Adorable story, the characters grew on me. The book is written in a nice and easy english, which I enjoyed a lot since english isn’t my native language. :)

Liked the book a lot. Especially as a Trans teen myself I could relate to a lot. It was very interesting and I always had to keep reading to find out how it would continue :)
wholesome but could’ve had a better ending
update after reread: randomly decided to reread this because i’m in the worst reading slump ever and finished it in one sitting. i loved this even more than the first time i read this, if that’s even possible. Why would you end it like that ??! Nooo Anyway, it’s been a while since I completely lost myself in a book like I did with this one, I even lost track of time. This book is absolutely amazing and it’s definitely one of my all time favourites. I loved the representation in this book and I think that we still need more trans/non binary representation in books/tv. I was literally flying through this book and I didn’t want it to end. Can someone write a sequel please?
Oh, I did NOT expect to love this book so much! I completely binged it in one day. Despite featuring some serious topics - coming out, the role of religion in LGBTQ+ youth, and non-accepting family members - I still felt so much joy. I really loved the dynamics in Spencer's soccer team, and it reminded me of another YA novel, [b:Running With Lions|37830514|Running With Lions|Julian Winters|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1519415629l/37830514._SY75_.jpg|59512644]. Apparently, YA novels about soccer teams is my new favorite niche! I loved the relationships, I loved the humor, and I loved the characters. There's absolutely no toxic masculinity among the characters, and it seemed so realistic. Even Theo, Spencer's younger brother who's autistic, didn't seem to be a caricature of autism. The representation in general was amazing and I adored every single character. I honestly struggle with writing this review. I loved this book and I think I found a new favorite author.

Eine gelungene Young Adult-Lovestory über Spencer, der aufgrund von Mobbing an eine andere Schule wechselt. Dort tritt er dem Fußballteam bei, in dem auch der attraktive Justice spielt, dem er plötzlich immer näher kommt. Doch niemand dort weiß, dass Spencer eigentlich trans ist, was jedoch zu einigen Problemen führt, durch die er sich entscheiden muss, ob er bereit ist, sich öffentlich zu outen und für seine Rechte zu kämpfen. Der Schreibstil ist in der Erzählerperspektive verfasst und liest sich wirklich sehr angenehm und leicht. Auch in die Story kommt man schnell und gut rein, da sie echt unterhaltsam ist und die richtige Mischung aus unklischeehafter Lovestory und anderen interessanten, zum Teil ernsteren Themen bietet, ohne, dass das die Stimmung vermisst. Die Charaktere sind dabei ebenfalls relativ sympathisch und man verfolgt ihre Liebesgeschichte und ihre Weiterentwicklung sehr gerne, gerade da es durch die Fußballmannschaft auch eine schöne Portion Team Spirit gibt. Insgesamt also ein echt unterhaltsames, empfehlenswertes Buch für alle Fans des Genres, in dem auch auf sehr gute und authentische Weise Transsexualität thematisiert wird.
