Den Anfang fand ich zwischendrin etwas zäh (diese ganze Planung...), ansonsten halt ein klassischer Brandon Sanderson. Großartig geschrieben, tolle Geschichte, spannendes Magiesystem und am Ende kann man es kaum aus der Hand legen. Das Ende hab ich zumindest ein kleines bisschen kommen sehen, von einigen Sachen war ich aber auch richtig überrascht! Bin super gespannt wie es weiter geht!

The Final Empire beginnt ruhig, fast distanziert – aber je tiefer man in die Geschichte eintaucht, desto mehr entfaltet sich eine Welt voller Magie, politischer Intrigen und komplexer Figuren. Besonders Vin wächst einem schnell ans Herz, ihre Entwicklung ist glaubwürdig und berührend. Die Magie ist faszinierend, die Dialoge – vor allem mit Elend – überraschend feinfühlig, und das Finale hat mich emotional mitgenommen. Ein durchdachter, starker Auftakt, der nachhallt – und Lust auf mehr macht.

Meine beste Freundin hat mich mehr oder weniger dazu gezwungen das Buch zu lesen. Ich war erst wenig begeistert, da ich sonst mit Fantasy Romamen wenig anfangen kann. Aber ich muss sagen WOW, das ist definitiv eines der besten Bücher, die ich gelesen habe! Man muss defintiv dem Buch etwas Zeit geben, um in die Story herein zu kommen (ab Seite 80-100 ist man drin. Keine Sorge bei 650 Seiten geht das schon ;) ). Man muss auf jeden Fall das Buch aufmerksam lesen, ich habe auch oft etwas zurückblättern und manche Stellen nochmal lesen müssen. Aber es lohnt sich total!! Die Geschichte von Kelsier, Vin, etc. ist super spannend geschrieben und ich hatte wirklich Lust das Buch zu lesen. Das ganze System mit den Metalen ist wirklich gut gemacht. Ich kann es jedem empfehlen! :)

Ich hab nicht genug Worte um zu sagen wie sehr mich dieses Buch gepackt hat. Meine Erwartungen waren hoch und sie wurden übertroffen. Ich liebe es und kann es nur jedem Fantasy Fan weiterempfehlen. Ich freu mich soooo sehr die Fortsetzungen und die vielen weiteren Bücher von Brandon Sanderson zu lesen!!! 😻😻

Erst wollte ich 4 Sterne vergeben, weil ich mit dem Mittelteil nicht soo happy war und er mir etwas zu langatmig war und dann kam zum Ende hin aber alles zusammen und hat super viel Sinn ergeben, daher ist es ein klares 4,5 Sterne Buch für mich. Ich liebe die Hauptfigur Vin und fand ihre Journey großartig. Das Buch erklärt das Magiesystem "Allomancy" soo gut, dass selbst ich, der bei Büchern oft Schwierigkeiten hat, sich Dinge vorzustellen, IMMER einen Film vor Augen hatte, weil Brandon Sanderson seine Welt so toll beschreibt. Kelsier ist ein fantastischer Charakter, wirkt ein bisschen wie Butcher aus The Boys und auch der Rest der Crew ist mir sehr ans Herz gewachsen. Vor allem Sazed. Die Geschichte ist einen Heist plot, hat romantische ELEMENTE, eine emotionale und mitreißende Geschichte, die Action ist grandios beschrieben, so dass man immer weiß was gerade passiert. Ich hatte einen riesen Spaß mit diesem Buch und es könnte mein bisheriges Lieblings High-Fantasy Buch sein! Ich kann es kaum erwarten Band 2 anzufangen!! 🤩

“Never trust a man who tells you good news.” So, I finally started the Mistborn-saga and with it my Brandon Sanderson journey, as this was the first book of him I've read. I needed some time to get into this story, but for me this is a standard in fantasy literature. It just takes a few chapters to build up the world, get used to the characters and grasp the feeling of the ambience. I must say I am in love with the magic system. If you don’t know, the magic in Mistborn is based on Allomancy which grants its user different kinds of powers for “burning” the correspondent metal in the users body. Steel, for example, grants the power to push on metals, tin enhances the user's senses, etc. Now, I want to mention how smart Sanderson is. Because my immediate thought was “People have iron in their blood, wouldn’t it then be useful to just manipulate your enemy’s iron in their blood?”. But nope, Sanderson thought about that. It is explained, pretty early in the book, that metals, connected with the human body, cannot be affected. Like the metal bars wedged in the Steel Inquisitors’ eye sockets. That is such a minor but important detail that really stuck with me and shows how thoughtful the author was/is in creating his stories. It is not the best book I’ve ever read, but it’s a damn good book and I’m excited to continue this series. The story is really interesting and unique.

I now understand why Brandon Sanderson's books have such high ratings. This was my first book in the cosmere and will definitely not be my last. The book and its length and the small font size seem daunting at first. But it's actually so accessible! I was scared of no understanding a single thing but everything was explained and described so neatly it was really easy to understand and follow the story. It did take me a while to get into though if I'm being honest because the first 200 pages contain a lot of political talk which I don't care for (but obviously is necessary) I love action, battels, intrigues, magical magic system, heists, being submerged into a world and great character arcs . Mistborn has it all.

Loved it. It is the best book in this series. Amazing world-building. And everything is so well resolved. I grew with Vin, I was excited about the rebellion with Kelsier and the rest, fell in love with El, I felt for the Skaa, I hated the Lord Ruler. I lived in this book while reading it. Allomancy is a great, well, gift. And it was so plausible! I read a lot of YA fantasy and am not used to high fantasy, but that book was am excellent reading experience.

