But toward the end, the tension really picks up. The finale totally made up for it and pushed me straight into picking up the next book. ⁣ A dark, at times dragging, but ultimately gripping second installment with a strong cliffhanger! 🔥

This turned a lot darker than I expected, but that’s not a bad thing entirely. I’m sick of overloads of teenage romance and cliches in these kind of novels. Mare fights her battles for more than a romantic interest, at times overdoing it, but all the while questioning everything and most importantly herself. Even though there were parts where I really didn’t like or understand her, she still has my full respect for her choices and sacrifices.

i loved it, same as red queen. Victoria Aveyard has her own way of ending a book....and destroy every hope for a happy end that i hold so dear. I didn't expect this last plottwist and you know what is the most terrible thing? I'm not allowed to buy & read the third book in the series because i promised myself to first read the other books on my shelf. Cruel me....

Sooo hear me out… the first half i was kinda bored and i literally hated everyone. But as soon as shit started to go down i was hooked. Now to my controversial opinion: I really don’t like Mare. I do understand why she acts the way she does and it fits her character but god I wish she would listen to people that are close to her and not be so stubborn (and I know her action also are trauma response and the fact that she can not deal with her emotions) I don’t know it just makes me mad. Another controversial opinion: I hate Maven for what he did but I wanna see a redemption arc. I don’t think he is the pure evil he seem like. “no one is born a monster”. I think the true evil is his mother and I’m really looking forward to see what happens now that she’s dead. (even tho her death could mean Maven becoming more cruel) I’m just an villains girly what can I say. I kinda like Cal but ah I just wanna see Maven. (maybe I’m just being manipulated by him like they where but whatever). I’m just saying I believe the stuff he said in the first book “bering the shadow of the flame” etc. and again he grew up with Elara being his mother. She probably manipulated him in thinking this way and wanted to make her proud because he loved her I mean it’s his mom. Also I know he hurt Mare by branding her, betraying her and other things but all i could think about was enemy’s to lovers. Also the death of Shade touched me more than I thought and I’m pretty certain Farley is pregnant with their child. And I hope when Mare does find out it will make something with her. Like changing her character a little bit something like that idk. I didn’t like Kilorn and Cal in the beginning of this book but after finishing i kinda like them and their bond. Kilorn was just annoying and Cal idk I can just say again I’m a Maven girly and want his redemption arc. But Cal has his own problems and is complex i really like that and even tho he is conflicted with his morals I like how we got to see more of him interacting with different people. After all I think he has a soft heart and is a sweetly.

Very good sequel to Red Queen. I probably enjoyed it more than I did the first book as you get to really see what the characters are all about. It was nice to see that the main characters have a dark side and not all 'heroines' are good guys. Although she has the best intentions, Mare is out for herself mostly. I'm really looking forward to see where this is going to go with the last book in the trilogy coming soon. The last two were full of twists that I didn't see coming and kept the pages turning. Hopefully the next one will be just as great.

Puh, dieses Buch war leider nicht gut! Typischer 2. Teil einer Reihe - Lückenfüller... Nur das Ende hat wieder alles rausgerissen, vor allem die letzten Sätze! Ich denke der nächste Band wird sehr brutal und interessant. Zu den Charakteren: Mare wird zu einem negativen Charakter und das ist zwar wichtig für die Entwicklung, aber aggressiv hat sie mich trotzdem gemacht. Ich finde Cal war in diesem Teil wie ein Side Character, ich hoffe mehr von ihm in der Zukunft zu sehen. Einen Schockmoment hatte ich. da hätte ich eine Triggerwarnung gebraucht und zwar - Erm***ung eines Babys. Das hatte mir Bauchschmerzen bereitet und mich schockiert. Weitere Trigger: - Waffengewalt - Explosion - Stromschlag 3,5/5 ⭐

I have to admit that I had some difficulties with this book at the beginning. Maybe it was just my lack of motivation, but the first few pages weren't much captivating, so I told myself that I would go slow with it. BUT I didn't need time! Now, that I've read all of it, I must say: Yes, the beginning is a little bit time-consuming but once you're out of that phase, the plot quickens and it's such a joy to follow Mare, Cal and everyone else through shocking events, prison breaks and betrayals. I've not just once had my mouth wide open because you can never tell what's coming next. I'm in love with basically all the characters since book one and I couldn't be happier with their development - good and bad. For the last two weeks I couldn't lay this book down. I JUST HAD TO KNOW MORE. So, do yourself a favour and read it! And if you haven't read the first book of the series, catch up on it! You'll thank me. PS. King's Cage should be delivered today!

