterwerk. Emotional, spannend, grauenhaft, brutal und durchaus auch frustrierend. Diese Bücher zählen für mich zu den wichtigsten Büchern im Bereich der Politischen Ungerechtigkeit und den damit einhergehenden Widerständen. Denn wie unwahrscheinlich ist dieses Szenario? So absurd ist diese Idee doch gar nicht. Wenn man ehrlich ist, ist es nicht abwegig das unsere Gesellschaft eines Tages etwas so abartiges macht. Das macht für mich die Bücher zur Pflichtlektüre. Es gibt nichts was ich an dem Buch zu bemängeln habe. Ganz klar immer noch einer meiner Lieblingsreihen und das wird auch für immer so bleiben. Ganz Tief in meinem Herzen verankert ob auf Deutsch oder Englisch 🫶🏻❤️

The Hunger Games ist ein ganz besonderes Buch, das mich von der ersten bis zur letzten Seite begeistert hat. Ich habe es auf Englisch gelesen und war überrascht, wie schnell und flüssig sich die Geschichte lesen lässt – man fliegt förmlich durch die Seiten. Die Handlung ist spannend, mitreißend und unglaublich bildhaft erzählt. Suzanne Collins schafft es alles im Buch lebendig und greifbar zu machen. Besonders beeindruckt hat mich die Hauptfigur Katniss Everdeen. Sie ist eine starke, kluge und mutige Protagonistin, mit der man sich gut identifizieren kann. Ihre Fähigkeiten, ihr Mut und ihre Hingabe für ihre Familie machen sie zu einer einzigartigen Heldin. Das Buch lebt aber nicht nur von der Spannung, sondern auch von den emotionalen Momenten. Der Charakter Rue, ein kleines, liebenswertes Mädchen, hat mich besonders berührt. Ihre Geschichte hat dem Buch noch mehr Tiefe verliehen. Toll fand ich auch, dass man im Laufe der Geschichte immer wieder Einblicke in Katniss’ Vergangenheit und ihre Familie bekommt. Diese Rückblicke haben mir geholfen, sie noch besser zu verstehen und mit ihr mitzufühlen. Das Ende ist unglaublich gut gelungen – spannend und offen genug, dass man sofort weiterlesen möchte. Zum Glück habe ich den nächsten Band schon bereitliegen! Ich bin sehr gespannt, wie es mit Katniss, Peeta, Gale und Prim weitergeht. Ich kann The Hunger Games zu 100 % weiterempfehlen und bin richtig froh, dass ich dieses Buch gelesen habe. Es ist einzigartig und bleibt definitiv im Kopf.

First of all I have to say that I kind of missed the time when everybody was all over the book and the story of the hunger games. Only last year I read this book due to my English teacher who was giving us free English books to read over summer vacation and this was like the only book I knew so I took this obviously and then slowly started reading it. I think without my teacher I wouldn’t even have started reading this book because honestly I felt too old already but when I read the book I noticed that this was not the case. I think the fact that this book is written for children or teens made it easier for me to comprehend the story as I’m not a native English speaker and I wrote this book in English and I often have struggles understanding some minor things which then have me doubting the whole plot or at least the context of a certain detail of the story and I have to say that this was not the case for the hunger games. When I started reading it mean I knew certain details because of retellings, I also saw the trailer for the films, Ive never watched the films before, but it’s still developed differently from what I’ve expected. The beginning of the book kind of resembled the beginning of the first book off the selection series which I loved so I love this part of the book as well and also I liked the actual hunger games themselves as they were described so detailed and also you could really feel the fear and the struggles of Katniss and also I like how the romance between Peeta and Katniss slowly developed throughout the games and how the book ended in the end which I won’t spoil now;)) i’m definitely looking forward to read the other books too, not knowing what they will be about then ha ha

I was always reluctant to read this book; never cared for it. When I finally did, I read it for hours at a time and am glad I did. It was gripping and thrilling, sometimes honestly a bit too disgusting with the descriptions but that's the reality of the characters' lives. Already looking forward to reading tbe second book!

After I had watched the movies of the Hunger Games (and fell absolutely in love with them😍) I actually expected some more of the book.😔 Nevertheless I can't complain much about the book because it only took little time to read and I often(yeah, maybe not always, but that's ok🙃) wanted to read further eventhough I basically already knew what was coming.😄 One of the only points I didn't rate it 5/5 was probably the fact that it didn't make me feel many emotions. In my opinion I would have preferred a little more romance and i also sometimes didnt even feel anything when somebody in the book died😥.(NO THAT'S NOT A SPOILER!!😅PEOPLE REALLY DIE 100% IN THIS BOOK😐) Maybe I also didn't enjoy the book as much as other ones because I was forced to read it as schoolhomework.😑 But apart from these aspects it was really thrilling diving into the world of the Hunger Games🤩😊 and I definitely recommend the movies but i can also imagine it would be quite nice reading the books before.

