New favourite
Even though I found it hard to fully emerge into the story for the first forty pages or so, this novel has now become a new favourite of mine. First of all, I love Charlotte Brontë's writing. I don't know what it is about her writing style, but I enjoyed reading every single word and practically devoured the book. Also, the story is, although not fast-paced, quite interesting, as well as easy to follow and captivating. The main characters are all multifaceted and evolve during the course of the novel. However, they are not all completely unproblematic. In addition, the setting and atmosphere of the novel seem palpable, almost real, at all times.
