Ein „REREAD“. Ich liebe einfach alles an dieses Buch. Der Schreibstil hat mich wieder abholen können. Die Dynamik zwischen den Protagonisten ist immer noch so spannend und ich liebe diese Mischung aus Enemies to Lovers und RomCom. Und für alle die noch nicht viel auf Englisch lesen. Dieses Buch ist super geeignet. 🥰

The only hating game going on here was between me and this awful book. This book makes me so mad. The (non-existent plot) was boring and very questionable, the characters made no sense at all (just make out already and we'd be done), and the writing felt so convoluted, it made me feel like I was illiterate at times. Far from the quick and fun read I was expecting. The only somewhat good part was when the main character verbally murdered the love interest's father.

Die erste Hälfte hatte mich gequält, ja es gab gute Stellen aber das war’s. Ab der zweiten Hälfte wurde es echt gut und es hat echt Spaß gemacht. Ich habe mir das Hörbuch dazu angehört und es hat mich gestört, dass im Hörbuch stellen waren, die nicht im Buch standen. Ansonsten n süße Story 3/5 ⭐️

It was amazing!!! I loved it, it was so well written. But it’s not 5 stars for me just cause it was this sudden change that they SUDDENLY kissed in that damn elevator even though they "hated" each other so i was pretty confused for a bit. Otherwise it was funny,modern and really sweet. I loved the dynamic between them!

Die ersten 100 Seiten haben sich leider extrem gezogen und ich fand es super langweilig. Der Protagonist war mir irgendwie total unsympathisch und die Aufdringlichkeit von Lucy hat mich gestört. Ab der Hälfte wurde es dann etwas spannender aber im großen und Ganzen war die Story leider langweilig und in die Länge gezogen. 🫣🥺

I've seen other books be described as worse "The Hating Game"s and now that I've finally read it, I have to agree that they don't compare. The office rivalry between the protagonists is SO FUN and I loved following Lucy uncovering how the both of them don't actually dislike each other all that much and falling into each other then. A+ entertainment.

Ich muss ehrlich zugeben, dass ich mich so nen bisschen durch das Buch gequält habe. Ich fand’s anfangs langweilig, dachte das sich das im Laufe des Buches ändert, aber irgendwie isses dabei geblieben. Ich fand Lucy’s Charakterentwicklung schön zu beobachten, da sie von einer zu-allem-ja-Sagerin zu einer Frau wurde, die auf sich achtet und das, was für sie am besten ist, tut. Trotzdem musste ich zwischendrin immer wieder cringen, weil sie teilweise echt aufdringlich war. Joshuas Charakter hat sich zwar auch verändert, nur ist er trotz allem ein weißes Blatt Papier. Find ich etwas schade. Das einzige, was mich beim lesen gehalten hat, ist die Tatsache, dass ich doch gerne den Film sehen will um zu gucken, was sie nun aus dem geschriebenen gebastelt haben. Der Meinung ‘das Buch lese sich in Englisch eigentlich ganz angenehm’ kann ich mich nicht anschließen, vielleicht ist mein Englisch etwas eingerostet, aber ich fands an einigen Stellen verwirrend geschrieben.

I LOVED THIS! It was a really cute romance with some tension and drama but not to the point where it is totally unlikely to happen in real life. I loved both Charakters and their relationship in particular. It was very fun to read, because it was honestly very funny written. Besides that we had some nice Charakter development going on - love that!

I watched the movie prior to reading the book, so I'm not sure if that changed anything, but I think this book is so boring, especially the first half. There is nothing what bothers me in detail, like I don't hate the characters or anything, but I really don't care for their relationship. I feel like I have no idea who Joshua really is, maybe his pov would have been nice, whatever. Some of his actions are kind of creepy, though. Like he painted his room like her eyes and tracked her clothing? Why? There are a whole lot of clichés which wouldn't be a real problem for me in another book, but here, it just added to the boredom. Sometimes, the book tries too hard to funny. That doesn't improve things. The enemy/rival part is not exactly well done in my opinion, they rather seem like two friends joking, and I so not buy this we-loved-each-other-all-the-time-ending. The second star is because of Lucy's character which is actually well developed and her speach to Joshua's father.