Warum habe ich dieses Buch nicht schon früher gelesen?! Ich bin ein absoluter Fan der Filme und wollte deswegen unbedingt auch die Bücher lesen: Das Buch war so viel besser als der Film!! Ich liebe die Geschichte und das ganze dystophische Setting einfach. Ein riesiger Pluspunkt sind die vielen kleinen Hintergrundinfos, die in den Filmen nie vorkommen – und dieses Buch hat ganz viele davon!! Der Film ist sehr nah am Buch, sodass ich oft schon wusste, was als Nächstes passiert oder gesagt wird – und trotzdem hat es mir richtig gut gefallen. Das hat natürlich ein bisschen Spannung genommen, und deswegen sind es keine vollen fünf Sterne geworden – obwohl es sie eigentlich verdient hätte. Ich fand das Buch total gut und freue mich schon darauf, den nächsten Band zu lesen!!

I read this years ago & I remember liking it a lot. Honestly I just decided to read it again because of the release of Sunrise on the Reaping & all the hype around it. But I really enjoyed listening to the audiobook. The story is great & the end is so sad. I know that I stopped reading somewhere in the second book & I really have no idea what happened after book one. But at this point, I’m glad I gave the series a second chance & now I will just see how it goes with the second book.

Bewertung: 5/5 Sterne Die Tribute von Panem war eines der ersten Bücher, das ich gelesen habe, nachdem ich bereits die Filme kannte – und ich war wirklich überrascht, wie nah die Verfilmungen an der Vorlage geblieben sind. Trotzdem bieten die Bücher eine Tiefe, die in den Filmen nur angedeutet wird. Vor allem das Worldbuilding ist im Roman deutlich vielschichtiger, und auch die Brutalität der Dystopie wird unverblümter dargestellt. Die inneren Monologe von Katniss, die politische Dimension der Geschichte und das bedrückende Gefühl von Überwachung und Rebellion kommen im Buch viel stärker zur Geltung. In Zeiten, in denen autoritäre Systeme und soziale Ungleichheit wieder verstärkt diskutiert werden, wirkt die Geschichte aktueller denn je. Genau deshalb habe ich das Lesen umso mehr geschätzt – es ist nicht nur spannend, sondern regt auch zum Nachdenken an. Ein eindrucksvolles Buch, das lange nachhallt.

Sehr angenehm zu lesen, würde es auch empfehlen für Leute die noch nicht so lange/ gut englisch sprechen. Die Story war sehr schön, tausend mal besser dargestellt als in den Filmen. Sehr emotional, habe auch ein paarmal geheult muss ich gestehen. Ich konnte Katniss sehr gut verstehen und ihre inneren Konflikte und ihr Handeln nachvollziehen. Die Games ansich waren natürlich sehr brutal aber auch spannend, allerdings sehr detailliert beschrieben also für Leute die da empfindlich sind vielleicht eher nichts. Die Geschichte mit Rue hat mich sehr berührt, tat mir am Ende so leid für die kleine. Alles in allem ein sehr schönes Buch, flüssig zu lesen, dicke fette Empfehlung meinerseits 🫶🏼✨

I really liked reading this it still surprised me sometimes even though I watched the movies first, but with the sun rise on the reaping release and me loving this franchise for years I thought it's finally time to pick up the books and so fat I'm not totally inlove but I'm not disappointed either.

It's been years since I've read this trilogy. But I just finished reading Haymitch's story, and I wanted to see Mags again. Beetee. Wiress. I couldn't just randomly read Catching Fire, so why not just read all three books again? And I have to admit, after rereading it, I think Sunrise on the Reaping really elevates the original trilogy. It adds so much depth to Haymitch's character, and the parallels between Katniss and Haymitch are incredibly. I'm glad I'm reading this after the prequel, because I don't think I would have appreciated it as much as I do now. I've rated this book 4 stars after I've read it for the first time, and my opinion hasn't changed. It's not a perfect book - I think the writing is rather weak - but it gets the stone rolling. Can't wait to read Catching Fire. I still don't really like Katniss or Peeta - for me, the side characters always carried the story - but who gives a fuck? A revolution can't be carried by two people alone.

Ich bin "spät dran". Während viele diese Bücher direkt zu den Erscheinungsterminen gelesen haben, hatte ich nie wirklich Interesse. Auch die Filme haben mich nicht angesprochen. Doch jetzt, Jahre später, wo weitere Bücher veröffentlicht werden, möchte ich sehr gerne mitsprechen können. Ich habe FOMO. Anfangs war ich unschlüssig. Was wenn es mir nicht gefällt? Aber ich stellte schnell fest, das es spannend war und ich nicht aufhören wollte, zu lesen. Auch wenn dieses Buch für mich kein 5 Sterne Buch war, mochte ich es gerne und habe die folge Bände bereits parat.

