Das war wohl leider nichts... ⛸️

Leider keine Leseempfehlung :(

!! SPOILERS !! When I say I want banter, THIS is what I mean. They didn’t just slightly shit talk each other. No, they basically bullied each other. But it was awesome. I love figure skating in books. It’s always super interesting, even though I absolutely can’t imagine what all the spins and throws and figures look like. But it has this element that I just love to read about. Jasmine was a very interesting character, very relatable. Sometimes a bit too relatable, because at some points she hit home a b it too much for me. But I think that’s a strength of the author to make the readers see themselves in the character. Jasmine was very human, not one of those ‘I have some small problems but apart from that my life is awesome and easy’ characters. She had struggles and she overcame them. It’s inspiring. Ivan was also interesting. He’s not the typical love interest. I still don’t get where his nickname ‘Vanya’ comes from, but anyway. He was kinda brutal and mean at first, but then so sweet and caring. It was obvious that he liked her and I loved that. The ending was cute. I liked the perspective of them a few (ten?) years later, happily married with children and many won championships and medals. It was adorable. I was so happy for them that they ended up together. This book made me feel a lot. When Jasmine and Ivan had that ‘fight’ over the pictures and when she sprained her ankle, I was seriously afraid of what would happen. When she confronted her dad, I was sad but also kinda proud of her. She’s a character made out of letters and my imagination, so that’s kind of weird, but I’ll ignore that. I felt with her, I was happy when she was happy with Ivan and sad when she was sad. I like it when a book makes me feel. At some points, the plot felt a bit rushed. I know that the book is over 500 pages, so already fairly long. But sometimes, I would’ve liked a bit more of what happened in those time skips. Maybe it wasn’t important, but if you fast forward some months, it feels like the story is a bit lost, like I just jumped over it. But it wasn’t all that bad and it’s the only thing I can criticise about this book. If you like figure skating romance, rivals to lovers, bullying as a love language, happy endings and great chemistry, then you’re in the right place.

Omg Green Flag Alarm !!! 💚 Das Ende war so emotional 😭 so wunderschön 😩🥰 Sehr empfehlenswert wer auf Slow Burn Haters to friends to lovers steht 😁 halber Stern Abzug weil die Kapitel sich teilweise sehr gezogen haben (30-50 Seiten !?) hat mich manchmal bisschen demotiviert. 🙈 aber dennoch klare Leseempfehlung 😋

More like 3,5 -I liked this level of slowburn, because they feel more like real people instead of characters -The way the sport is such a big part in these people lifes and they dont have that much going on outside did really fit in here. Sports is time demanding and your feel it instead of some othe3r romances where the characters literally do nothing not even really their job. -I had a lot of fun reading it BUT there are a few thing that didnt really work for me and the longer I think about it the more it bothers me a bit: -the snarky comments where fun but the one against the body and the nickname Meatball werent it. -A bit much repetition in the dialoge at times -The stalker plotline just got dropped, in general except that one interview the outside world didnt interact a lot with them, figure skating has a lot of public attention and even fanbases attached to it -The way the partner switch happend, I think the reasons for them both needning a parter was set up in a way that the reveals seemed anticlimactic in a way? Like I thought the way the thing with Paul was talked about I thought he did something borderline illegal like harassment or blackmail and his partner also, my theory was she was pregnant or he had a secret that made all partner leave or he actually wasnt easy to work with -His sister had what reason being that huge of a talking point but not reallly being there? -the epiloge, if they also had such long carrers after they get together why make them 26&29 in the novel and not a little bit younger to fit better with that, not saying they were too old but its really not that commen, like just look at past winner for especially the olympics.

Absolutes Lieblingsbuch!

4 stars (Re-Read, 17.12.20) What a fun read! Plus a nice coincidence that the winter olympics came right up for me after reading this and it made me kind of giddy to follow figure skating. It was a slowburning romance for sure and I know that must be such a fine line to write. At times it felt like they even could have just been really, really good friends. That's why it wasn't a proper 5 star read for me. I still like how Mariana writes strong female protagonists who have something going for them or have ambitions and dreams (even when they're not close to fulfilling them). Nothing more maddening than a female lead being empty until HE comes along.

