Can‘t believe I never read the series before. Well, I‘m hooked now and will finally do so.

Ich liebe diese Reihe einfach total! 😻
Es war RICHTIG geil! Noch besser, als Teil 1 würde ich sagen. Wuhu!
these characters are my literal babies
It‘s more like a 3,6⭐️ - again I loved the sassy characters, the dialogues and the world building but sometimes I just realize that maybe I’m a little bit too old for this story and that’s why I often find it predictable and from time to time even boring. Especially the first half didn’t really get me but nevertheless Rick Riordan is just such a good storyteller. You just can’t put the book down and that’s why I’m starting with the next book right away 💁♀️🔱
what else did you expect guys?
Boy dreams of his friend in a wedding dress multiple times (looking forward to seeing that in the show) and has to rescue not only him but a girl who is a tree.
I really liked this book. I would say it's better than the first one. I loved Dyson he was so cute . I still don't trust grover for the life of me for some reason.Feelt bad for clarisse with the whole ares thing, and she was only likeable while being unlikable at the same time. The scene with the Sirens when percy jumps after annabeth and takes her underwater to save her OMG THAT WAS SO CUTE.
I didn't enjoy this book as much as book 1; it was quite short and felt a bit rushed... But I just know that it is going to get better storywise, so I am really excited to continue this series. The Sea of Monsters gave us so many neccessary explanations concerning the prophecy of the kids of the Big Three, explaining the "masterplan" of the villain, exploring Percy's powers, strenghtening the friendship between Percy, Grover and Annabeth, and introducing Tyson. It basically gave us the knowledge we will need for the following books and prepared us for the battle, which is really important; but like... it just wasn't as exciting as book 1. I could remember most of the plot (partially thanks to the horrible movie adaptation) so no surprises there for me. Rick Riordans dialogues are amazing and I love all the jokes and banter. His descriptions are alright... which is why I am so excited for the new series because I just know the books would work amazingly on screen!! And I will never understand why the titles of book 1 and 2 are different in German - the other titles are literal translations. The Lightning Thief became "Thiefs at the Olymp", which you know, does make sense. But The Sea of Monsters got translated to "In the Spell of the Cyclops" and yes, cyclopes are part of the book, but it gives the book a totally different focus.
Toller 2. Band!

1. The Lighting Thief: 5 ★ 2. The Sea of Monsters: 4 ★ 3. The Titan's Curse: 4 ★ 4. The Battle of the Labyrinth: 4 ★ 5. The Last Olympian: 5 ★
oh my god this was INSANE. i did not want to put this book down once and i devoured it within a day. can’t wait to meet more characters i heard so much about in the next one especially thalia!! 4,5 stars ⭐️
Glaube mir hat einfach was gefehlt
When I was younger, Rick Riordan was one of my favorite writers. I still follow his work today. Because of a work for university I read "The Sea of Monster" again. It's not like I suddenly find it worse. It's more about me growing up. The book is still entertaining, humorous and exciting, but it doesn't captivate me like it used to. I think that, despite my love for Percy Jackson, I am gradually becoming too old for Rick Riordan's books.
* 3.5 stars! I feel like this one wasn't as strong as the first book. And honestly, I couldn't warm up to Tyson as a character. And there was just too much of Clarisse and not enough Grover... Yet I stil adored this book. The story is so much fun and they're such a great and easy read (which may be due to the fact that they're kids' books but shhh...) It absolutely killed me when Circe transformed Percy into a guinea pig due to all men being pigs. It really made me chuckle while also taking a long, intense look at my own guinea pigs. Are they...? The end with the fleece, however, shook me. I can't believe I've read this series before and completely forgot that Thalia isn't a tree anymore! The fleece healed her and she's a human! Mind blowing, for sure. What a cliffhanger! I just adore this series and I already started the third book. So excited for the rest!
shoutout to this one tiny kid on spotify for reading this entire book because i’ve been sick and i cannot read for the life of me. anyways, same as the first one. fun but also a bit boring because i saw the movies as a kid so nothing really surprised me
I loved this so much! Can’t believe I’m just now reading the percy jackson series, it’s sooo adorable and awesome!!!
Re-read June 2019: I appreciate this book more and more every time I read it. I love Tyson and the messy quest, the little details like Polyphemus sheep obsession are great and it is just so much fun!
