after reading the first few books I already knew that Maggie Stiefvater was a lyrical genius but the symbolism in this book was crazy. I wanted to go back to the beginning and read it again with some coloured markers to mark every metaphor, every word, every thought. The character relationships make me the most envious I’ve ever been but in a good way because they are soooooo good and I love every character in this book in a different complex way. I definitely recommend reading this book but to really READ every word attentively.

I don't have much to say except that I like "Blue Lily, Lily Blue" as much as I did "The Raven Boys" and "The Dream Thieves". It was nice to finally see some more of Blue and what Blue's powers actually are, although in comparison to the very heavy focus on Ronan's POV "The Dream Thieves" had, the limited amount of Blue's POV in this book is disappointing. The character development of all of the characters gets continued in a way that is consistent and makes me like especially Adam and Mr Gray more than I did before. I really enjoy Maggie Stiefvater's writing and story telling style.

I’m REALLY disappointed with this book. It was sooo slow and only got exciting at the end. The characters were sometimes quite different than in the first two volumes and this book seemed like a placeholder. I love the first two books in this series but this was too much dramatic and I often rolled my eyes 'cause of the characters which I actually like?? Idk if I want to read the last book in this series, I just don’t want to get disappointed again.

Meinung Der Schreibstil von Maggie Stiefvater gefällt mir von Band zu Band mehr - ich brauche immer ein paar Seiten, bis ich vollkommen in der Geschichte bin, aber sobald dies der Fall ist, will ich das Buch nicht mehr aus der Hand legen. Die Atmosphäre ist unglaublich fesselnd und zieht einen in eine andere Welt. Auch in diesem Band haben mir wieder ausnahmslos alle Charaktere gefallen, besonders Mr. Gray kann sich mit jeder Seite mehr in mein Herz schleichen. Die Beziehungen untereinander machen die Reihe für mich jedoch zu etwas ganz besonderem. Gerade die Freundschaft zwischen Ronan und Blue gefällt mir unglaublich gut ~ man merkt einfach, dass sie mittlerweile alle zu einer großen Einheit geworden sind und dementsprechend miteinander umgehen. Ich habe in diesem Band sehr oft lachen müssen, habe aber vor allem auch mitgelitten und mitgeliebt. Das Lesen war eine Achterbahnfahrt der Gefühle und hat mich sehr mitgerissen. Die Handlung hat mir auch in diesem dritten Band wieder sehr gut gefallen. Ich fand die Suche und das damit verbundene Rätseln sehr genossen und nicht nur die "Auflösung" am Ende hat mich nach Luft schnappen lassen. Ich muss unbedingt wissen, wie es weitergeht, auch wenn ich bereits jetzt sehr großen Respekt vor dem Finale habe. Auch nach diesem Band geht es mir so, dass ich keine Ahnung habe, auf was alles zusteuern wird ~ ich bin sehr gespannt! Fazit Somit komme ich auf 4,5 von 5 Sterne. Die Reihe gefällt mir immer besser und hat sich einen Platz in meinem Herzen erschlichen. Blue, Gansey, Adam und Ronan sind unglaublich fesselnde Charaktere, die mich noch sehr lange begleiten werden. Ich kann die Reihe jedem empfehlen, der dunkle und magische Fantasy-Geschichten mag ~ gibt ihnen eine Chance und lasst euch in ihre Welt mitziehen.

(...) blue was perfectly aware that it was possible to have a friendship that wasn't all-encompassing, that wasn't blinding, deafening, maddening, quickening. it was just that now that she'd had this kind, she didn't want the other." this book was way darker than i'd remembered! there's horror fantasy elements, dark places and dangerous magic - i'm talking about dark places in the characters' heads though, because the book's way of dealing with anxiety really stood out for me this time around. and i think it's amazing how maggie stiefvater handled it! and please, we don't have to talk about the romance. this book is not about romance but still. it kills me. (the FREAKING MIX TAPE) in general, the character growth is everything. their journey isn't over yet but the characters have changed so much already; as the story continues there seem to be more and more layers of their personalities that we hadn't known before, and everything that's happening affects them because they're human. my favourite will probably always be gansey because i just feel with him the most - i don't mean to say that we're similar but i just know the feeling of WANTING something so bad as well as being terribly worried even though i know there's no reason to. then there's blue whom i just admire so much; i wish i was even a little bit like her or that i had her as my friend! i've always loved ronan but with this reread, i'm starting to love him even more and i love seeing how maggie writes about herself a little by writing about him. and then there's adam - he used to be my least favourite until i read the raven king, when i started enjoying his chapters the most. now that i'm reading the series again, i'm realising more and more how brave he is and how much he's growing to be his own person and i could get teary eyed just thinking about him. what i love most, though, is their friendship. that's the magic of this series for me!! and it's why i put that quote in. and now i'll hide from the world for today and start reading the last book and then i guess i will cry a little. bye.

