This one was a feast for my heart! All the Jude and Cardan moments we were given? The unfolding deep dive of Oaks personality and past? Soft moments with Maddoc? I loved it all from start to finish! Something I do have to say though is that Oak and Wren felt a little too hot and cold for me in this book. All of a sudden Oaks fascination with Wren has turned into deep and senseless devotion and there wasn't really an explanation for that except that "she gets him on a deeper level". Meanwhile Wren felt a little too easily manipulated by Bogdana after it has been established that she is powerful and cunning. But all in all I am extremely sad to leave the world of Elfhame once again and I am hoping that one day, we might all return back to it!

This book was all over the place. Literally. I think there was nowhere they didn't visit at some point or other during their adventure. This felt like a really long story because of it complexity but not in a way that made it exhausting to read. I really enjoyed Oak's perspective and that about half way in Jude and Cardan joined the mess. With this family you just never know who is plotting what exactly. Oak made an excellent point once, about how in a world full of schemers and omissions, the truth can be not only armor but also a weapon...
