Big John Green Fan here. First book i really struggled with to finish. The Protagonist is a prodigy. Every second thought is connotated with footnotes of explanations or mathematical structures. Couldn‘t Identify with it. Story was therefore pretty boring to me. But the ending was good and philosophical.

i don't really know what to think about this book. it was not that bad but i'm really glad it wasn't long & i finished it now. Through the whole book i was kinda confused and didn't quite get what it is about ... i mean, except for the dumping thing. i expected a funny story but then there were maths, formulas, graphs and all that stuff ... oh and i'm tired of katherines now - there were too many of them, it was just really confusing! All in all it was "okay" but i wouldn't read it a second time (plus: i didn't even read the appendix)

Ich liebe John Green's Schreibstil ja total und das war das letzte Buch von ihm, was ich noch nicht gelesen hatte. Hätt ich's auch mal lieber gelassen, sowohl wurde ich mit Colin nicht warm, als auch hab ich den Sinn der Geschichte an sich nicht verstanden. Diese ewige Wiederholungen mancher Themen haben mich fast wahnsinnig gemacht..

It got 5 out of 5 stars because it was simply amazing. I adore John Green's writing with every further book I read. They are always so funny and intelligent that you just can't help but love them. Personally I liked it better than Looking for Alaska, mainly because I liked these characters better. The appendix was really interesting (and made me remind myself of math in school but it wasn't bad). I wish the book would have been a bit longer since the ending feels a tiny little bit rushed to me but else it was really perfect.

I honestly have to say that I LOVED that book. John has such an intelligent writing style it fascinates me everytime I read one of his books, he's one of the authors if you ask me. And how is he able to always make me consider my life choices when I read one of his books!??? I even have to admit that I really enjoyed reading the appendix even tho I suck at math. It was interesting and explained a lot to me.

Generally I love his books and I enjoy reading all the craziness that his characters get up to but this was one book I'm not particularly in-like with. It just didn't quite hit me as an interesting read, and I found Colin a bit of a prick to be honest. Don't get me wrong, it was definitely well written and I'm glad it was as short as it was, but the story itself was of no particular interest.
