This book truly had potential but sadly it didn’t quite live up to it. It had a strong start.Lots of drama and then suddenly she time traveled back to the beginning of the holiday. She got a chance to resolve everything that went wrong the past week but she didn’t do that. The only thing she did was throw away a lifelong friendship for a guy she’s been in love since forever but never had interest in her before she told him she liked him. TF? If a guy only starts liking you because you’re attracted to him that showysome pretty low self esteem. Honestly I rooted for the brother. Like why make them kiss and then doesn’t resolve it ? If you don’t want to make them lovers ok but you don’t have to throw the friendship out of the window. Also the time travel was only covered in the 1/3 of the book so they could have just cut the time travel out and make them show up a year later to Christmas. Why begin something and the not end it? Oh it was mentioned in the end when she had a big fight with Andrew that resolved around him not believing her she time traveled. Say what ? How could he ? Like yeah he doesn’t believe that no sane Person would! In the end he got around and believed her and happy ending. And of course they got married in the epilogue. Honestly at the end skipped through the pages and didn’t even list plot by skipping chapters. I do not recommend unless you’re are 15 year’s old and this is one of your first books to read and you have no comparison

Ein süßes weihnachtliches Buch mit einem magischen Twist, bei dem es für mich eher darum ging, dass unsere Protagonistin Mae zu sich selbst steht als um eine Romance (die geht dann ein wenig damit einher 🤷‍♀️). Die Liebesgeschichte hätte es für dieses Buch aber 1. nicht unbedingt gebraucht und 2. fand ich die auch ziemlich unterwältigend 🙈 Aber zumindest den Weihnachts-Vibe trifft es hier gut 🎄

Kann ich auf jeden Fall empfehlen. Ich hab’s jetzt für den Buchclub gelesen und es ist eigentlich nicht das Genre was ich sonst lese, aber es hat mich doch überzeugt. Interessanter plot, cute romance und etwas Spannung, aber nicht sonderlich viel. Cozy und cute. Mir hat tatsächlich ein bisschen der spice gefehlt. Deswegen stabile 4/5

Leider bin ich anfangs echt schlecht in die Story reingekommen. Als es dann interessant wurde, war es schon vorbei. So richtig überzeugt hat mich das Buch nicht, auch wenn es zwischenzeitlich ganz cute war. Die ganze Storyline rund um „täglich grüßt das Murmeltier“ wurde nicht aufgelöst und hat mich eher genervt als unterhalten, zudem war diese irgendwann einfach kaum noch Thema und wurde von der Protagonistin auch nicht mehr hinterfragt, was mir nicht sehr logisch erschien. Muss man insgesamt aus meiner Sicht nicht unbedingt lesen.

das setting ist cozy und weihnachtlich, also echt perfekt für die Weihnachtszeit. Der Schreibstil ist leicht und flüssig und ich war echt schnell durch mit dem Buch. Allerdings hat die Geschichte mich persönlich nicht so richtig gecatched. Fand es teilweise leider ein bisschen langweilig und einfach zu viel vorhersehbar.

Am Anfang hat mich der Roman an die Serie „The Summer I turned Pretty“ erinnert. Eine junge Frau und zwei Männer, die alle seit Kindertagen befreundet sind. Soweit fand ich es gut und dachte, es würde zu einer klassischen „Dreiecksbeziehung“ werden. Und dann kamen die Zeitreisen. Am Anfang konnte ich mich noch gut auf das Thema „Zeitreise“ einlassen, aber dann hat es immer wieder viel Raum eingenommen. Als dann am Ende noch die „Angriffe“ auf die Protagonistin angefangen haben, die ihr zeigen sollen, dass sie auf dem falschen Weg ist, war ich raus. Es hat mich an den Film „Inception“ und das Aufbauen bzw. einfallen von den Traumwelten erinnert, wenn der Konstrukteur einen Fehler gemacht hat. Immer wieder hat es das Geschehen und die Gedanken dominiert. Ebenfalls empfand ich die Lösung für den Erhalt des Blockhauses doch als sehr platt. Ein alter Freund der Familie, der in Spotify investiert hat? Das war für mich total zusammenhangslos und vorallem zu weit weg von der Protagonstin . Es ging ja eigentlich darum, dass sie etwas tun soll, was sie glücklich macht. Romantik und Gefühle kamen bei mir leider auch gar nicht auf. Eine Identifikation mit der Figur ist leider nicht erfolgt, da es irgendwie wenig emotional geschrieben war. Es wirkt auf mich, wie ein Versuch ein etwas anderes Weihnachtsbuch zu schreiben, ohne dabei eine klare Struktur zu haben. Gelungen find ich den Ort des Blockhauses. Dort würde ich auch gerne Urlaub machen.

Ich fand das Grundgerüst à la „Täglich grüßt das Murmeltier“ echt spannend. Mae war eine echt tolle und nachvollziehbare Protagonistin, mit der sich jeder People Pleaser identifizieren kann. Andrew war auch echt toll und die Dynamik der beiden hat mich an Pam und Jim von „The Office“ erinnert! Sie waren echt lustig zusammen. Das perfekte Buch zu Weihnachten 🎄

Absolutely loved this story. There really isn't a single Christina Lauren book so far that disappointed. It's a perfect story for the holiday season. It was so incredibly hard, seeing this book sitting on my shelf since its release, waiting to get to read it for Christmas. But it was worth it. Christina and Lauren have this ability to tell beautiful stories that warm your heart. I love reading their books that much because their style of writing is so enjoyable and easy to read, in a good way. All the characters they create benefit from this so much, as in this book. The whole bunch of characters was great. I think it's particularly hard to give every character their time to shine with a 'complex' character list like this, but they did it. And the book is not that long! You dont have forever to get to the point, you know. As a reader, you somewhat knew what's going to happen, but also not. I was always a little nervous every time I turned the page, because things could take a 180 within a second. I loved that you, as a reader, knew where everything was headed, but still could be surprised. I have probably said this more times than I can count, but read Christina's and Lauren's books. Huge recommendation!

