A tender love story with minor flaws and an ending that caught me off guard.
I did enjoy the rather calm vibe of this book, as well as the neurodivergent representation through the eyes of Annika, who told her parts of the story with disarming honesty. The connection between her and Jonathan felt genuine and sweet, I love how he didn’t judge her for her behavior and reactions to most situations. However, there were passages in the book were he made Annika out to be some sort of „Manic pixie dream girl“ which just rubbed me the wrong way, especially when he was talking about her looks and body as well as her unique personality as something he sort of adorns himself with. The ending took me entirely off guard and made my heart hurt in ways most millennials can probably relate to.
