3 stars is a good rating. I liked this book, I had fun while reading it and it was so easy to get through. The reason it‘s not a 4 star is that it didn’t move me in any way. I don‘t feel attached to the characters at all. The minimal amount of romance that we got was meh. The familial bonds in this are probably the only emotional thing that was done well for me. Besides it not affecting me emotionally at all, it was a fun read. The mystery in this book was compelling and I loved the pacing and the chapter lengths. All the reveals were interesting and I didn’t predict most of them. There is always something going on but it’s not one of those mysteries where murder is the main plot. And I really like that. The whole postcard thingy I loved and it got me more worked up then any murder could’ve. The author does know how to write these spiderwebs of connections and secrets and it feels like you only ever get a thread at a time. I feel like this story could’ve done with two books but it‘s still going and that’s fine by me. Problem is, if I am not emotionally invested then I am not really compelled to keep reading. I wish I liked Avery more and I can’t really connect with any of the Brothers either. I have accepted that but that obviously affected the rating heavily. I am going to pick up the next book, just because I want to see where this is headed. I hope I‘ll get more invested with the next one and that I am happy with the conclusion.

Wooow!! Mir hat der erste Band schon so gut gefallen, aber ich glaub den hier fand ich noch ein bisschen besser. Es ist soo viel passiert, dabei war das Bich echt nicht dick. Genauso wie beim ersten Band bin ich durch das Buch durchgeflogen. Die Plottwists am Ende fand ich sehr gut. Ich fand in diesem Teil die Beziehung der Charakter aber besonders gut. Ich liebe wie die Charaktere geschrieben sind und ich für mein Teil bin Team Grayson 🫶 Das Einzige was ich auszusetzen habe ist ,dass ich es an manchen Stellen ein bisschen cringe fand. Für mich ist das mein absolutes comfort Buch. Ich freu mich schön richtig auf den nächsten Band.

There is only one rule to understand...if you are a Hawthorne, everything you have to do is winning. I love the way the four Hawthorne brothers care about Avery...how they all want to protect her as if she were their little sister. And yet there is the other side...the romantic attraction between Grayson and Ave and Jameson and Ave. No one really knows exactly how they should feel about anyone. I like the relationship that has developed between Libby and Nash and between Max and Xander. I love the way Jameson and Avery think and work together. They are so similar...in puzzle solving...they are so brilliant. The two of them are simply made for each other. They think alike, they have the same sense of humor, they get on my nerves in equal measure...Jamie & Avery are just perfect together. I love this kind of character, like Jameson and Xander are! Always so ironic, unsettling, but very empathetic at the crucial moments and always there for the people they love. ♡︎ I really like Oren and Alisa. Both are doing their best to protect Avery...but both have doubted their abilities at times. I’m without words! Seriously… This woman. Jennifer Lynn Barnes. She’s a genius! And now I’m wrecked! Everyone talked about the plot twists in inheritance games but I found the plots in this book more prominent. And the way things developed…. I’m mean for the majority of the book I thought things would lead up to that outgoing but then … … it took a complete turn and I had to adjust to the fact that what I thought was, was a lie. But also the relationship to the characters as the reader is so intense idek why. It’s just I got so intrigued with this love triangle and I couldn’t chose bc Jameson is cute and all but Grayson went out of his way for her et cetera. And I know he was a real asshole in the first book but I can’t help but love him. But I also love Jameson. He’s cute he also truly loves her. But I also feel like it is kind of unfair bc both boys feeling were differently displayed. We could see very much of Jameson feelings which is why must people may tend to be on his side, but if you think about it there are not so many scenes where Graysons feelings really got displayed. So I found it kind of unfair. But my true endgame is John Oren…. Overall … I love the book , I already know this series will be a 5⭐️ read for me but I don’t know what to think of the last book and I can’t imagine what could possibly happen there bc I feel like everything is solved but as Jameson said: “ Just when you think you’ve found the last hidden passage, the last tunnel , the last secret built into the walls - there will always be more” .

Jennifer Lynn Barnes schafft es einfach so einen Nervenkitzel durch die ganzen Side Quests und Brain Teaser zu erschaffen, die einen so in dieses Buch versinken lassen, dass man von der „wahren“ Welt nichts mehr mitbekommt. Grayson oder Jameson - noch nie war man so hin und her gerissen 😍 Love Triangle vom feinsten.

Der zweite Band war ähnlich wie der erste, man kam schnell durch und die Geschichte war weitestgehend so spannend das ich zügig durchkam. Aber es gab leider kaum eine Steigerung zum ersten Band. Es mir fast zu ähnlich wie der erste Band. Nicht schlecht, aber auch nicht wirklich gut.

Tbh I forced myself through this book, it was good when I finally got into it. And this just shows how much of a mood reader I am. I loved the first book and bought the whole series straight after but it took me two months to continue the series, so I just didn’t feel the vibe anymore. Now I do again, the only thing I would recommend is reading the books near each other and being Team Jameson. Unpopular opinion but I don’t like Jameson so that’s why it was even harder to get through this. Stay safe! ❤️