After sleeping on it one night I had to change the rating. I changed it from a 4 to a 5. I just can't get the book out of my head. I really enjoyed the story between Jasmine and Ivan. Although there was some content that annoyed me. Besides the fact that the ending feels rushed and that we really don't get the answer why they dislike so much. No hold on, we get it but by the end Ivan tolds Jasmine that he always wanted skate with her and he was disappointed that she did not ask. In this moment I thought to my self: eh, hello? First of all, why didn't YOU ask? And after those loveless conversations and hatred banters? So there are some eyerolls moment's which I noticed and could be better written and explained. Especially when Jas gets sick and he is beginning to call her baby? The first kiss? Why is there no inner monologue from Jasmine? Or conversations at all? So this is suddenly alright? Duh. But as I wrote before.... Yes, there are some things I dislike but after one night sleep I really, really enjoyed the book. Like many ratings of this book I absolutely agree with the others, that I had a constant smile and laught on my face. So here you are: 5

Sometimes, if you're very lucky, you come across the right book as the right reader at the right time. This was it for me, and I have yet to recover from the book hangover. I loved "From Lukov with Love" so much that probably not a day has passed that I haven't thought about it since I finished the book. You could call it “enemies to lovers,” but I disagree. You could call it “slow burn,” but that makes it seem like two characters getting some action is the whole point and it’s a “wait for it” thing when it’s not. The problem I have with “enemies to lovers” is that most of the time they’re not even enemies. What people often mean is that they enjoy the banter, and you get plenty of first-class banter here. On the surface, it may seem childish but actually made me laugh out loud and also shows how perfectly suited they are for each other, because they only dish out what the other one can handle. I normally don’t even like bickering characters, but I loved loved loved their banter here. If you only read about one “grumpy” character, let it be this one. I almost have no words for how much I love Jasmine as the protagonist. She’s the character I’ve always needed without knowing it: on the outside, seemingly difficult to deal with, when in reality, she’s fierce, unapologetically loving and protective, and incredibly multilayered. And yes, we only get her POV. I love how we have a clear picture of Ivan without fully knowing what he looks like, and not being in his head and knowing what he thinks. Not everything needs to be spelled out. The topic of figure skating pairs incredibly well with the characters (see what I did there?). In one of my favorite scenes that showcases their dynamics is when they get asked what else they would be doing if they weren’t figure skaters, and they come up with nothing. There isn’t anything else. It takes intense focus and a special kind of grit and determination to be an athlete who’s competing at the Olympics – not any competition; we’re talking worlds and the Olympics here, and the goal is first place, always. What is it like to have a passion so deep it consumes your entire world? What is it like to be great, if not one of the best in the world, at something you can’t be good at your whole life, so you don’t know what comes after that? "Icebreaker" could NEVER. Now put together two naturally stubborn people who have known each other since their teenage years (not exactly a phase where you’re known to be nice) and the bickering is priceless. Given that the author is praised as “the queen of slow burn romances,” it shouldn’t come as a surprise that for most part, this book isn’t one you feel like you need to hide when in public, yet it still felt like the characters were on fire. That’s why I don’t really like the label “slow burn,” because the fire was there the entire time. They’re equals who would help each other bury a body, if they don’t end up killing each other, and alternatively choose to spend time with each other all the time, every time. This book has. My. Entire. Heart.