Ha, when I finished The Dream Thieves I never expected that Blue Lily, Lily Blue would suck me into the plot so much. Oh boy, what a journey this book has been! I wish that the previous book would have been that great and now I really hope that The Raven King won't disappoint me, but here we go. Blue Lily, Lily Blue was more emotional than all the other books. By now, we know the characters and how they used to be, but this book changed a lot and went deeper with everything. It slowly builds towards the big showdown, the final revelation of what we expected to happen since book 1. Like, finally some progress of being a step closer to finding Glendower! Or that Adam has enough of being his old self and Ronan of doing something good with his dream power. Gansey showed some vulnerability as well and doesn't seem to be this perfect, polished guy anymore. He is still the obvious leader of the group, but something raw starts to show through. Which for me, is character development and less boring than having Gansey from books 1 and 2. Also, finally, there is some attention to Blue's character and her power. Everything seemed far more interesting this time around. There are new characters (funny ones!!), new locations, more in-depth moments. I'm starting to repeat myself, but woah, just so much happened that makes me happy (and sad?!). I can't mention it enough, but the story moved forward and I'm so excited about this! I can't wait to read The Raven King, because I'm psyched! Conclusion Blue Lily, Lily Blue gets 4.5 out of 5 stars because it was REALLY great but the whole series is still a tiny little bit too shallow for me to give it full 5 stars. Maybe The Raven King will convince me to rate it better, but who knows.

After book two, I thought it could only get „worse". And even though I know that book two was not surpassed (at least for me), book three is wonderful. Maybe you also expect some questions to be resolved over time, but actually the question marks only get bigger and bigger and replaced by new ones and you love it. It's exactly how you want it to be and that it never ends. I didn't like Henry initially, but now I love the boy and find it a pity that he only plays such a small role. How nice it would be to learn more about him. His interactions with Blues Raven-Boys. Seeing how Blue's and Gansey's relationship develops is exciting and at the same time a big question mark. One wonders ... when and where did Blue and Gansey happen and how and why? But maybe all these things don't need an answer and in these books a lot happens between the lines anyway and I love that - even if sometimes I would like to have more "on the lines". It's the same with Ronan and Adam and I love them. Would love to have more "on the lines" and not just in my head - but maybe it would take away some of the magic? Who knows. I loved seeing how important Maura is to Blue and how much Blue needs and loves her mother. I also love the relationship between Persephone and Adam! Big love for that combo, hoho. Gwenllian has never been one of my favourite characters, but the more I read the books, the more likeable I find her xD

I enjoyed this book a lot. But writing a proper review means to spoil some things, so you shouldn’t continue reading if you have yet to read this. FYI I‘m going to write the spoilery part in german because my brain ist still zu fuzzy to formulate english sentences. Sorry! Ich habe eine Weile gebraucht, um dieses Buch zu lesen, was ich hauptsächlich auf Uni und Leben schieben möchte, aber eigentlich hatte ich zu große Angst weiter zu lesen. Immer wenn ich das Buch zugeschlagen habe, traute ich mich eine Weile nicht wieder ran, denn wer wusste schon, was mich auf der nächsten Seite erwarten würde? Ich hätte auf Maggie vertrauen sollen, denn es ist nicht eingetreten, was ich befürchtet hatte, obwohl ich bis zur letzten Seite besorgt und angespannt war. Dieser Teil der Reihe war nicht so ‚mind-blowing‘ wie die Teile davor - deswegen nur 4 Sterne. Aber er war trotzdem gut, ich mochte alles, auch wenn ich Blue und Gansey und Adam und Ronan verflucht habe, als sie Gwenllian aus der Höhle geholt haben. Ich meine - Hallo? Sie hat Chainsaw und Noahs Körper übernommen, andauernd dumme Rätsel gesummt und trotzdem haben sie sie nicht als potentiell gefährlich eingestuft? Außerdem hätte ich mir gewünscht, dass mal noch eine Sekunde - oder wenigstens ein paar Minuten - länger nachgedacht hätten, bevor sie den Sarg geöffnet haben. Denn woher sollten sie wissen, wen sie da wecken? Aber okay. Das Jesse dran glauben musste, war fies. Da taten sie extra alles, um ihn zu beschützen und dann funkt Piper dazwischen. Obwohl von vornherein abzusehen war, dass Piper die Gefährlichere im Greenmantle-Duo war. Eigentlich mag ich sie, aber ihre Mir-doch-egal-Haltung macht mich sauer. Sie schätzt gar nichts, außer ihren eigenen Spaß/Wissensdurst und geht furchtbar mit ihren Mitmenschen um. Kommen wir zu Persephone - Warum? Ich hätte gerne eine Erklärung was genau sie bezwecken wollten und was dabei schief gelaufen ist. Ob Neeve damit was zu tun hatte? Kam Persephone ihr vielleicht zu nah und deswegen hat sie „ihre Seele entführt“? Könnte die noch da draußen herumschweben? Und wo gehen Seelen hin, wenn sie den Körper dauerhaft verlassen? Und warum kam noch keiner auf die Idee diese zwei riesigen Spiegel zu entfernen/zerstören? Sie wissen doch, wie gefährlich sie sind. Naja, ich bin jetzt erstmal gespannt wer dieser dritte Schläfer ist und warum er so viele Beine hat.