Ich bin so froh, dass dies das erste Buch ist, was ich 2023 gelesen habe. Nachdem ich den ersten Teil quasi verschlungen habe, konnte ich es nicht abwarten, mir den zweiten Teil zu kaufen. Leider habe ich mich bis zum Lesestart dieses Buches in einer Leseflaute befunden, weshalb es so lange gedauert hat, es endlich mal anzufangen. - upsi. Wir lernen hier mehr über Avery, Toby und die Hawthorne Familie kennen. Jedes Rätsel, jede Aufgabe hat mich jedes Mal aufs Neue wieder überrascht. Ich habe die ganze Zeit mit Avery mitgefiebert und war wortwörtlich an meinen Lesesessel gefesselt, wann immer ich das Buch in der Hand gehalten hab. SPOILER: Das Ende hat mich ehrlich schockiert, weil ehrlich.. Ich konnte nicht ganz verstehen, wieso Toby nicht ihr Vater ist, wenn gefühlt alles darauf hingedeutet hat und die gesamte Leserschaft (inkl. mir) das geglaubt hat. Alles in allem bin ich bei der “Inheritance Games”-Reihe so froh, mal auf Booktok gehört zu haben. Ausnahmsweise wurden die Bücher mal richtig gehyped und nicht overhyped. :)

3⭐️ Der erste Teil der Reihe war ein Highlight für mich, dieser Band im Gesamten leider nicht wirklich. Das letzte Drittel war schon auch wieder richtig gut, es war nervenaufreibend, spannend und ich wollte das Buch nicht aus der Hand legen, aber davor zog sich die Geschichte einfach zu sehr, um mich wirklich fesseln zu können. Nichtsdestotrotz werde ich auch noch den letzten Band lesen. Erstens hoffe ich auf ganz viele weitere, gut durchdachte Rätsel und zweitens bin ich schon echt gespannt, wie sich die ganze Geschichte auflösen wird!

Das Spiel geht weiter, die Rätsel, die Geheimnisse. Eine Suche, die oft mehr Fragen als Antworten bringt, die oft endlos zu sein scheint. Gefährlich, mysteriös und im wahrsten Sinne des Wortes all over the place. Sind die Charactere so perfekt und solche Überflieger, dass sie unrealistisch sind? Absolut. Stört das? Absolut nicht. An diesem Punkt akzeptiert man einfach, dass ein/e Hawthorne ein/e Hawthorne ist. P.S. Zählt mal, wie oft das Wort "devastating" vorkommt.

Irgendwas hat die Reihe einfach an sich… Auch der zweite Band war wieder durchweg fesselnd und spannend! Man befindet sich direkt im Zwiespalt zwischen dem Mysterium um das Erbe von Tobias Hawthrone, dem emotionalen Auf und Ab von Averys Liebesleben und der Frage nach Averys Herkunft und Geheimnis ihrer Mutter. Das Buch bietet wirklich auf so vielen Ebenen was. Dazu kommt der atemberaubende Schreibstil und sehr unterhaltsame Humor der Autorin! Buch 3 wird definitiv gelesen… There's just something about the series... The second volume was once again consistently captivating and exciting! You find yourself directly conflicted between the mystery surrounding Tobias Hawthrone's inheritance, the emotional ups and downs of Avery's love life and the question of Avery's origins and her mother's secret. The book really offers something on so many levels. Added to this is the author's breathtaking writing style and very entertaining sense of humor! Book 3 will definitely be read…

Dieses Buch war einfach nur krass! Genauso wie bei dem ersten Teil konnte ich es ab einem gewissem Zeitpunkt nicht mehr aus der Hand legen! Dieses Buch war einfach der Wahnsinn, eines von wenigen Büchern was einfach nur perfekt geschrieben und durchgesetzt wurde! Die Storyline, die Plottwists, die Charaktere, einfach PERFECTION! Und obwohl ich dachte, dass der erste Teil schon krass war, hatte dieser nochmal alles getoppt! Diese Plottwists waren so krass und teilweise so unvorhersehbar! Ich hatte so oft gasping und heart racing Momente und habe immer versucht die Rätsel mitzueraten. Dieses Buch war einfach ein Buch bei dem ich richtig Spaß hatte es zu lesen! Genauso wie schon der erste Teil, ist dieser hier auch ein Jahreshighlight von mir! Love it!

This one focusses more on the relationship of several people which is a huge plus in my book. I hated the "object puzzles" of the first book. If you were in an escape room those scenarios make sense but they utterly failed in the context of a book. I dislike that this book series is essentially a book about the "what if? And then! But then! But then!!!!..." You get the idea. Nothing is as it seems and what ever you think is the truth is overturned 50 pages later by artificial constructions. Its a good book and by the time you finish the second iteration you are familiar with the vast cast of offspring of the old guy. Lets see what the absurd setup up for the third produces... (And the fourth?? Dude.)

3.5 “Why kill two birds with one stone, he always said, when you could kill twelve?” the plot felt a bit chaotic but fast-paced. the love triangle wasn't likeable; i thought jameson and grayson didn't really have a personality. despite that, the resolution didn't sit well with me. some elements seemed unnecessary, and we didn't see enough of the fun characters (the only ones were max and xander). yet, for some inexplicable reason, i found myself appreciating the writing style and the ease of the book enough to give it almost a 4-star rating.

omggg. mindestens genauso spannend wie der erste teil, wenn nicht sogar noch spannender. wir haben so viele neue informationen erhalten, ich kommecht nicht drauf klar. dieses buch haut einfach einen plottwist nach dem anderen raus. aber ich hab noch genauso viele fragen wie vorher.... es ist einfach so spannend, dass man das buch gar nicht aus der hand legen, weil man unbedingt wissen will wie es weitergeht. ich muss unbedingt den dritten teil direkt weiterlesen ahhhhhh und ich will unbedingt wissen warum er ihr sein ganzes vermögen vererbt hat
