Wellllll
It was alright. I had higher expectations after loving the cruel prince trilogy so much, but it just didn’t hit the same. But it was a easy and quick read therefore I still enjoyed it :)

My mind? Blown.
I actually enjoyed the book more than I thought I would! People said I would hate Oak but I didn't I get why he did the things he did, no hard feelings. The twist I saw coming in the last 3-4 chapters, it was so good!🤯 I'm going to read Prisoners throne now
Holly Black apparently has a thing for wicked heroines, and honestly, I kind of like it. The story didn't unfold as wildly as Jude's, with a surprise behind every corner, but it was intriguing nonetheless. Wren is starved for love, it's all she ever really wanted. When she finally thought she might have a chance at it, she was so brave to trust Oak. I fully understand that she went mad after being betrayed yet again. The twist of his betrayal I saw coming from miles away, but what I was unsure of was how she'd react. The end was epic. "I can't pretend that I don't like the sound of him screaming my name" gives me shivers. Now the question is, is the power going to go to her head? Turning her into a cruel captor much like Jude was when she first gained power over Cardan? Or will she reign with compassion, just refusing letting her guard down around Oak? I'd enjoy to see Wren be a beloved Queen from the get go. While I liked all the politics in the prior series, I hope the second book focuses a little more on Oak trying to win her trust back and less on his family waging war over him. I expect we will hear from Bex again as well, there's going to be a reunion, probably forced by Jude one way or another, and a moment right out of the Frozen Movie. The love of a Sister curing her frozen heart...
Etwas langsam
Wrens Past 💔
It took me some time to get into it, but in the 2nd half, the book really got me. I LIKE Wren a lot, and it won't be able to top the Elfhame Books, but still, I am very interested in how the next books is going to continue. Wrens Past was so tragic and dark. If you missed the Faerie World, you gonna enjoy the book. And this cliffhanger.
a little bit slow
just like tcp we start slow, but the pace picks up a lot, when wren and oak arrived at the citadel. the cliffhanger and plot twist was very good tho!!
I absolutely love this series. A good continuation from the OG Cruel Prince. I like Wren a lot and Oak is growing on me. Good tension and a cohesive story. Excited for the next one ☺️
Suren my girl go!! Kill all your enemies! Can’t wait for the next book and seing her as the queen that she is!! "I can't pretend that I don't like the sound of him screaming my name." A lot of people are so disappointed in oaks behavior and character development. I really don’t see that. He’s still a good person and did all he could for the people he loved. He tried to protect Suren all the way, even though he wasn’t always honest with her.
So… i don’t know why but I couldn’t finish this book. I really struggled to follow the story. Although I loved the cruel prince trilogy, this one wasn’t for me
I won't lie, I avoided reading this book for a year and a half because I was a teensy bit scared it would taint the magic of The Folk of the Air trilogy for me. But oh how it did the opposite. Once I started reading The Stolen Heir, I could not stop. Returning to this deliciously dark fantasy world was so easily done. I had such an amazing time while reading. The story itself had me hooked immediately. It was rather fast-paced and for fans (and to-be-fans) of the original trilogy extremely captivating. The characters were so loveable as well. Especially Wren might be one of my all-time favorite characters. I have now adopted her, she is now my child. Her point of view and how she sees certain things were so delightful to read. I think I would read anything if it was written from her perspective... And seeing Oak being so grown up now, aaah that had me so emotional. He is not a child anymore ;-; This book is definitely more enjoyable if you have enjoyed The Folk of the Air trilogy.
This book was the most positive surprise. Just as captivating as the original series; Holly Black books are always a good idea. It was so much fun to go back to Elfhame! Again, anytime :)
I have long struggled if I wanted to pick up "The Stolen Heir" or not. I loved "The Folk of The Air" trilogy and was less interested to see side stories and spin-offs than to reread the series itself. I do not regret finally having picked it up, though, even if I don't love it quite as well as the original trilogy. Despite stories where the characters travel for most of the story are not my favorite, I enjoyed the plot they followed on this quest, but especially Wren's character and how she struggled between the human world she grew up in, but could never go back to, and the fairy world she was also part of, as well as the abuse she suffered at the hands of her biological parents.
Holly Black just has a way with writing characters, they’re unmatched. It felt so good to be back in Elfhame, I truly missed it!
