This Book made me feel all sorts of emotions. First I want to say: This one is so so worth it.
. The Book gave me great insight into the feelings of Adah as a black woman in 1960's London. From her childhood in Nigeria to her dream of becoming an author in London. Her dreams paired with a lot of struggles and cruelty she faced made this a very emotional read. I'm unsure if my own identity as a woman also made me emotionally invested into Adah's story. Being trapped in a cold marriage and trying not only to fend for yourself but all your children seems like one of the greatest challenges. What fascinated me however was Adah's character, she was really strong and stood up for herself whenever she could. The self growth she had on top of her personality was truly inspirational. 𝗪𝗵𝘆 4.5 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘀? ⭐ (Slightly Spoilery) I nearly gave this one 5 Stars because it is just a brillaint book. The only thing that made me take off 0.5 Stars was the ending, I really wished there weren't so many open plotlines. I enjoy an open ending but it was a tad bit abrupt for me.