3.5 stars I loooove Groundhog Day-esque media. And it’s a contemporary romance?? I like Mae and Andrew, but I wanted more from them. They need more character development. Also, Andrew was being stupid about that break up. Like yeah I would’ve been upset for a second, but at the end of the day, she was drunk and it technically never happened.

Die beiden haben mich genau getroffen. Ich fand sie so süß zusammen, wirklich schön zu lesen, wie sie fast wie Seelenverwandte wirken. Ich fand die Spitznamen auch super süß. Wie in Unhoneymooners fand ich die Familien Dynamik so schön, hat sich so cozy angefühlt beim lesen, genau richtig 💖

If I died today, what would be written about me? I do not read a lot of Christina Lauren books. In fact, I’ve only read two so far. One was good, the other was mediocre at best. But in 2020, I just needed a Christmas romance. Unfortunately, I did not pick a good one. I haven’t really read the blurb before I started reading this, so I didn’t know about the time travel. Note to self: read the fucking synopsis before picking up a book!! The time travel was such a weak plot and it got on my nerve as soon as she travelled back for the first time. The romance was poorly done, and I couldn’t sense a connection between them, it seemed way too forced. At one point, Andrew tells Mae that “For so long, you were just a kid. And then a couple years ago, you weren’t.” Yeah, it’s called growing up?! There were just too many characters as well. No one seemed relevant in any way and I couldn’t tell them apart anyway. The book included many cringey moments and the writing wasn’t good either. In one scene, “His eyes gleam flirtatiously, and my lady parts wave the white flag of surrender.” No, no, no, please no. They even have a conversation on a sledge while sledding down the hill. That doesn’t seem like the best situation to talk about one’s feelings?! All in all, I did not enjoy this book and wouldn’t read it again next Christmas season. It’s probably only for hardcore Christina Lauren fans, myself excluded. I was very close to DNFing it.

Das war süß! Richtig schöne Weihnachtsromanze, mit einer liebenswerten Gruppe Menschen, tollen Protagonistinnen und endlich mal ein Buch, in dem Menschen miteinander reden 😭 Sprachlich war es gut zu lesen, und nicht übertrieben witzig/punny, wie es in dem Genre gerade oft üblich ist, was es realistischer hat wirken lassen. Ich fand Maelyn und Andrew und ihre Beziehung richtig toll, es war einfach schön, wie sie von Anfang an offen miteinander waren und ihre Bedürfnisse kommuniziert haben. Ich wünschte mehr Liebesromane würden das zeigen. Das typische Drama zum Ende hin fand ich nicht soo nötig, aber die Auflösung hat mir sehr gut gefallen, auch wenn der Epilog meiner Meinung nach etwas too much war. Schön fand ich auch die Message des Buchs, ich habe mich darin auf jeden Fall wiedergefunden und denke, das wird einigen so gehen. Mehr Infos bzw ein größerer Fokus auf ihren Job und dortige Veränderungen hätte mir noch besser gefallen. Insgesamt auf jeden Fall ein richtig schön weihnachtliches Buch, das Spaß macht und endlich mal ein nach meinem empfinden realistischeres Beziehungsmodell zeigt als sonst üblich in dem Genre, auch wenn es natürlich wieder nur den Anfang der Beziehung zeigt.

Definitely liked this one as a holiday read but some things were missing. I liked the setting and the characters, it was really cozy. I also liked the plot & stuff, but I had my issues with Mae's and Andrews' relationship. It was cute, it was romantic and they DEFINITELY had chemistry but the ending was rushed and we just didn't see enough of them. This whole book was basically Mae simping over Andrew and that she has been in love with him for 13 years, but the time they've actually been together was 2 days or something. So tell me: how is it possible for a serious relationship (that ends in an engagement) to form within 2 DAYS?!? I love the childhood friends to lovers trope but only if we actually get to know things about their childhood together. The problem with this book is that it should have been longer for the sake of developing an actual stable relationship. Was still a solid read though, especially because it didn't feel too repetitive even though it's a time loop plot.

Hach, ich möchte unbedingt mehr von Christina Lauren lesen. In a Holidaze hat einfach Spaß gemacht und war eine unterhaltsame und teilweise auch sehr lustige Lektüre. Besonders gefallen hat mir die Einbindung der weihnachtlichen Elemente, da dies nicht krampfhaft geschieht und tatsächlich eine weihnachtliche Atmosphäre bei mir aufkam. Das habe ich ansonsten leider nicht oft bei weihnachtlichen Geschichten.

Christina Lauren really know how to write an epilogue! Currently (quite unfashionably) crying my eyes out at 1:41, because the author pair really made me form attachments to this wonderful set of characters around Mae and while the story’s not perfect, it was definitely what i needed from a holiday read right now ↳ would i reread? i can definitely see this become a christmas staple for me, as it provides cute escapism that would make for a wonderful movie adaptation <3
