*between 3.5 and 4 Stars I really enjoyed this way more than I thought. I loved the mcs, and all the side characters were awesome, too! Especially Hart...oh boy, finally a male love interest that has blond hair. :') There were only two things that bothered me: 1. The worldbuilding. It was whimsical, magical and in a way very unique, but I had the feeling Bannen was trying to fit too much into one book. For me, it was quite confusing at times and didn't seem completely coherent. 2. The story lost me for a bit after two thirds. Things dragged, and the action scenes were interesting but not as gripping as they should have been. Nontheless, this was exactly what I needed at the time: a super cute romance, magic, a bit of gore and a bit of spice.

Diese wunderschöne Geschichte ist die perfekte Mischung aus RomCom und Fantasy. Ich habe die Welt sehr cool gefunden (vor allem die Sache mit den "Zombies" fand ich mega originell) und Mercy und Hart waren einfach so tolle Charaktere. Beide auf ihre Art liebenswert und voller Vorurteile wenn es um den jeweils anderen ging. Die Briefe der beiden habe ich verschlungen und es so schön gefunden, wie sie sich ganz ohne ihre Vorurteile kennengelernt haben (auch wenn sie natürlich nichts von dem jeweils anderen wussten). Für mich ein rundum stimmiges Buch, das sich die fünf Sterne mehr als verdient hat!❤️

Das war eine der schönsten Liebesgeschichten, die ich in langer Zeit gelesen habe. Selten so liebeswürdige Charaktere erlebt und wir haben hier endlich mal einen Mann, der Gefühle zeigt, sich diese eingesteht und sich selbst reflektiert. Der Protagonist, Hart, ist mürrisch und verbittert - aber vor allem einsam. Was daran liegt, dass er kaum Familie mehr hat, einen harten Job und sich einfach generell schwer tut, andere an sich heranzulassen. Seine Einsamkeit und Verletzlichkeit versteckt er hinter Sarkasmus und einer kühlen Fassade - und seinem Geplänkel mit Mercy, die er berufsbedingt öfter sehen muss als ihm lieb ist, sie für ihr sonniges Gemüt und liebevolle Familie jedoch insgeheim beneidet und zu ihr hingezogen fühlt. Wie die beiden sich näher kommen ist so wunderschön und authentisch. Ich habe mir beim Lesen des Öfteren gedacht "oooh, ist das schön 🥹" Bezüglich dessen, was um deren Geschichte drum herum passiert, hätte ich mir ein bisschen mehr world building gewünscht, denn ich fand das gesamte Setting genauso interessant wie die Romance selbst und hätte hier definitiv gerne mehr von der Welt gesehen und wie sie funktioniert. Die Informationen, die man bekommt, reichen aber auf jeden Fall aus, um alles zu verstehen, ich wollte lediglich gerne noch tiefer eintauchen

Did not understand the world. And now that I'm finished reading this book, I barely understand it but remain confused I guess.Loooooooooved Hart and Mercy. Cute af.Did not expected the sex scene being so sexy but appreciate it very much. All of the other characters were great, a wholesome bunch of people.Not sure what was missing for me, but over all very enjoyable.