From Lukov with Love is my first time reading Mariana Zapata's work. I picked this as part of the Kindle Hispanic Heritage month challenge based on the many positive reviews on Goodreads and Amazon. Its nomination in best romance category in 2018 also played a role in influencing my decision. Zapata is dubbed the queen of slow burn romance and after reading From Lukov with Love I can see why. This was quite the slow burn. The romance, which came out of left field, came into play at around eighty percent into the story. For a book which is over 500 pages/ 14 hours of listening, one would expect the romance would have developed earlier. Of course, at that point, I didn’t buy into this change in their relationship. There was no real development in that area. They had no chemistry, and their interactions lacked the emotions one would expect from two people in love with each other. I never once got the feeling these two liked each other, much less to fall in love. Their constant bickering and name-calling, which was fun at first, became tiresome the deeper one goes into the story one goes. Now, despite its failure in the romance, From Lukov with Love delivered a lovely story of self-discovery, acceptance and forgiveness. The story shows how the heroine grew throughout the story. She knows what she wants and works hard to achieve her dreams. However, self-doubt and fear of failure held her back. Eventually, she overcame those negatives. I loved the support her family gave her. They believed in her capabilities, even when she doubted herself. It was interesting seeing the story develop through Jasmine’s eyes. However, it would have nice to get Ivan’s POV. Without Ivan’s POV, the reader couldn’t tell when he developed romantic feelings for Jasmine. As the story was told mainly from Jasmine’s POV, the reader spends a lot of time in her head. From there, one sees her insecurities. However, Jasmine’s character was quite abrasive. One may find it difficult to like her. It took me quite a while to warm up to her. I am still on the fence where Ivan I concerned. He behaves like a jerk for most of the story. Then, when Jasmine fell ill, his tender side reared up. It felt forced, and personally, I thought he showed that side because he needed her to get better for their competition. The story provided some comic relief at the right moment. It helped to balance out the moments where Jasmine’s inner monologue became tiresome. Although From Lukov with Love did not wow me, I will not hesitate to try another one of Zapa’s books. The story’s narration was performed by Callie Dalton and Teddy Hamilton. Callie’s delivery of Jasmine’s wit, passion, sarcasm, and self-doubt was on point. This is my first time listening to Callie, and I thought she did a wonderful job. Teddy’s narration occurs whenever dialogue for Ivan’s character comes into play. He did an excellent job of bringing Ivan’s character to life. This review was originally posted on Totally Addicted to Reading

One word to describe this book. Wonderful. Thanks to life I had to take several breaks while reading it so it took me two days finishing it instead of one but those two days were wonderful. This is probably my favorite Zapata book and definitely a book I'd reread. Jasmine is amazing. Everything about her inner thoughts and the way she handled Ivan was wonderful to me. I loved Ivan too. It was obvious from the beginning he cared a lot about Jasmine and knew her very well. It was cute watching her notice how much he cares for her and how she changes into liking him (openly). Their bickering was cute especially when they'd kick each other under the table or mouth insults to each other. They were really cute together.

Also Slow-Burn ist hier gar kein Ausdruck! 🥰❤️‍🔥🥰❤️‍🔥

Fucking hell, ich liiiiiiieeeeebeeeee Ivan. Wo kriegt man einen her?

Oh god I’m crying. This book deserves all the stars I can give and more! EVERYONE GO READ THIS BOOK NOW!!!! I was enchanted since the first chapter and it didn’t loose it’s spell on me until the end. Jasmine and Ivan have my heart. I’m so emotional right now! This book was the blue print for an enemies to lovers slow burn you can’t convince me otherwise! The story was magically awesome and so great and the way it was executed and written made it even better. IT WAS SO GOOD. I LAUGHED. I CRIED. I AM AN EMOTIONAL WRECK NOW AND WILL NEVER RECOVER AGAIN! Kill me right now I want a love like these two have!!! It was so good I could go on until forever how good but my words wouldn’t possibly be worthy of how good this book actually is. READ IT IF YOU HAVENT OR IM GONNA FIND YOU AND FORCE YOU TO!

This was chunkier and longer than I thought it would be, but I really liked it! I did not like the characters at all in the beginning, but learned to love them even with their flaws. The slowburn was very good and the story itself was so interesting! However, it did feel stretched out some times. I feel like there were a lot of passages that could’ve been left out, but it wasn’t too bad.

I JUST CAN‘T!

From Lukov with Love ⛸️💕 The story started of quite simple and a bit boring. It just didn't take me in. It's definetly more of a slowe burn romance, where he falls first. For my personal preference some of the chapter were a little to long. The Story it self was quite sweet. I absolutely loved Ivan and the way he cared for Jasmine. My heart melted when i started to notice, that he was falling for her. Somehow i think the way he calls her "Meatball" is so sweet. 😍 My favorite part of the book was, when Ivan stood up for Jasmine against her father and told him that she was everything else but a quitter. They may have started of as enemies, at least if you ask Jasmine, but endet up to be best friends and in the end the most beautiful cupel.