Gerade will ich die Trilogie nochmal lesen und dann den 4&5 Teil kennenlernen. Daher habe ich mich zum wiederholten Male in die Welt von Panem begeben und wie immer war es ein Fest. Der Schreibstil macht es einem leicht das Buch zu verschlingen und es ist einfach dauerhaft spannend. Die distopische Welt ist tatsächlich heute noch realistischer als sie es mir damals beim ersten Lesen erschien und zeigt einfach wie aktuell Bücher selbst nach "langer" Zeit sein können. Freue mich schon weiter zu lesen.

Still the best YA dystopian book series out there. Rereading The Hunger Games was just as thrilling as the first time—if not more! Suzanne Collins’ world-building, the heart-stopping tension, and Katniss’s fierce resilience still had me hooked from start to finish. Even knowing what happens, I found myself completely immersed in the strategy, the stakes, and the emotions. This book remains an absolute masterpiece and a must-read for dystopian lovers. Some stories never lose their magic, and this is definitely one of them!!

Was soll ich zu den Hunger Games schreiben? Wer kennt sie nicht? Nun, zumindest mein Sohn kannte nur den Titel und wollte wissen, um was es da eigentlich geht. Nach einer kurzen Zusammenfassung haben wir in das Hörbuch reingehört und er war sofort gefesselt. Ich wollte eigentlich auch schon lange einen Reread starten, hatte nur Angst, dass es mich wieder so zerstören könnte wie beim ersten Mal. Aber nun war der Zeitpunkt gekommen. Die Geschichte, wie Katniss und Peetah bei den Spielen um ihr Überleben kämpfen, hat mich auch beim zweiten Mal voll gepackt. Am spannendsten fand ich die Strategien, die beide einsetzen, um die Gunst des Publikums zu erringen und schließlich sogar eine Beugung der Regeln zu erzwingen. Mein Sohn war ebenso begeistert und hatte das Hörbuch noch schneller durch als ich das Buch.

I am so happy that I finally read this book and I really want to continue the series even if its only for the „love story“. I enjoyed the actual Hunger Games but I enjoyed the love story between Peeta and Katniss even more. So its safe to say that her stupidity towards her feelings regarding Peeta really annoyed me haha also I feel so bad for himmmm. In addition to that was the Rue friendship necessary? I sobbedddd 😭

Also obwohl ich die Filme vor den Büchern kannte, hat mir das Lesen richtig Spaß gemacht. Finde das Buch besser als den Film und wünschte ich hätte es vorher gekannt. Mega spannend, gesellschaftskritisch und auch an manchen Stellen sehr emotional. Ich freue mich schon sehr auf die nächsten Teile, auch wenn ich den Plot schon kenne. Fieber trotzdem fleißig mit!

2023, 4th read: Natürlich habe ich es wieder geliebt. Vor elf Jahren hat mich diese Reihe wieder zum Lesen gebracht und damit eine Kettenreaktion in meinem Leben ausgelöst: Ich habe mit Booktube angefangen, dadurch Freundschaften fürs Leben gewonnen und selbst angefangen, Bücher zu schreiben. Das alles habe ich Panem zu verdanken. Außerdem bin ich immer noch krankhaft in Peeta verliebt, sue me. 2019, 3rd read: Ich habe einfach 300 Seiten am Stück gelesen, obwohl ich die Geschichte schon so gut kenne. Ich LIEBE diese ganze Idee, die Charaktere und die Spannung. Einfach großartig. 2017, 2nd read: Ich bin diesem Buch immer noch so unendlich dankbar dafür, dass es mich vor 5 Jahren wieder zum Lesen gebracht hat. Für mich ist Panem immer noch die beste Dystopie. Mit ABSTAND. Ich liebe diese Charaktere so sehr, die auch so viele Jahre später immer noch mein Leben irgendwie beeinflussen. Ich kann es kaum erwarten, die nächsten Teile nochmal zu lesen und die Filme zu schauen. Grooooße Liebe. #TeamPeeta

Es ist immer etwas Besonderes wenn man ein Buch beendet. Dieses Gefühl, welches in einem aufkommt, kann oft nicht gedeutet werden. Ist es Freude? Nicht immer. Traurig? Ja, das kommt vor. Sehnsüchtig? Oh, ja. Besonders bei diesem ersten Panem Teil siegt die Neugier und die Freude. Die Geschichte ist noch nicht beendet. Man "trifft" die Charaktere bald wieder. In einem neuen Abenteuer. Nachdem ich den Film sah musste ich das Buch lesen. Und ich wurde nicht enttäuscht. Meine Erwartungen wurden übertroffen und - obwohl ich die Story kannte - fieberte ich mit. Dazu lud auch der Schreibstil ein. Natürlich konnte ich auch nicht verhindern, dass ich hier und da eine Träne vergoss. Die Ich- Form ist klasse.

10/10 Erster Reread seit meiner Kindheit/Jugend und erstes Mal auf Englisch. Habe die Filme sooft gesehen, dass ich vieles auswendig kenne. Die Entwicklung der Verbindung zwischen Katness und Peeta wird im Buch aber nochmal um einiges besser dargestellt, was mich positiv überrascht hat - das wusste ich nicht mehr. Einfach nach wie vor ein Meisterwerk ❤️
