. I am a huge fan of Ana Huang, I love her books and when I heard we are getting a morally grey Vuk novel?? I was sat. I anticipated this one to be my all time favorite, especially due to its length and the characters. In every book Vuk is mentioned he's shining and I was so so ready for this one. Sadly...it left me kind of cold? The writing and language wasn't really deep and both POVs screamed like they were written in the same mindset. Obviously there will be overlaps but the thought processes and inner speech seemed almost too similar. I highlighted a few lines in this one but even those aren't much to remember. It were lines you would expect to be in this type of novel and nothing that truly stood out to me. 𝗪𝗵𝘆 3 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘀? ⭐ Although I did not enjoy the lack of diversity in phrases I did enjoy the idea and concept overall. Vuk was deliciously hot and Ayana was strong and loyal. I also expected to dislike Jordan but in the end he became one of my favorite icons. Ayana's family was a sweet delight and some of the romantic scenes were lovely. When the tropes speak to you I can recommend this book for you.

No, but really, after reading Twisted Lies last year I turned into the BIGGEST sucker for Ana‘s morally grey men and when I tell you that I LOVED Vuk, I 100% mean it. Now you‘re probably wondering why I „only“ gave it 4,5 stars then & not 5, but that is simply because yes, I enjoyed this a lot, but there was just this ✨something✨ missing. I cannot pin point what it is exactly, but I guess my standards are just a little too high after TL (Christian >>>>) This book is still 100% the best in the series so far (for me this series is getting better with each book, ngl) and I definitely recommend picking this up!

Das war ein ganz anderes Level. 💕 Vuk Markovic, unser schweigsamer Antiheld, ist eine der komplexesten Figuren, die Ana bisher geschaffen hat. Seine selektive Stummheit ist nicht nur ein Ergebnis seiner Traumata, sondern auch ein Instrument, das so viel Tiefe und Emotionen transportiert. Die Art, wie er mit Ayana Kidane kommuniziert – wenn er es denn tut – hat mich jedes Mal völlig aus der Bahn geworfen. 👩🏾‍🦱 Und Ayana? Sie steckt mitten in einem moralischen Chaos, verlobt mit seinem besten Freund, aber unfähig, sich dem Strudel aus Leidenschaft und Eifersucht zu entziehen, den Vuk entfacht. 💍 Die erste Hälfte des Buches fühlte sich vertraut an: Spannung, schwelende Konflikte, eine bevorstehende Hochzeit – genau das, was man erwartet. 🔪 Und dann… dreht die Autorin den Spieß um. Die zweite Hälfte ist düster. So richtig düster. Brutal. Intensiv. Die Grauzonen, in denen sich die Figuren bewegen, sind nichts für schwache Nerven – moralisch dunkelgrau trifft es perfekt. ✨ Was dieses Buch so besonders macht, sind die Emotionen. Vuks Schweigen, das er Ayana gegenüber bricht, spricht Bände. Es ist herzergreifend, intensiv und hinterlässt einen Kloß im Hals. Die Dynamik zwischen den beiden ist einfach elektrisierend, und ich fand mich dabei, jede Seite zu verschlingen, nur um zu wissen, wie es weitergeht. 🏆 Eine dicke Empfehlung, wenn du mal Lust auf etwas hast, das dich emotional komplett mitnimmt und moralisch herausfordert. Ana Huang hat hier etwas geschaffen, das sowohl vertraut als auch völlig neu ist – und ich LIEBE es.

The first 300 pages? Fine. Not bad, just... not special. I wasn’t really feeling anything. But the last 200 pages? Crazy good. Plot twists, tension, emotions, romance—all of it hit hard. I loved Ayana’s family and the way they welcomed Vuk. And Shadow? That cat deserves his own novella. Vuk as a character really grew on me—yes, he’s done awful things, but he’s so human underneath. That proposal scene? Chef’s kiss. The twists at the end? Didn’t see them coming. Roman? Obsessed. Give him his own book, please. Not gonna lie though: the grammar mistakes annoyed me, and the beginning dragged. But the payoff was worth it.

Ich gestehe .. ich habe die ganze Reihe hier stehen.. nach King of Wrath liegen alle anderen Bände noch auf meinem SuB🙈 Nun gut .. irgendwie bin ich an King of Envy 📗 in der Buchhandlung hängen geblieben und musste die Geschichte zwischen Ayana , dem beliebten Model und Vuk , den reichen unnahbaren und wortkargen CEO unbedingt lesen.. Vor allem nachdem Ayana eigentlich mit Jordan verlobt ist - dem besten Freund von Vuk😳 Das Buch hat richtig Spaß gemacht zu lesen und das Ende hat mich noch einmal richtig gekriegt 🤯 Story 4/5 ⭐️ Protas 4/5 ⭐️ Spice 2/5 🌶️

