It follows Taylor, an elementary school teacher, who plans a summer vacation in Cape Cod with her brother. Unfortunately, Taylor’s vacation takes a deadly turn when she discovers a dead body in their rental. Taylor decides to involve herself in the investigation, despite the protests of Myles, a bad boy bounty hunter who has been recruited to solve the case.

Okay sooo this is my first book by Tessa Bailey. I don’t know how her other books are maybe I’ll like them more or maybe not but I generally really liked her writing style. The book was pretty short ofc (only 290 pages) so idk what I expected but I didn’t expect the characters to fall in LOVE in FIVE days😀. That was pretty fast ngl LMAO. I liked the idea of a romance book with a bit of murder mystery so it was also interesting in that aspect. Tbh I expected it to the the mayor because she turned out to be the business partner of the killed man but I didn’t think that Kurt (her assistant) was also involved. So yeah, I rlly liked the characters; Taylor was very sweet and I rlly liked her as a big sister with how much she wanted to help Jude (her brother). Then we have Myles, I also liked him, ngl he was very hot in my imagination HAHA. He was so overprotective and jealousss 😭😭. Ngl I Found it cute how she literally turned his life upside down, suddenly he started thinking about their life together and them having kids together and it was just kinda cute. I really liked Judes and Taylor’s sibling relationship. Ngl the Drama when Kurt was pointing a gun at Taylor at the beach and wanted to kill her was honestly so good LMAO, ofc Myles saved her and protected her🤭🤭. The proposal at the end was one of a kind 💀 (her being half naked and their families waiting in the house as a surprise for her). So basically I actually liked the book but it wasn’t enough for me for 5 stars. Definitely will try out other books by Tessa Bailey tho!!

Ich wusste nicht ganz was mich erwartet wie eigentlich immer. Ich hatte das mal bei tiktok gesehen und hatte es dann gekauft und im Urlaub beschlossen zu lesen, da es eigentlich gut ins Ambiente gepasst hat. Es war aufjedenfall sehr spicy und dieser Mordfall hat das ganze aufgepeppt. Wobei ich’s gut fand, dass es nicht Zuviel im Vordergrund stand. Es ist etwas unrealistisch, weil die sich erst 5 Tage kennen und so tun als wäre es schon ein ganzes Leben. Aber süß dass er ihr nachhause gefolgt ist und auch nicht mehr gegangen ist 4/🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️

Ich bin super gut in das Buch reingekommen und war von Anfang an gefesselt. Der Schreibstil war super angenehm zu lesen und auch die story war extrem spannend. Ich habe diese Mischung zwischen Mystery und Romance wirklich geliebt. Vor allem mit diesem ganzen Spice und in Kombination mit Slowburn, der Wahnsinn. Jedoch war mir die Einstellung von Myles manchmal ein bisschen zu anstrengend und ich hätte mir etwas mehr Details zu der Mord Aufklärung gewünscht. Obwohl ich den Spice liebe, hätte ich mir manchmal auch etwas mehr Tiefe in den Emotionen gewünscht Im Großen und Ganzen jedoch ein Buch, was ich definitiv weiter empfehlen werde, weil es ein leichter schneller Sommer Read ist und einfach ne total coole story mit krassem Spice.

Ich hatte mich sehr auf das Buch gefreut, da es neben dem Romance Plot auch Murder Mystery enthält, aber wurde leider bitter enttäuscht. Fand den männlichen Protagonisten von der ersten Seite an extrem unangenehm und auch sonst war das Buch wenig mein Geschmack. Wollte erst zwei Sterne vergeben, aber der Epilog hat mir dann doch den Rest gegeben. Einziger Pluspunkt: Das Buch war nicht allzu lang. Bitte erinnert mich dran, mir so schnell kein weiteres Buch von Tessa Bailey zu kaufen und Murder Mysteries nur noch in Krimis oder Thrillern zu suchen.

I had so many expectations from this book but they are burned to ash. I was at chapter 11 and I was still dragging myself. Thank god the nightmate's over. The author try to put spice and murder at the same time but she couldn't balance it. It was really disappointing. There was unwanted spice at very unnecessary places i just couldn't. I was literally skipping words and then pages later. The book was horrible drag for me.

Das Buch gibt mit totale Summer Vibes, das in Kombi mit super sympathischen Protagonisten, Gruppe x Sunshine und Spice, der an den richtigen Stellen richtig dosiert auftaucht - ein echtes Vergnügen! Klare Leseempfehlung an alle RomCom Fans, die eine gute Prise Spice mögen ♥️

It was not what I expected at all. I expected a fun story around Myles and Taylor. Them teasing each other for fun and tension while working on the case of murder together. What I did not expect is that few pages into the book, it’s just about sex. The tension between them being so off the charts from the second they meet that all they both think about is sleeping with the other person. And literally that’s the majority of the storyline - the sexual tension and action between them. I mean it was well written if that’s what you’re into. Just wasn’t what I was expecting to get from the book so it kind of disappointed me.