I was worried to pick up another widely celebrated fantasy author after my George R. R. Martin "Waterloo". Brandon Sanderson luckily is far from that category - although I'm not all hyped about him yet either. What I did like and adore about this first book of his Mistborn-trilogy, as many people, is the magic system. I find it clever in how it regulates the power of those able to access magic to prevent the emergence of unbeatable (and thus implausible) "superheroes". I am somewhat worried that Vin might turn into an overpowered character despite that, though. Also, I did enjoy the world- building, including the excursions into myths, legends and fragmentary "memories". I could bear with that even though it felt like 75% of the book with the actual story slugging along as a side note for that part. When the story got into focus (finally!), it was mostly amazing. 'Mostly' because I felt that there were those moments when the author chose to shake something from out of his sleeve instead of taking the time to build a "proper" solution that didn't rely on the reader's blind acceptance as much. As for the characters - of which there were quite a lot with quite few females: Sadly, most characters felt flat to me and weren't able to make me care. One character actually managed to annoy me quite a bit: Kelsier. As a former online roleplayer, it never fails to raise my hackles when characters hang about on rooftops with their coats or cloaks billowing out behind them dramatically in the breeze while they gaze into the distance thoughtfully. And he does that. A lot. Also, Kelsier generally feels like he got all the cool attitudes and action hero lines Mr Sanderson's roleplaying characters never were allowed to use in his pnp rounds for fear of an annoyed dm dropping an angry gargoyle on them. I'm almost ashamed to say it, but my feeling upon his death was relief (in the hopes that death is more reliable in the Central Dominance than in Westeros). But: There were two and a half characters I could dote on and obsess over enough to make me happy. And one of them even is the mainest main character of the lot, Vin. I enjoyed watching her character development as much as discovering Allomancy with her, I feared for her and with her, and I was overjoyed to find that, apart from logical restrictions due to her story line, she was well able to look after and think for herself. She is the main reason, apart from the interesting world as such, that I'll read on at some point in the near future. The other character who I took to is, of course, Sazed. Who could not love a figure whose basic concept is that of a walking library while being so benign and kindly about it? Feruchemy seems an almost better concept than Allomancy, and his background story is fascinating and horrifying at the same time. The "and a half" is the kandra. I need to learn a lot more about that fascinating kind of creature... I was not overly excited that Vin had to get a love interest, though I guess, for some reason, you have to have that in books for anyone over the age of 12... and I'm completely fine with the lack of sex scenes here. At least that bullet of potential corniness was dodged. So, all in all, a promising first part with no faults that might not be "redeemed" by the other parts.

Brandon Sanderson hat sich still und heimlich zu einem meiner Lieblingsautoren entwickelt, ich habe bisher noch kein Buch von ihm gelesen welches mich enttäuscht hat. "The Final Empire" war da natürlich keine Ausnahme und hat mir sogar von all seinen Büchern, die ich bisher gelesen habe, am besten gefallen. Die Geschichte konnte mich von der ersten Seite an fesseln und fast 650 Seiten haben sich schon lange nicht mehr so kurz angefühlt. Für mich hat in diesem Buch einfach alles gepasst. Die Handlung ist durchgehend super spannend und konnte mich immer wieder überraschend. Es gibt spannende Kämpfe, verrückte Pläne und politische Intrigen. Man fiebert ständig mit den Figuren mit denn die Handlung nimmt immer wieder unerwartete Wendungen und man kann sich nie sicher sein, dass die Figuren aus all heil wieder herauskommen. Kelsier und Vin, die beiden Figuren aus deren Sicht man liesst, sind zudem beide super interessant. Die beiden könnten kaum unterschiedlicher sein. Kelsier ist ein geborener Anführer und liebt es durch seine verrückten Aktionen im Mittelpunkt zu stehen, doch er hat auch ein klares Ziel und würde alles dafür geben dieses zu erreichen. Vin dagegen ist noch sehr jung und hat ihr bisheriges Leben hauptsächlich damit verbracht möglichst nicht aufzufallen um irgendwie zu überleben und ist daher sehr misstrauisch. Doch beide sind unglaublich mächtig, denn sie sind sogenannte Mistborn und können dadurch durch das konsumieren von verschiedenen Metallen unglaubliche Kräfte freisetzten. Das Magiesystem in dieser Welt ist sehr komplex, super faszinierend und absolut einzigartig. Ich garantiere, dass jeder der dieses Buch liesst sich wünschen wird auch ein Mistborn zu sein. Allgemein ist die Welt in dieses Buches ziemlich aussergewöhnlich denn hier hat das Böse gewonnen. Der Herrscher dieser Welt, welcher gleichzeitig als eine Art unsterblicher Gott angesehen wird, sollte einst diese Welt retten, doch nun ist er ein grausamer Herrscher, der einen grossen Teil der Bevölkerung unterdrückt. Doch Kelsier und sein Team wurden von der Rebellion angestellt um ihn zu stürzen und entwickeln einen abenteuerlichen Plan um ihn zu stürzen...

I understand now why Sanderson is so beloved. This was amazing. It was so intriguing: I felt sucked into the world, the book constantly kept my guessing about the plot and background information and the characters were wonderful, a lot of them were quite complex and our main crew was super likable. Sazed was my fave. Worldbuilding and magic systems aren't as important to me than to other people, but I felt like Sanderson nailed both. It was dark but also really fun to learn about. Every time a trope came up that I didn't care for or felt I had seen a million times, it ended up being really well done so I didn't mind anymore and even ended up liking it. There was a great mixture of court intrigue, thief life and planning, as well as a little backstory on the Lord Ruler. Basically, it was suspenseful, fascinating and engaging. The only nitpicks I have are that Vin's weakness of lacking trust was brought up a little too often and I wished that we would have spend more time with Elend, so that his ending would have been even more satisfying. Big recommendation to everyone who likes high fantasy. Reread 2020: Still just as great, even though I knew the surprises to come.