Oh my god. Holly Black did it again! Nix, Naught, Nothing. That describes what I didn’t like about this book. It’s just so good! I’ve waited to read it until the second book was published (so I could binge them), so I’ve only come around to read it now. It’s different from the cruel prince. Oak is nothing like Cardan, Suren is not like Jude. Still, their chemistry is sizzling and unique. Reading this didn’t feel like Holly Black tried to create something like the ‘the folk of the air’. It’s in no way a knock-off. This book is its own thing, absolutely awesome. Suren was a very unusual character but it was interesting to read from her perspective. She’s wild and strong, but also paranoid. Which makes sense, considering her past. Oak is a charmer, oh boy. It’s kinda weird to see him all grown up. In my mind, he’s still the little boy from the cruel prince. But he was kinda attractive in his own way (nothing beats Cardan tho xx). The plot twist at the end of the book was CRAZY. I did NOT expect it AT ALL. I didn’t anticipate it and I never would’ve guessed it. But it’s truly a genius move. I’m really excited to read the next book. I’ve had so much fun with this one (I properly annotated it yay) and I can’t wait to see what’s going to happen with Oak and Suren. Absolutely amazing!!
it was good but i don’t recommend reading it 2 years after reading the original Folk of the Air books. had me struggling because of that dunno if i am going to read the second book of oaks storry.
Das Ende - ich kann nicht mehr!! Ich liebe Holly Black einfach.
I really enjoyed the book. It's a bit different from the triology, but it gives the same excitement! I really love Suren and how she changed through the book. Also, Oak is completely different as a grown person than I imagined what he would become, so it was really interesting to get to know him!
Intriguing and fastpaced
What a great way to return to the world of Elfhame! I loved the relationships between all of the main characters. Wrens story is heartwrenching but suits this universe so well. With an unexpected twist at the end! Also liked the voiceacting very much.
I am a little disappointed that Jude & Cardan didn’t appear once, but the story itself was interesting and took an unexpected turn at the end. Looking forward to the next one!
It was good to return to Elfhame. I liked Wren and her tragic story. Will surely end the dilogy soon.
I actually really liked it at the beginning but wtf was that end, also did anybody have any personality
Suren and Oak - having lived very different lives after the battle of the serpent - meet again and go on a journey to the Court of Teeth. Both seem to have the same goal: end Lady More and her strange army. And despite their fleeting familiarity, their adventure is filled with truth and lies, trust and betrayal. Suren is constantly torn between trusting her childhood friend and trying to uncover the charming tales that come out of Oaks mouth. SPOILER: Damn Suren, now please don't take after Lady Nore and make Oak hate you ... its giving slow enemies to lovers and I am now awaiting the arrival of Jude and Cardan.
3.5/5 Suren and Oak - having lived very different lives after the battle of the serpent - meet again and go on a journey to the Court of Teeth. I do not know what kind of sorcery Holly Black uses to write her books, but she manages to pull you into her stories like not many authors are able to. It is the perfect mix of world building, plot and character development. I loved Wren. I loved seeing her grow and fight her demons. I was hesitant at first whether i could get behind a grown-up Oak, but seeing him through Wren‘s eyes was so interesting and such a nuanced point of view. I ATE UP those sneaky little mentions of Cardan and Jude and seeing how other people viewed them? Immaculate. This book was also a whole lot more romance and "oh, i long for this person so much, i may die“ - focused in my opinion and since I am a hopeless romantic at heart, this filled me with so much joy. In conclusion: An absolute slay of a book.
Now I’ll have to wait a year for book 2????? Have mercy.
I love them. But I love Wren more.
I like the story of oak but I want more of Jude and cardan
As I already said I love Holly Black and especially everything in and around Elfhame. The folk of the air series is my safeplace in form of books and I was really looking forward to read the stolen heir and I really liked it. It felt like I was reading the cruel prince for the first time again. Jude, Cardan and all the other great little storylines and characters were mentioned and everytime i giggled and got all excited again. The story was great and I really liked the character development, But somewhere halfway through the book it felt a little long and in the end everything happened really fast. But the plottwists were great . Overall amazing as always!
4.5 Stars What a book … and this ending?!?! I knew I should've waited for the second one before reading it!!
4.5 - the book had its length and therefore was a bit tiresome but all in all it was amazing. just being back in elfhame with its magic felt like coming home. I loved the little bits about jude & cardan and oak & wren have great chemistry. I appreciated the character development of wren - especially towards the end of the book. I’m here for evil and mighty wren! the sequel better come soon.
Das Buch in drei Worten zusammengefasst? = OH. MEIN. GOTT. = Oh mein Gott, was passiert hier gerade?!?! Holly Black schreibt episch. ♡
Normally I need time to get into the book but this wasn’t the case here(actually with everything that holly black writes)I was hooked from the start, and the end baffled me.
2.5 ⭐️ quest storylines aren’t really for me. that’s why the book felt really slow and i didn’t really care for the ending
