Auf "Violet made of Thorns" war ich sehr gespannt, weil ich noch gar nichts über das Buch gehört hatte. Ich war aber wirklich positiv überrascht, denn ich mochte die Charaktere wirklich gerne und die Kommunikation zwischen den Protagonisten ist so witzig gewesen, weil sie sich so schön gezofft haben. Auch die Geschichte war mal was ganz anderes, mit tollen Wendungen. Mir haben aber ab und zu ein paar Zusammenhänge gefehlt und es ging mir etwas zu schnell. Ich wüsste gerne, ob ein zweiter Band geplant ist oder ob es ein Einzelband sein soll 🙈

Mir persönlich hat die Welt und alles um die Seher und die Märchen gut gefallen, allerdings finde ich gerade für eine standalone ist die Handlung sehr dürftig. Vieles wird einfach gar nicht erklärt und auch das Ende des Buches hinterlässt das Gefühl, dass überhaupt nichts an der Geschichte fertig ist. Ich habe es wirklich sehr versucht das Buch zu mögen und immer weiter gelesen, weil ich dachte es würde vielleicht doch noch besser werden. Ich wurde aber maßlos enttäuscht... Charaktere: die Nebenfiguren sind viel zu oberflächlich, die Hauptfiguren sind so lustlos und zynisch, dass ich mich mit keinem einzigen Charakter wirklich anfreunden konnte Setting: wie gesagt ist das wohl das einzig interessante an diesem Buch Handlung: die Handlung passiert finde ich willkürlich und teilweise viel zu schnell Ich denke für Menschen, die eher optimistisch eingestellt sind, ist das Buch nichts wer Zynismus mag, ist wahrscheinlich an der Stelle gut hiermit beraten. Nichtsdestotrotz ist es schade, dass dieses ehemals als Reihe angefangene Buch wohl niemals einen Abschluss bekommen wird und alleine aus diesem Grund würde ich nicht empfehlen es zu lesen, da einfach viel zu viel offen bleibt.

An enchanting book. It has a great reading flow and the story processes nicely. The dynamic between Violet and Cyrus is really fantastic yet frustrating. I love how many fairytale elements are embedded in the story, but the ending was a bit lax and felt a bit too rushed. But all in one a great book.

It wasn't bad, I did enjoy the read but the story will probably not stick with me for very long. The plot become confusing very quickly. It's easy enough to follow the bare bones like the prophecy for the Prince and the marriage that the king arranges, but then random things get thrown in. Like where the hell does the Witch of nightmares suddenly comes from, why is the faerie wood there in the first place, what's with the Fate that is not a Fate? The politics of the court and the magic was more of a backdrop, we got a few titbits here and there, mostly in Violets dreams. Violet certainly announced a lot that she is a tough badass, but I didn't see it. Having a sense of self preservation and being mean and abrasive doesn't make her a morally grey character to me. Having said that I still liked her character she's witty, confident and unapologetic. The love hate relationship between her and Cyrus was inconsistent in my opinion. The characters would often change their minds and become at odds with how they were previously described.

I’ve heard a lot of good things about this book and I was curious what to expect. The cover just looks so beautiful and it fits the plot perfectly. I’ve started right away and the book was very easy to read. I couldn’t put the book down and I finished it in a few hours. I really liked the writing style. It was easy to read, very exciting, action-packed and really emotional. I felt so much reading this and loved it from the first page to the last. The characters were very well developed and I was able to understand the individual actions and behaviors very well. I especially loved Violet’s character. She stands by her actions and doesn’t apologize. I really liked the fact that she fully accepted herself and her sometimes selfish behavior. She never bent over backwards for others. I really liked Cyrus as Violet’s counterpart. The squabbles between the two… This love-hate relationship was just so well written and you could actually feel the crackle while reading. If you like books with action, lots of sizzling, enemies to lovers and a lot of feeling, you shouldn’t miss this book.