Great Humor, but felt like “let’s do book one again, just different” - but I’ve got great hopes for the third one.
--- Songs • Underground (Cody Fry) •Born for this (The Score) --- ~Ayla
Liebe. Liebe. Liebe. Und die ganzen side plots!! hach
I have to be honest with you: I tried to read this book several times, and it never really grabbed my attention. I had to force myseld this time ro pick it up again and read it. I did enjoy it though. Rick's writing is great and really hilarious. I did like most of the characters, although I kind of just can't get along with Anabeth. Percy however was great and I also really enjoy Lukes characters tbh. I will continue with the series in the near future I think. 4/5 ★
Probably the worst book in the series
Es war RICHTIG geil! Noch besser, als Teil 1 würde ich sagen. Wuhu!
halia's tree is dying, and the magical borders protecting the camp are failing. The camp is under attack by monsters. To make matters worse, Chiron has been fired, and the new activities director is cruel and sadistic. Life is at camp is not pleasant, but soon Percy, Annabeth, and Tyson are off on adventure to find the Golden Fleece and rescue Grover. Along the way they must contend with monsters, a sorceress, pirates, Luke, Clarisse, cyclopes, and the usual assortment of gods.
There are good news and bad news for Percy. Good news: hurrah! He made it through the seventh years without accidents! Bad news: monsters chose the very last school day to cause him trouble. Half a dozen monsters appear randomly at school disguised as new students and they join the school's bully in his fight against Percy. Sometimes it feels like Percy doesn't know how to be a demigod outside of summer and Camp Half-Blood. The kid can't smell the monsters right before him until Tyson speaks up and they start trying to kill him (as they always do). I had completely forgotten that it's in this book that Percy learns he has a half-brother, Tyson (who is a cyclops), so I kept waiting for him to give me a rundown on him, as he usually does. But he has no idea who Tyson is in the beginning, only what he told him, which is an odd and sad story, but still within the human parameters. When monsters go after Percy, and he is defenceless since he left his sword in his jeans, Tyson saves him, going toe-to-toe with monsters. Percy is in awe of that and super worried, but then Annabeth joins the fight and helps vanquish the last of the monsters. (Of course, the gym destruction's fault falls on Percy.) He doesn't even consider that there may be something different about Tyson until it's staring down his nose! And why is Annabeth there, you wonder? Because Camp Half-Blood is in trouble (when is it not?) and that also pertains to the weird and worrisome dream Percy had about Grover, his satyr best friend. Annabeth, Percy and Tyson take the oddest, least safe trip to the Camp possible: with the Grey Sisters (the Fates). They have only one eye between the three so you can imagine how a trip from New York to Long Island would be hectic. And they are constantly bickering and lose the eye for a few moments! When the taxi gets to Camp Half-Blood there are two mechanic bulls, very hard to stop and who have caused chaos already, at the top of the hill, having passed the magic barrier they were not supposed to be able to. Campers are hurt and a little burned and Clarisse, Ares's daughter, is there too, trying her hardest. But she doesn't notice Percy there so when he speaks to save her life, all he gets are shouted complaints to not save her life. She should have been at least a tad grateful, but okay. Things changed around the Camp because Thalia's tree was poisoned (by Luke, of course) and the defences against monsters are lowering more and more with the tree's death. Chiron, for example, was fired because of it. Can we throttle Tantalus for being a horrible man? Send him back to the Fields of Punishment? He's constantly calling Tyson a monster and, as the new camp director, has decided to re-implement the chariot races, with no regard for safety. In fact, if people die it's all the better for him! He's an obnoxious man. Percy, at first, isn't all that happy that Tyson is his brother and it takes him a while to warm to the idea. But Tyson has been nothing but good to him, his friend. Annabeth and Percy were going to ride a chariot together but they had a small (and incredibly pointless) fight that broke their partnership so Percy rides with Tyson. At first, all is going well, even with the odd pigeons gathering in the trees: Tyson is keeping the other players away and Percy is gaining ground on Annabeth. But then the pigeons from hell attack and its a chaotic mess as chariots are toppled over and people attacked viciously. Clarisse keeps on running, not noticing how bad it is for those around her, and so she wins the race while Percy and Annabeth run to get some music to drive the birds away so they can be killed. And so, and because Tantalus has it out for Percy, the