never have i ever read something so predictable 🥱 (that’s a lie, i have, but that doesn’t make this book any better). there was a time when i was a true-blue ana huang fan. her best book for me is king of wrath (the match between the grumpy, corrupt italian billionaire dante and the head-strong, proper, chinese jewelry heiress vivian!! inter-racial romance peaked here!!). i had high hopes for the entire kings of sin series but ana’s writing has been going downhill since king of greed. it seems so forced now – the way she creates her characters, it’s as if she’s doing it only for the sake of writing and trying to conform to a set formula. the formula including: grumpy billionaire + characters of different ethnicities (which is totally forced) + some endearment term in another language (srce moje did nothing for me 🙄) + an absolutely unnecessary third act breakup/conflict – among other things. there was no reason for this book to be over 500 pages long!! some people claimed to have liked the first half, i found it boring af. and the second half was so unnecessarily stretched out!! it’s a miracle i managed to complete this book. the ONLY good thing in this 500 paged book was the spice (which i think was only for like 2.5 scenes) – and that just says the book wasn’t great. the entire Brotherhood plotline was so sloppily handled istg. i wonder if people are still waiting for roman’s book because the teaser in KoG was way better than the trailer in KoE. i hope ana never decides to write his book in her own best interest because she so can’t write mafia. another thing that i loathed about this book was the soft (hard?) launch for maya and sebastian who are going to be the next couple in the series. it was so evidently intentional and in-the-face.. girl never learned a thing about subtlety. the way the characters appeared out of thin air in this universe and suddenly became so important?? the whole idea of having books on the seven deadly sins was a flop imo because it wasn’t thought through and has been forcing ana to write things which in a way is taking a toll on her creative freedom. i guess ana just needs to take a step back and tap into that creative side of hers that brought forth the twisted characters and stories. the diversity in those books was so beautiful and totally, completely natural unbidden by external biases. (also, ana, PLEASE write shorter books because you don’t have that mariana zapata magic 🙏🙏. your slow burn doesn’t hit the way you probably intend it to and stretching the story out doesn’t help. at all!! i’ve been noticing this for the past few books – KoS, The Striker and now KoE – i’m so DONE.)

Dieser Band hat mir in der ganzen Reihe am wenigsten gefallen. Mit Ayana wurde ich nicht warm und auch Vuk ist kein Mann zum Träumen. Einige Szenen fand ich auch richtig brutal. Witzig hingegen fand ich Shadow, der das Ganze etwas aufgelockert hat und das Wiedersehen mit einigen Protagonisten aus den Vorgängerbänden war auch sehr schön.

dont get me wrong, i really really liked Vuk & Ayana together, they had great chemistry. however i am conflicted about Huang diving more into the Suspense / Thriller Romance Genre. I liked the elements of Thrill and the „Brutality“ but i would like it even more, if Huang would go all in. If she was about to publish something in the crime / thriller genre i would immediately buy it. I just don’t think its fit for a Romance Series. Just like The Striker, King of Envy was just wayyy too long. 538 pages for a Romance book was too much for my liking.

Ich mag es richtig gerne, immer wieder in diese Welt abzutauchen. Bei dem Band muss ich sagen, dass er mir mit am wichtigsten gefallen hat, weil ich persönlich diesen Kriminal/Brutalitäts Anteil nicht so gemocht habe bzw. Es generell in Büchern nicht gerne lese. Wer sowas in Kombi mit Romance und morally grey Charakteren gerne hat, ist hier auf jeden Fall richtig :)

This book reminded me extremly of twised Lies just with more blood and a different back Story but the plot and how it ended Was close to twised lies. Exapt that little face i liked it. They story Was (exapt of the ending) so sweet and lovly. I loved the stared and they strungel they had but they got through it. Together

Ich liebe dieses Buch, nach Sloan und Xander ist das definitiv mein liebster Teil der Reihe 🥰 Vuk ist einfach der perfekte morally grey Charakter in dieser Welt! Alleine schon die Tatsache das er fast nur mit ihr spricht, weil er seine Worte nicht an “unwürdige” Leute verschwenden will. Ayana ist dafür das komplette Gegenteil. Sie ist süß, freundlich und strickt gerne während ihr Freund lieber jedem Menschen aus dem Weg gehen würde. Das Buch ist am Anfang besonders spannend als Ayana noch mit Jordan verlobt ist. Mir tat es richtig in der Seele weh als er verletzt wurde. Aber es geht ja alles gut aus und auch Jordan ist viel glücklicher, als Ayana und Vuk endlich ein Paar sind 🥰 Die ganze Geschichte mit Vuks Vergangenheit ist auch gut eingebracht! Nicht zu übertrieben aber immer präsent. Und dann ist da natürlich noch Shadow der kleine Held auf vier Pfoten 🐾 Ich Liebs!🥰 Ich freu mich jetzt einfach auf den nächsten Teil!

Obwohl ich sowieso schon viel erwartet hatte, hat es mich umgehauen 🫠 Unhinged, morally gray und deadly Obsessed. He would do ANYTHING for her. Ayana und Vuk sind bisher eindeutig mein fav couple aus der Reihe 💚 Seine Background Story war detailreich und genau passend für die Story 🔫
