I'm not even gonna rate this... Not bc it was awful but it would be horrible to rate this story, especially since it's at least partially true
loved the writing style and the scenery descriptions…. the story is questionable but its a must read discussable classic… I bought another Nabokov book after reading this…
This book is something, it is sick, it made me sick by just reading it. It so interesting to see inside the head of a pedophile character but so disgusting at the same time

Uff, das war hart.
Ich weiß nicht genau wie ich dieses Buch bewerten soll, aber die wenigsten Romane haben mich so zum Nachdenken und Mitfühlen gebracht. Und in eine Schockstarre versetzt.
I will give this book generous 2.5 stars, the book was not that bad but I expected more. Firstly I had to drop it and listen to the audio book after the first part bc I found the writing to boring I could not read it anymore. When I listened to the audio book it remained boring to me. When I bought it I was hoping for a lot of disgusting descriptions the gut wretching kind, that hope was not fullfied the only really disgusting descriptions were the descriptions of the little girls or nymphets, how they like to get called in the book, but nothing much that wanted me to really keep reading that book. So yeah that book was sadly nothing for me
A disturbing but interesting story. What I really liked about the book is that it’s not romanticised like the movie. This is everything but a love story and the book makes that imo clear. Even Humbert himself (who’s a sick twisted monster) admits that in one way or another. Definitely not a story for everyone
Aufregend- hin und wieder verstörend-Pedophilie wird behandelt- sprachliche Ausdrucksweise des Autors sehr angenehm,eloquent- an manchen Stellen wurde es schleppend und langweilig
Lolita, Vladimir Nabokov 1.5-2/5 Though I’m not sure if I should put the on hold or def tag on it for now, because I really want to read this book but the reading flow is just not there. So it’s got to be a dnf for the time being. I would like to say it’s a rather dry read… Which it kind of is but isn’t at the same time? You definitely notice the humour described on the back of the book but still… Maybe it’s because there isn’t a lot of dialogue? (most of the story happens inside the main protagonist) I just found the portion I read rather boring(-ish) most of the time, which annoys me a lot, because I really would like to know how the story goes on, but at the moment I feel like it’s just such a struggle to get through. So frustrating… 1/5 because it feels just so hard and tiring to get through 1.5-2/5 because I actually still would like to know how the story goes on