Dieses Buch hat mir sogar noch besser gefallen als die vorherigen. Die spannenden Szenen, die in den ersten beiden Teilen immer etwas zu kurz kamen, waren deutlich zahlreicher. Das hat die story sehr voran getrieben und viele neue Charaktere mit auf den Plan gebracht. Besonders an diesen Büchern ist, dass man aus fast allen Perspektiven an irgendeinem Punkt liest. Das ist zwar nicht immer förderlich für den Fluss der Geschichte und sorgt manchmal für Verwirrung, aber ich würde es nicht missen wollen. Der Einblick, den man dadurch in absolut verstörende Charaktere erhält, ist faszinierend. Die Protagonisten, die man nun schon recht gut kennt entwickeln auch in diesem Buch sich und ihre Beziehungen untereinander weiter. Ich war besonders gefesselt von den Szenen zwischen Adam und Ronan. Langsam fange ich an auch Adam zu mögen, das mag jedoch daran liegen, dass er viel mit Ronan zusammenhängt, den ich liebe. Der Schreibstil ist immernoch fantastisch und es gab so viele Stellen, die ich nochmal gelesen habe, weil die Formulierung so schön war. Alles wird nun immer verstrickter und ich bin sehr gespannt auf den 4. und letzten Band.

Don't wake the third sleeper! No surprise, I loved it. To me it seemed a little slower than the first two books, it took its time before it picked up the pace in the last chapters. But i feel like it perfectly paved the way for the grand finale that is to come. Soon they would all be kings. Soon, soon.

I have one major issue with all of these book in this series so far: I feel so detached from the characters, and from what is happening. Usually when I really like a book, I am so invested in the story and I feel like I want to be part of this story. I feel as though I am part of the world the author has created, and I am going on this impossible quest with this amazing cast of characters. However, in this series, it feels more like I am observing all of what is happening from above. I don’t feel connected to the story, or the characters. When one of the protagonists is in danger I do not even feel worried for them, since I just don’t feel so close to them. It is really hard to explain how I’m feeling about this; but I can say that this was also the case in the first two books in the series, so maybe it’s the author’s writing style? E.g. when Adam found out that something had happened to Persephone, and when they later found out that she had died, I just didn’t FEEL anything for her. Blue was in so much pain, and that was also portrayed well with the writing style and all, but I just don’t feel attached to the characters, which sometime just makes me not care about the things that happen. That is something I wish I had, especially for this series, but I don’t know why I don’t. Same thing goes for the “plot-twist” at the end, where it was revealed that Neeve and Piper will open the chamber of the third sleeper. That should have shocked me, but it just …. didn’t. Don’t get me wrong, though: I really like this cast of characters. They are all so unique and authentic; every single one of them. And the world itself is so magical and so enjoyable as well. Even the writing seems to fit this type of world very nicely. I kind of just feel like I will never really get INTO it, do you know what I mean? The book was by far the most action-packed out of the three so far, and I really highly enjoyed the plot, I just wasn’t invested in it. But because I read the first book two years ago, and the second one last year, it took me a while again to get used to so many names and places again (Glendower, Cabeswater, everything sounds so similar for me that I sometimes, even in the middle or towards the end of the book, mixed them up). There is one reason why I absolutely love this series though (besides the characters): and that is that somehow, God knows why, these books always make me want to write my own stories. There is something about the story, or about the writing, that just always inspires me to share my own writing and stories with the world. And for that I will forever appreciate this series, and Maggie Stiefvater as a writer, since not a lot of books do this with me! Because the book was so action-packed I feel like I was able to get through it very quickly, for my standards at least. I will, of course, also read the last book in the series (The Raven King) sooner or later, but this is a series that I simply just cannot binge-read. I always need a few months of a break before going on to the next book, which will probably also be the case for the last book. 3.5/5 stars

