Nicely written YA by an author who clearly knows a lot about theology, with Jewish, atheist, POC, lesbian and gay representation. I took away one star because I didn't find the resolution entirely satisfactory, but I would gladly read a sequel.
I had so much fun with this (audio) book. I wouldn't even have needed the romance, I think this book would have worked perfectly with "just" the friendship focus. Different religions are explained here and while the male main character is an atheist and the female main character is super religious, the main focus was on the characters being able to believe in what they want to believe, without describing any religion as superior to another. Kinda hard to put it into words, but yeah it was a fun high school book with the added dimension of it being a catholic school and struggling with that.
4,25* Ich mochte dieses Buch von Seite eins unglaublich gerne, vor allem die Charaktere hatten ihre Ecken und Kanten und wirkten dadurch real. Dieses Buch hat unglaublich viel Humor und vor allem Michael brachte einen des öfteren zum Lachen. Auch wenn man normalerweise keine englischen Bücher liest (so wie ich) ,kann man diesem Buch größtenteils sehr gut folgen, nur die ganzen Katholischen Begriffe musste ich zu Beginn übersetzten. Letztendlich kann ich dieses Buch jeden ans Herz legen, der im Sommer etwas zum lachen und gleichzeitig zum Nachdenken möchte. Eine große Leseempfehlung meinerseits!