4,5 Sterne mit Tendenz zu fünf. Das war eine verdammte Achterbahnfahrt und das sage ich noch nicht mal wegen der Story oder den Emotionen , ich sage das wegen meinem Lieblingsship. Ich gebe es gerne zu , ich shippe Cal und Mare richtig extrem , die beiden sind einfach perfekt. Wirklich, wenn Mare ihn nicht nimmt , dann nehme ich ihn , er ist so toll, so verdammt toll. Um genau zu sein ist er damit mein neuester Bookboyfriend, weil kurz vor Ende Teil 1 hat er ja eine nicht so ganz tolle Sache gemacht und ist damit doch nicht zum Bookboyfriend geworden , aber jetzt ist mir die Sache total egal, also kann ich ihn ohne Probleme anhimmeln. So dann ab zum Schreibstil. Der war super , halt flüssig , fesselnd und leicht zu verstehen . Ich bin super und schnell durch die Seiten gekommen und hab mich in der Welt wohlgefühlt. Das ganze hatte ich auch gut/ bildlich vor Augen und hab mich insgesamt im Buch verlieren können. Kurz zum Worldbuilding das finde ich wieder mal echt gut und es ist auch nicht zu kompliziert. Als nächstes die Charaktere, ja was soll man dazu sagen , hab ich euch schon gesagt wie toll ich Cal finde, Bestimmt nicht. Spaß beiseite ich glaub das habe ich schon genug deutlich gemacht , deshalb sollte ich wohl nicht weiter damit nerven, ich himmle ihn einfach im Stillen für mich an. Dann mal zu den anderen , * es gab andere Charaktere

This took way to long to get through. I had to take breaks after a few chapters just because of the dullness, repeativeness and the lack of emotion Mare was giving as a narrator. Korrect me if I'm wrong (Mare wasn't that emotional in the first book) but except one scene at the end she was even more emotionless than in the previous book. Also she became kind of indecisive: One page she roots for Cal/says Silvers aren't that bad, next one she hates him/ Silvers. Get your thoughts together, stupid lightning girl. I saw most of the plottwists coming since the narration almost foreshadows everything! I didn't guess the deaths in the book at first but it became kinda obvious. The first half was slow and boring most of the times, mixed with the endless repeations of 'quotes' from the first book. It just felt as if these passages were added to lengthen the book. But this cliffhanger.... was really good. I think about reading the next one to see if it will become better (like the first one). I like non whinny characters as Mare is one. But since she still got on my nerves I will wait until I read the third one (and hope that I don't get in a reading slump WHILE reading it).

First book was good. Nothing special but I've enjoyed it. This book was boring. More a 2,5 Stars. But there is one major thing in this series what I really don't like. Mare thinks and behaves like a grown up. She is more like a 30 years old woman than the teenager with 17 years she is. That's a common problem with young adult books but in this book series it's really noticable.

I am super happy with how 'Glass Sword' turned out. We got to meet more newbloods, which I really enjoyed since superpowers are just awesome. We got to learn more about the Scarlet Guard, which finally doesn't only consist of Farley and her companions anymore, which I also approved of. And we also got Mare as a quite different protagonist, her development from the first book was huge, as I think, and to see the people around her react to that new person adds a lot to the story. However, 'Glass Sword' couldn't tear my heart apart with its ending, like 'Red Queen' did even though Victoria Aveyard did a fantastic job, with the maybe not very surprising (at least in some aspects) but definitely convincing and almost inevitable conflict she created at the end. It's simply that I was spoiled for the ending keeping me to be shocked and affected in the way it should have happened. Frankly, the whole story didn't excite and grab me as much as I had expected, but I just don't know why. Maybe it's partly due to my not being satisfied somehow with Cal and Mare's relationship. To me, it was not as important to the story as in 'Red Queen', which is not the problem. I rather felt like they were weirdly switching between how much they liked or disliked each other... Altogether, I really enjoyed this read, but I unfortunately did not love it.

Ich muss sagen der zweite Teil hat mir im Gegensatz zum ersten nicht so gut gefallen aber ist halt wichtig um den weiteren Verlauf der Story zu verstehen.. naja mir hat einfach das Leben am Hof besser gefallen als das was in diesem Teil passiert ist.. ich hoffe dass Band 3 wieder besser wird aber bin da guter Dinge da ich ein kleiner Maven Fan bin ✨

Wie schon beim ersten Band, fand ich den Einstieg eher mittelmäßig. Die Geschichte hatte anfangs definitiv ihre Längen und konnte mich nicht mitreißen. Das wurde ab dem Mittelteil zum Glück besser. Die Handlung hat endlich an Fahrt aufgenommen und die Protagonisten haben endlich etwas spannendes getan! Zum Ende hin sind so viele Dinge passiert, dass ich schon fast den Überblick verloren habe. Hoffentlich steigt der dritte Band nicht wieder so schwach ein.