Re-read in October 2020 and still enjoyed it a lot. 4.5* Ich liebe die Reihe einfach total. Am liebsten würde ich die Bücher alle an einem Stück durchlesen doch ich versuche sie jeweils richtig zu geniessen, denn wenn ich dazu greife weiss ich schon vorher, dass mich ein absolutes Lesevergnügen erwartet. Ich kann fast gar nicht beschreiben wie sehr ich Blue und ihre Raven Boys in mein Herz geschlossen habe und wie sehr ich es geniesse in diesen Büchern zu versinken. Die Reihe ist einfach absolut magisch und Blue Lily, Lily Blue ist da keine Ausnahme. Zu der Handlung möchte ich gar nicht zu viel sagen, da ich nichts aus den vorherigen Teil verraten möchte. Doch ich kann sagen, dass mich das Ende absolut überrascht hat und mich die Geschichte obschon sie nicht super rasant ist wieder komplett fesseln konnte. Es gibt so viele tolle kleine Wendungen und Überraschungen doch am meisten liebe ich einfach die Figuren und ich bin sehr gespannt was sich da im letzten Teil noch alles so entwickeln wird. Ich kann die Reihe einfach allen nur empfehlen die magische Geschichten voller faszinierender und liebenswerter Figuren mögen. Ihr werdet ein paar wundervolle Lesestunden mit diesen Büchern verbringen.

4 stars First of all, I've read that this one is many people's favourite book of the series. To me, it's better than the first but a little weaker than the second one. I did enjoy the read and being with the characters again, but the story dragged along at some parts. And in the last few pages i felt like everything was rushing in on me. And : there's a major cliffhanger! So guys, I'll go buy the next book ;-)

Eigentlich müsste ich viel mehr Sterne geben, weil es so gut war. Dieser dritte Teil war packend, spannend, voller Mysterien und völlig überraschender Wendungen, den einen oder anderen Wtf-Moment hatte ich auch, und ich liebe die Charaktere und ihre Entwicklung ❤️ Im Ernst, diese Reihe ist der Wahnsinn

Rezension  Momentan geht es mir nicht gut und ich bin einfach glücklich, dass mich das Lesen ablenken kann!  Diesmal hab ich im Buddyread mit meiner lieben @vanessasbuecherecke den dritten Band der Raven boys Reihe, von Maggie Stiefvater verschlungen!  Er ist deutlich ruhiger,als der Vorgänger dennoch auch spannend eher in Richtung des ersten Bandes. Band zwei beinhaltet mehr Action.  Diese Geschichte hat mich einfach von meinem persönlichen Kummer abgelenkt. Die Jungs sind einfach so tolle Figuren. Ich wünschte sie wären echt. Kennt ihr das?  Was sie haben.. diese Freundschaft ist besonders! Es gibt dort eine Szene die hat mich sehr berührt. Ich hab mich einfach gefreut das Adam, solche Freunde hat. Ich wünschte, ich hätte sowas auch. Irgendwo, aber nicht jeder Mensch hat so ein Glück, auch nicht jede Figur!  Es tauchen neue Figuren auf die einfach frischen Wind in die Handlung bringen. Einige sind witzig, verrückt andere stroh dumm.  Insgesamt entwickeln sich die Figuren*innen weiter, was ich einfach genieße!  Es gibt hier einige gruselige Szenen und auch  süße Situationen, die halten sich in Grenzen !  Wieder mal muss ich diesen grandiosen Humor loben! Ich liebs!  Gott sei Dank, lesen wir morgen weiter. Der Cliffhänger ist böse!  Aber.. Ich will nicht das endet. Es darf nicht enden
