This starts off pretty dry but picks off steam once the exploration starts. While I liked the sense of wonder that comes with investigating everything on Rama, it's basically just a bunch of stuff that happens. There are nice ideas, but most thoughts are dropped after they are expressed. It's quite fun, though, and I really enjoyed the prose. From time to time, dryly humorous lines are dropped and I just loved those. Rama manages to be a fascinating place that leaves enough to the readers imagination and the way everything is presented makes the book pretty entertaining. Apart from some fun facts about them, the characters are truly lacking, but I don't really think the book as it's supposed to be really suffers from it. The wording and how some things are proposed was what made this book for me and I don't remember the writing of other Clarke books to be that fun.