Vielleicht hatte ich falsche Erwartungen an das Buch, aber leider hat es mich nicht so abgeholt. Ich hatte eher etwas in Richtung Thriller erwartet, nicht jedoch ein Romance Buch mit viel Spice. Die Dynamik zwischen Taylor und Myles war gut und Myles hat am Ende eine schöne Wandlung gemacht. Taylor ist ebenfalls etwas über sich hinausgewachsen, für mich jedoch etwas weniger als Myles.

i didn’t like it. i thought it would be like a in between both like they would solve the murder and sleep some times on the side but i wasn’t anything like that. it was boring i cringed throughout the whole fucking book. it was always repeating itself like they touched eachother amd something came up from the murder and then they just continued life like there was no murder. they knew eachother for 5 fucking days like wtf that doenst make sense.2⭐️

Ich habe das Buch wirklich sehr gemocht. Die Protas Taylor und Myles waren sehr unterhaltsam und deren Beziehung war wirklich Chefs kisses❤️ Besonder das POV von Myles fand ich sehr unterhaltsam und süß, wie er über Taylor gedacht bzw gesprochen hat🥺. Das Englisch war auch sehr leicht zu verstehen und ist daher meiner Meinung nach für Anfänger geeignet.

DNF at 78%. I had been thinking about DNFing it for much longer and realized I should have. At this point there was no real storyline for me and it was just lust. At the point I decided to DNF it, they were fucking in a church and I just can’t with that. I don’t see how you could even write this. I really wanted to like it though, because jt had such a good beginning and I’m curious who the murderer was, but I just don’t wanna continue reading it. It’s not for me and I’m really glad I didn’t buy the physical copy.

Every once in a while you want to read a romance in which women swoon at men who communicate in caveman grunts but would die for said woman. While some actions don’t necessarily hold up under objective scrutiny, I like to think that as long as the characters treat each other with respect, I’m fine with the rest. I should mention that right before this I tried to read “The Dare” by Elle Kennedy and had to check if I hadn’t accidentally picked up a book from 2006. That’s how bad it was. But this one was surprisingly entertaining for those who just want a spicy romance. The Bellingers Sisters series was okay but not for me. But the murder mystery aspect seems to work wonders for Tessa Bailey and I wouldn’t mind reading more like where that came from.

Auf Empfehlung habe ich dieses Buch gelesen und was soll ich sagen? Ich mochte es super gerne. Die Geschichte - ein Mix aus Romance und Mystery - hat unfassbar viel Spaß gemacht, es war humorvoll, zum Mitfiebern, zum Millionen-Theorien-ausdenken-und-alle-wieder-verwerfen und Dahinschmelzen. In erster Linie ging es zwar um die Liebesgeschichte zwischen Myles und Taylor, aber auch beim Lösen des Falls war ich total gefesselt und habe die ganze Zeit mitgerätselt, wer dahinterstecken könnte. Mit dem Ende hätte ich deshalb wirklich nicht gerechnet. Myles und Taylor mochte ich als Charaktere beide total gerne; sie war stets die positive, sonnige, mitfühlende Seite während er definitiv grumpy, etwas abweisend und langsam im Auftauen war, was sich mit der Zeit jedoch geändert hat. Den einen Stern Abzug gibt es leider dafür, dass es mir viel zu schnell mit den beiden ging, dass die beiden ständig miteinander in die Kiste wollten, obwohl sich die emotionale Bindung erst langsam aufgebaut hat. War mir dann einfach etwas zu übereilt und teils auch unglaubwürdig. Trotzdem hatten die beiden auch super süße und herzerwärmende Momente, weshalb das Buch alles in allem definitiv eine Empfehlung ist!

Don't let the cover fool you! This read totally surprised me in the most positive way!The way it's written is so light and funny, I sprinted through it. The romance is top tier and even the crime aspect is so thrilling! I will read this over and over again. It's good on its own and could always help me out of a slump!

Das Buch lässt sich auf Englisch ganz gut lesen und ich mochte den Schreibstil der Autorin. Den Anfang fand ich richtig gut und spannend, weil man direkt in der Geschichte und dem Mystery Part drin ist. Der Mordfall wird im Laufe der Geschichte jedoch immer mehr zu einer Hintergrundsache und es wird sehr spicy. Die Anziehung zwischen den beiden Protagonisten scheint erstmal sehr oberflächlich zu sein, aber dafür sehr humorvoll. Ich finde, dass die Story jedoch viel mehr Potenzial gehabt hätte. Da die Thrillernote immer weniger präsent ist und die Geschichte dann einfach nur noch spicy wird, hat mir die Tiefe gefehlt und an der Handlung war nicht viel dran. Insgesamt ist es ein unterhaltsames, leicht verdauchliches Buch für Zwischendurch.