Es gab Momente da hab ich dieses Buch geliebt und dann waren da wieder Momente, wo ich wirklich dachte wie lange dauert das noch. Reden wir deshalb auch nicht lange um den heißen Brei rum und fangen mit dem Schreibstil an : Der war um es einfach zu beschreiben anstrengend, Englisch ist zwar nicht meine Muttersprache, aber normalerweise ist das kein Problem. Hier war das aber anders, der Schreibstil war sehr beschreibend und bei mehrmals ist die Autorin dann einfach abgeschweift und ich wusste dann nicht mehr so recht wohin mit mir. Bei dem Job ging sie meiner Meinung nach auch zu sehr ist Detail. Die Charaktere : Ich mag sie, aber beide haben sich besonders am Anfang manchmal mal ziemlich kindisch verhalten und da war was ich gar nicht nachvollziehen konnte. Als letztes die Story : Die ist der einzige Grund, dass das Buch noch 2 Sterne bekommt. Denn da waren wirklich Momente / Zitate , die hab ich geliebt, aber da hat nunmal nicht gereicht

well, what did I listen to instead of studying for cost accounting? yup, this. The MC was slightly annoying in the beginning, but she got better. I think I'd have preferred if there would have been the POV of Josh too. And why don't look the characters on the cover like in the book?? Lucy has black hair!

Viele Klischees und schwache Protagonisten machen "The Hating Game" für mich leider zu keinem Lesehighlight. Die Handlung: Lucy Hutton hasst ihren Kollegen Joshua Templeman aus tiefstem Herzen. Zu allem Übel muss sie sich ausgerechnet mit ihm das Büro teilen. Als eine neue Stelle innerhalb des Unternehmens ausgeschrieben wird, bewirbt Lucy sich sofort - und auch Joshua möchte diesen Posten unbedingt haben.... Meine Meinung: Kommen wir direkt zu einem Punkt, der mich im gesamten Buch gestört hat: Warum genau hasst Lucy Joshua? Ständig lesen wir wie sehr sie ihn verabscheut und es wird daraufhin hingewiesen, dass es auf Gegenseitigkeit beruhigt - aber irgendwie hat es sich mir nicht erschlossen, warum das eigentlich so ist. Zudem sie auch noch ständig erwähnt wie gut er aussieht. Die beiden Protagonisten verbringen den größten Teil ihrer Arbeitszeit damit, sich anzustarren. Möglicherweise wäre das ja ganz niedlich, wenn es sich bei Lucy und Joshua um zwei Kinder handeln würde und nicht um wichtige Mitarbeiter eines Verlagshauses. Ein weiterer Punkt, der mich unglaublich gestört hat: Lucy erwähnt häufig, dass Joshuas direkter Vorgesetzter - um es in Lucys Worten auszudrücken - "fat" ist. Dabei erweckt sie den Eindruck als würde dies ein Merkmal darstellen, warum er weniger kompetent sein soll. Da die Rezension nicht den Rahmen sprengen soll und ich nicht spoilern möchte (obwohl sich ja jeder denken wie das Buch endet, aber naja), belasse ich es mal bei diesen Kritikpunkten.

The only thing I agree with Lucy is: I love Josh 4Eva. Other than that, Lucy is easily one of my most hated characters that I would 900% fight. On sight. AND steal her man. Truly don't understand how Josh was able to put up with all her absolute childish bullshit. At least she knows herself how immature and unprofessional she is. It seems like she has horrendous commitment issues since she runs at every little chance she gets and turning Josh into this evil terrible man that he isn't at all. Yes he's very sarcastic and witty but also kind and just super shy. Honestly definitely caught feelings for this fictional character YES LEAVE ME ALONE BUT she does not deserve him at all. She's a whiny annoying woman who is weirdly obsessed with being oh so short and tiny??? I'm sorry but it's kind of worrisome. And the smurf thing...............ya. The end was a little rushed since there kind of was a bigger buildup to it but it's whatever. I just hope my Joshua is ok.

