It took me three attempts to get into this book, which is a shame, because I LOVED the first part. I think I was a bit disappointed how Lou’s story had gone on after Will’s death. But then again, I guess that’s great writing :) However - I didn’t quite get the whole Lily character at first. She was a bit too much for me (which probably is also intentional) and the book takes a while to get going. Once stuff happens it all happens at once and unfortunately, as catching as it is, it’s all a bit cliché, along with the ending. Okay read, not quite what I’d have expected for Lou’s story but so be it.

The first few chapters were really slow and for a while regretted picking this up, since [b:Me Before You|15507958|Me Before You (Me Before You, #1)|Jojo Moyes|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1357108762s/15507958.jpg|17763198] was amazing. I continued reading though, hoping Lou would eventually get through her grief and grow, which she had done tremendously in the prior book. In my opinion it took forever for her to get there though. The new character was interesting, although at first I was not impressed by the idea. Ultimately, this book missed a lot of the lightness of the first, which was one of the things I had liked so much about it (I see that it would have been odd had it been the same, given that she had so recently suffered a loss, but still).

I never read the first book, but I saw the film. And I wondered how Lou was so adventurous and free after losing Will. But then I borrowed this book from the public library and read how some days you feel like you have conquered grief and the loss. But then depression and anger and not knowing how to move on kicks in. It is a nice story, of finding friends in unexpected places. Of falling in love. Of unknowns that need to be known in order to mkve forward. But always that, moving forward.
