don’t read it when you’re struggling with an eating disorder right now
might be triggering for some people but it really depicts the truth! I liked it (it was accurate). P.S. the psychologist was very sympathetic ngl
5 ⭐ because it's amazing. This book follows 17 year old Stevie whose father sent her to a treatment center because of her eating disorder. But Stevie doesn't want to get better. She's got a plan. She's determined to die in twenty seven days, the upcoming first anniversary of her brother's death. I LOVED this book. It's definitely the best book about eating disorders I've read so far. I found myself in Stevie thoughts and feelings and I loved how it portrayed the friendships and experiences with others that come with being in inpatient treatment for a long time. I think the portrayal of the struggles and thoughts and anxiety that come while being in treatment was amazing. The topic of trauma and the consequences of it, along with the depiction of flashbacks was executed delicately and very good. I particularly enjoyed the relationship between Stevie and Anna, her therapist. Anna reminded me so much of my former therapist it actually hurt. Overall this book tells a sad but beautiful story and it's definetly a new favorite of mine. Trigger warnings for eating disorders, loss, grief, suicide, alcohol abuse, physical abuse