Leider muss ich sagen, dass ich erst einmal Ewigkeiten dafür brauchte den zweiten Band zu lesen. Ich habe ihn schon ein paar mal angefangen, aber immer wieder aufgehört, weil der Anfang mich einfach nicht packen konnte. Und es hat auch bei diesem Mal gute 100 Seiten gebraucht bis ich Spaß daran hatte es zu lesen. Vor allem Mare hat sich seit dem ersten Band wirklich sehr verändert. Der Leitspruch "Du kannst niemandem trauen" verfolgt sie Tag und Nacht und ich kann sie dabei vollkommen nachvollziehen. Man erkennt ihren zerstörten Charakter und ihre Furcht vor dem Ungewissen. Aber andererseits wurde sie in diesem Band zu einer richtig guten Antiheldin. Denn auch sie ist skrupellos, egoistisch und zerstörerisch - aber auch etwas kopflos. Teils störte mich ihr Selbstmitleid schon etwas, aber das machte sie damit wett, dass sie auch selbst mit sich unzufrieden war. Die Atmosphäre in diesem Band war durch den nun herrschenden Krieg düsterer und etwas deprimierend. Für Lachen war hier keine Zeit und das teilten die Charaktere dem Leser auch offen mit. Es gab Schuldzuweisungen, Niederlagen und Verluste. Aber vor allem kann man in diesem Band nicht sagen, wer auf der richtigen Seite steht und wem man trauen kann. Ich habe viele Personen ins Herz geschlossen, aber durch die Schreibweise Aveyards bin sogar ich als Leser mir unsicher wem ich trauen kann. Ich mochte die Ausbildung der Newbloods und wie diese aufgespürt und rekrutiert wurden. Das Lesen dieser Passagen und die Beschreibung ihrer Fähigkeiten war spannend und aufregend zu lesen und macht mich auf die weiteren Bände neugierig. Aber vor allem das Ende war dann noch einmal dramatisch und enthielt einen ganz, ganz fiesen Cliffhänger, weshalb ich mich schon sehr auf Band 3 freue. Ich hoffe Mares Denken entwickelt sich noch einmal ins Positive zurück und ich hoffe auch auf weniger langatmige Stellen.

Dabei kommt auch ihr ehemaliger Verlobter eine Rolle, denn er will diese Menschen auch suchen und hat dabei nichts gutes im Sinn. Mare hat viel erlebt seit den Geschehnissen aus dem ersten Band. Auch die Gefühle zu ihrem ehemalige Verlobten, der gezeigt hat was er wirklich will haben sich verändert. Cal verwirrt sie immer noch sehr und sie weiß nicht wie lange er noch da sein wird. Mares Gefühle für werden nicht weniger. Doch dir ihn ist leider etwas anderes wichtig. Der Schreibstil der Autorin hat mich wieder ins Buch gezogen und ich war direkt wieder in Mares Geschichte. Wieder ist es die Kulisse die ich auch nochmals wieder für sich gewonnen hat. Das Buch wird aus der Sicht von Mare erzählt und der Leser kann sich so wieder in ihre Gedanken und Gefühle finden, die sie im Verlauf der Geschichte hat. Wieder war es die Kulisse, die mich wieder mitgenommen hat und ich sie immer wieder toll finde. Die Spannung und Handlung wird mit jeder Seite fesselnder. Nachdem Mare und Prinz Cal von der Scharlachroten Garde gerettet wurden in letzter Sekunde aus der gefährlichen Todesarena. Nun hoffen die Rebellen mit Hilfe der beiden gegen die Silber- Herrschaft heranzugehen. Aber Mare will etwas völlig anderes.. Sie will die finden , die wie Mare sind. Rote mit besonderem Silbernen Blut. Es wird immer intensiver, wem kann sie noch trauen? Denn ihr einstiger Verlobter ist auch noch hinter ihr her und will sie unbedingt haben. Ihre Gefühle sind dabei eigentlich völlig anders. Aber Cal der Bruder ihres Verlobten hat nur seine Rache im Kopf, wird es da noch eine Chance für Mare geben ? Wieder hat mich Victoria Aveyard mit diesem zweiten Band überrascht und ich dachte nicht mehr daran, das man Band 1 noch toppen kann. Mare hat sich finde ich sehr viel weiter als Charakter entwickelt und sie wirkt auf mich viel Erwachsener als noch im ersten Buch. Das Cover ist wieder ein Hingucker und macht Lust wieder Mare in ihrer Geschichte zu begleiten. Die Farben und auch der Schriftzug machen es immer wieder zu einem Blickfang im Regal. Das Ende macht direkt Lust in Band 3 weiterzulesen. Leider weiß man nicht ob noch ein dritter folgen wird. Ich habe regelrecht mit Mare mitgefiebert und bin sehr gespannt wie die Autorin den Abschluss dieser Reihe macht. FAZIT : Mit „Die Farben des Blutes, Band 2: Gläsernes Schwert schafft, die Autorin einen fesselnden zweiten Band ihrer Reihe geschaffen. Ihr Stil zieht mich immer wieder in die Geschichte und kann es kaum abwarten endlich den dritten Band zu haben. Spannung, Action, und große Gefühle.