Ich habe dieses Bich so genossen! Lucy und Joshua sind Rivalen und kämpfen um eine Beförderung. Sie können sich absolut nicht ausstehen, doch dann kommt alles anders 🤭 Ich liebe die Dynamik zwischen den beiden so sehr! Das Buch war Dank viel Humor super unterhaltsam, durch Joshs Familiengintergrund aber auch super emotional. Es war ein absolutes Lesevergnügen, klare Empfehlung von mir! 😊

Actually I thought I already read this book…well, now I have. In my opinion it‘s a fun rom com, a bit overhyped with some cringe moments, but…pretty enjoyable regardless. I listened to the audiobook and the narrators did such a good job. I think listening to it made me enjoy the book more than I would otherwise. 3/5⭐️ 🌶️

I absolutely hated the beginning of the book but the good rating kept me going. The characters are really flat and boring. I consider some scenes rather sexist, such as: - According to the main character, blue post its are ‘manly’ - “The dark brown headboard, plushly upholstered in leather, saves the room from femininity.” Needless to say the walls were blue. - “You’re mad I rescued you? Boys don’t need rescuing.” In another scene, she wears a short dress and says about herself: “The investigators will see my fishnets and heavy eye makeup and assume I’m a hooker.” Yeah, what a great way to make me hate your character. Adding to that, her love interest isn’t any better. He takes her phone and ends the call and in the end, she realises that he painted his walls the exact same colour of her eyes. What a creep. I expected more :(

You may think that this is an enemies-to-lovers book, and the title really hints to that. But it turns out, it´s really not. It is just some workplace-banter and annoying-each-other (seemingly) because they do not really loathe each other. And that´s why I am of the opinion that "enemies-to-lovers" really only works in fantasy books. However, the banter and the silly little games between Josh and Lucy were entertaining and I had to laugh out loud in some situations. It is kind of a slow-burn, because they get intimate only in the last 10 % of the book. But they want each other way earlier. Especially Lucy. She drools over just the thought of Josh and gets nearly obsessed with him. All in all, the book was quite entertaining BUT what really really annoyed me was the fact that it was mentioned like every two pages how small and little Lucy is. We get it. I got it the first two times. No need to mention it every chapter. Would I recommend it? I rather not. There are other romance/romcom books more worth your time.

Dieses Buch auf Englisch zu lesen, war sehr angenehm. Eine klassische Romance Story, die beim Lesen viel Spaß macht. Der Schlagabtausch zwischen den beiden Protagonisten hat mir gut gefallen und mich immer wieder zum schmunzeln gebracht. Das Buch ist sehr humorvoll geschrieben. Leider sind die beiden Hauptpersonen eher oberflächlich beschrieben und die Charaktere werden nicht sehr tiefgründig beleuchtet, sondern werden eher über Äußerlichkeiten charakterisiert. Das Buch hat ein bisschen Spice, wer das gerne mag kommt auf jeden Fall auf seine/ihre Kosten. Inhaltlich ist es allerdings eher mittelmäßig.

This book is good for a person who is beginning their reading journey, it is wholesome, cute and the writing is easy to read so that it only took me one sitting to read it. My personal favorite part of parts about the book is just them bickering and really trying their best to hate each other. I do have to say that for me this was a one time read and I’m not planning on reading it again. Also I did enjoy the movie more than the book but everyone has a different opinion on that.

Well, this started off pretty good but then it got worse real quick. The characters fell flat and the protagonist was so shallow and such a hypocrite? She objectified Josh so much even though he had stated that he does not like that. Lucy just ignores that and keeps doing that but at some point she changes her mind and is angry at someone for objectifying him? Girl, you did the same?? The hypocrisy. I really liked Josh though and felt so bad for him. I loved the breakfast scene because it was so satisfying. However, the end was a bit rushed and the most important plot point didn't get covered at all. So that was a letdown. There wasn't a plot (except for the romance plotline) in the first place. I could think of three other points that could have been handled (Lucy's parents, Josh's parents and work) but there was nothing.

Lucy war mir oft zu anstrengend und hat zu viel falsch verstanden und sich selbst im Weg gestanden. Das letzte Drittel fand ich richtig richtig toll hätte mir das Ende aber noch etwas weiter ausgebaut gewünscht. Einige Storylinestränge waren mir im Verlauf nicht ausgearbeitet genug und zu kurz gehalten. Hatte aber richtig viel Spaß beim Lesen
