Einfach durch und durch ein Wohlfühl Gefühl. Ich hätte noch 300 Seiten von Dex und Mosscap gelesen und es nicht bereut. Ich bin sehr gespannt auf den nächsten Teil

Such a feelgood cozy book, set in a ecoconcious scifi setting. I would categorize this as solarpunk ☀️🌿 The story of the monk and the robot shows two different "species" meeting each other and bonding over philosophical questions. While they both learn about each others existance and living-traditions, they form a cute bond. 💚 Since i read this in a rush to be able to talk about it in bookclub, i think i was not able to experience the whole thing as one should. If you want to read this and enjoy it - go get a cup of tea and loads of time and let the story steep in your soul. 🍵 Apart from early struggles to get in, after page 20 it's smooth sailing and i recommend this book to anyone who wants to be transported to another world! 4.5/5 🌟

So ein wholesome read. Ich hatte teils Tränen in den Augen, weil mich das Buch an den ein oder anderen Moment aus meinem bisherigen Leben erinnert hat. Mein zweites Buch von Chambers - noch besser als das Erste, das ich gelesen habe. Wir befinden uns auf Panga. Nachdem die Menschheit Roboter erschuf, die mit der Zeit ein Selbstbewusstsein entwickelten, und sich von der Menschheit abschotten wollten, teilte sie die Welt in zwei Hälften. Die eine Hälfte für die Menschen. Die andere für die Natur, um den Planeten zu retten. Dorthin haben sich auch die Roboter begeben. Das war vor hunderten von Jahren. Wir begleiten Dex, die einem Mönchsorden angehören und seit langen in der grossen Stadt leben. Sie werden dem eines Tages überdrüssig und ändern ihre Ausrichtung, um mit einem "riksha -ähnlichen" Gefährt von Dorf zu Dorf zu ziehen und den Leuten mit einer Tasse Tee etwas Entspannung zu verschaffen. Nach mehreren Jahren ist ihnen aber auch das nicht genug, und sie entscheiden sich, die befestigten Strassen zu verlassen und die "Wildniss" zu befahren. Hier treffen sie bald auf einen Roboter, der die Aufgabe hat den Kontakt zu den Menschen wiederherzustellen. Die Interaktion zwischen den beiden gestaltet sich zunächst aufgrund "kultureller" Differenzen schwierig. Doch sie beschliessen gemeinsam weiterzuziehen und einen vergessenen Ort aufzusuchen. Eine Freundschaft entwickelt sich langsam zwischen den beiden. Chambers beschreibt hier eine sehr hoffnungsvolle Zukunft und behandelt in den Interaktionen und Gesprächen zwischen Dex und dem Roboter Themen, die jeden Menschen beschäftigen: Wo gehören wir hin? Was wollen wir tun? Eine sehr berührende Geschichte in einer utopisch anmutenden Welt. Werde die Fortsetzung gleich lesen!:)

„You keep asking why your work is not enough, and I don't know how to answer that, because it is enough to exist in the world and marvel at it. You don't need to justify that, or earn it. You are allowed to just live.“ Eine Ode daran, dass es in Ordnung ist, einfach zu sein und zu leben, ohne immer etwas „leisten“ zu müssen. Ein schöner Weckruf, sich selbst genug zu sein.

This was the perfect Book for the End of 2021. 2021 was a bit of a lot of a turbulent, weird, fast, slow, tight, loud, hectic and most of all unexpected year for the most of us. For me it was a year of change. Reading this book now at the end of this year felt like a warm tea you didn't realize you needed or craved for until you took the first sip.

Auch wenn man denkt, dass man alles hat, kann man sich fühlen, als wenn etwas fehlt. Das Buch ist gut geschrieben war, ich mochte Dex und Mosscap sehr und es gibt Themen, zu denen schöne Gedanken geschrieben waren. Dabei meine ich vor allem das Verhältnis von den Menschen zu den Robotern und von den Menschen zur Natur.

What a cozy adventure that strikes the perfect balance between thoughtfulness and relaxation. I just wish it was 2 books in one instead of a thin 150pager. Usually I am not the one to engage actively in LGBTQ content and it threw me off at the very start with the chosen pronouns for the protagonist. I adapted and enjoyed it regardless to the unusual style of writing. I still can't shake the feeling that addressing Dex as "they" when there are 2 individuals present and only one does something is very confusing. 5/5 I've ordered the second book half way through.

Was für ein absolut schönes, perfektes kleines Buch. Das Konzept ist so interessant! Eine Zivilisation, in der Roboter ein Bewusstsein erlangt, sich von den Menschen getrennt haben und nun in der Wildness leben. Und Menschen, die ihre komplette Lebensweise umgekrempelt haben. Es ist so spannend und irgendwie herzerwärmend, zu sehen, wie Dex und Mosscap voneinander lernen. Was macht Roboter aus und wie leben sie? Was macht Menschen aus, was wollen Menschen? Und vorallem, was ist ihr Sinn im Leben, auf der Welt? Eine Findungsreise zwischen Roboter und Mensch. Sehr zu empfehlen! Ich freue mich den zweiten Teil zu lesen. Definitiv ein weiteres Jahreshighlight für mich.

I was honestly very close to dnfing this. The writing felt almost.. pretentious, i was having a really hard time with it. But once Mosscap joined Dex in their travel in the 3rd Chapter I started liking it a lot more. The dialogues were good for the flow of the book and Mosscap was just super cute. Definitely not reading the next book in the series but all in all happy I didn't dnf.

I loved this book so much! It is cozy, inspiring and just perfect to enjoy with a cup of tea. I also really enjoyed the setting, it felt kinda melancholic but in a good way (maybe I am just saying that because I like these kinds of settings that have that kind of nostalgic and melancholic feel but if that is also your cup of tea then you know ^^) If you like nature and forest settings you will also feel very much at home here. The Story is incredibly optimistic. As someone who has struggled with some of the same things mentioned in the book, it was a delight to read, to find out how Dex was going to deal with them. I also enjoyed these almost philosophical reflections on human nature, purpose, motivation, kindness… there is a lot in here that will make you think and reflect on yourself and people around you. I‘m not gonna lie, while I smiled through almost all dialogues between Dex and Mosscap, I teared up a bit on the last page and I immediately ordered the second book. All in all this book might become my ultimate comfort read!

This is very cozy and optimistic for a book that is very much about feeling down. It's a comfortable reflection on human nature, purpose, motivation and kindness. I wished it was longer just to get into the world and the ideas more, but I guess it's not really the point. It's an experience of spending time and empathizing. Also, if you like nature and forest settings, you will feel very much at home here.
