@ deutschsprachige Menschen hier: das kommt im Frühjahr 22 auf Deutsch raus und ihr solltet es nicht verpassen! High-School Enemies to Lovers mit ganz viel verschiedener Asiatischer Rep, Nerd Girl trifft auf Sportstar Boy; und feministische Bewegung in der Schule “Because feminism, contrary to popular belief, isn’t about hating on guys like me. It’s all about all of us working toward equality, together.” This was such a delight to read!! I loved the banter, loved the tension between Eliza and Len, loved the setting in the school, and L&E battling for the editor in chief position. There was a lot of asian rep; the protagonists were from/had backgrounds from Japan (Len) and China and Vietnam (Eliza), and other characters were from different Asian countries as well, like Korea (Serena). I highlighted so many quotes, especially about feminism, and I could relate to so many things in this book! We have an enemies/rivals-to-lovers situation, a great friendship group, lots of talks (and action!) about feminism and sexism, a "nerdy" girl and a "sport star" boy and I just love Len and Eliza with all my heart <3

Ich persönlich lese eigentlich kaum bis gar kein YA mehr, weil ich mich irgendwie nicht mehr mit den Figuren identifizieren kann bzw. Ihre Entscheidungen nachvollziehen kann, aber Not Here To Be Liked fand ich tatsächlich echt gut! Angesiedelt ist das Buch in der Highschool, bzw genauer gesagt bei der Schülerzeitung und als jemand, der selbst mal Teil der Schülerzeitung war, fand ich das Setting natürlich super interessant, einfach weil ich diese Grüppchenbildung gut verstehen kann und auch nachvollziehen kann, was für ein Druck auf verschiedenen Personen in der Schülerzeitung liegt. Total cool fand ich auch, wie in dem Buch auch Rassismus angesprochen wurde und das mal von jemandem, der selbst genau weiß, wie sich das anfühlt, weil Michelle Quach das selbst erlebt. Zur Liebesgeschichte muss ich wahrscheinlich eigentlich nicht viel sagen, das war einfach nur viel zu süß und ich bin mir sehr sicher, dass ich einen Crush auf Len aus dem Buch mitgenommen hab

I did not enjoy this book as much as I hoped I would. I liked seeing a kind of unlikable main character who in some parts reminded me of my past self. Eliza showed some character development and I really enjoyed seeing that. She changed her strict beliefs and got opener and more approachable. I liked Len a little more than Eliza but I sadly didn’t love him. Both characters made mistakes, I think Lens were a little worse than Eliza’s but he just got away with them. Their romance was cute but nothing special or new, it was a little rushed. But I still enjoyed their banter. I liked that they addressed important topics such as feminism and sexism but it felt a little plain and at some parts even crazy. The book could’ve gone more into depth with the topics but it was just focused on the sexism in their school. But other than that, the story was easy to read and fast paced due to Michelle Quach’s writing style, the chapter length was good too – that way you can binge read it. I enjoyed reading it but it was sadly nothing special, that’s why it’s a 3/5 star read for me. I’d recommend this to anyone who likes high school romance with a little enemies to lovers and feminism.