two of them are blamed for the pigeons' attack. Like I said, despicable man. After being punished, Tyson, Annabeth and Percy join the rest of the camp, which is not in high spirits after the attack, and decide to ask for a quest. Since it has the purpose of saving the camp, everyone demands a quest, even if Tantalus doesn't want to give one. But just to spite our heroes, he gives the quest to Clarisse and imposes a curfew, to be implemented by harpies (who don't mind eating the campers). Unable to sleep, Percy sneaks out of bed to the sea, where he meets Hermes. He is a very nice and chill God, giving advice to Percy, asking him to tell Luke that he will not give up in his son (even if he's wreaking havoc everywhere), and giving him the means to go on this undercover quest with his friends to save Grover and the camp. The three of them ride in hippocampi to the ship that Hermes had pointed to and that also happens to be Luke's ship. It's a cruise ship so there are humans there, that are kind of like zombies, along with all the monsters. Kronos's sarcophagus is also there. After barely escaping with their lives, our trio finds themselves in Florida, in one of the hideouts Annabeth, Thalia and Luke made when they were on the run. But when Tyson comes back with a box full of doughnuts and they go investigate it, they are attacked by a hydra. They are fighting a losing battle when Clarisse and her merry band of dead confederates (Ares's children) come to their rescue and blow apart the monster. At the entrance of the Sea of Monsters, there are two monsters: Charybdis, at the centre of a hurricane who sucks in the ocean and spits it out, and Scylla, who eats people. Clarisse decides to try to go through the first one into the sea but their ship starts to fail them. Tyson buys them enough time to fire against the monster but it doesn't do it any harm, only makes it angry. And then Percy is picked up by the other monster as their ship goes back. The ship blows up shortly after people (Annabeth and Clarisse) get to safety. Annabeth rescues Percy from the water as they sail through the Sea of Monsters and the two head for Circe's Island, a tropical paradise (for women; sorry Percy). At first, it all seems nice. But then they meet Circe, get separated, and Percy gets tricked into drinking something that turns him into a guinea pig (according to Circe all men are pigs, guinea pigs are more easily managed). Annabeth is also a little seduced into a change, but comes back for Percy and saves him, turning him back to human. They then flee in Queen Anne's Revenge while the pirate owners try to stop them. On their trip to Polyphemus's Island, they pass by Sirens Bay. Annabeth wants to hear them (they tell you things about yourself and make you wiser), so Percy ties her up and puts wax in his ears. When she starts hearing them she begs Percy to set her free, cries, tries to get free. Eventually, she does just that and jumps ship. Percy jumps after her and just manages to reach her and pull her back into the water just as she reaches the island, where the man-eating siren vultures are singing. Annabeth thrashes and fights him until he pulls her underwater and away from the singing. They don't even go back to the ship until it's safe, rather staying in their bubble under the ship. Annabeth is kind of feeling miserable after that. When they reach the Cyclops island it all seems too easy until they understand that the sheep, the guardians of the Fleece, are more like piranhas. They go around the island to somewhere without the carnivorous sheep and see that Polyphemus has Clarisse dangling over a heating pot. And I swear I want to hit her when she reveals Grover's secret. The Cyclops then wants to eat him and marry her. While the monster is busy with the sheep outside Annabeth concocts a plan and Nobody comes into play. Annabeth gets seriously hurt and Grover has to take her across the bridge while Percy and Clarisse fight the Cyclops. It's a hard battle that they end up winning because Percy suddenly is rage-filled and almost kills the monster. But he can't, he can only think of Tyson and almost gets killed for it. But Tyson is alive, his hippocampus saved him, and he saves his brother. They grab the fleece and run to the ship, but Polyphemus isn't done with them and Percy and Tyson fight him again. After the barely won battle is done the hippocampi rescue them and take them to Miami, where Percy sends Clarisse home with the fleece. Luke chooses that moment to take them to his ship and try to kill them, but Percy tricks him into giving his confession to the entire camp through an Iris message (that he doesn't know is happening). Chiron and his cousins save them and bring them back to camp where, a few days later, the fleece works a little too well: it brings Thalia back to life. This book was a fun and short read, fast paced and just as great as the first one. This series is really good!
I forgot about the party ponies!!!! All the ponies!!!!
