I have read this book a lot of times already, but I will always cheer for Theoden and laugh with Samwise and Gollum. Sam does get the best lines in this book, second best being Faramir.
I really liked the second book. It is a bit tedious to read especially when compared to the movie, but it definitely is worth the long read. My favourite part is the part when Faramir meets Frodo and Sam. The movie paints Faramir as a different man than Tolkien does and so I have to say that Tolkien's version is by far so much better than the one in the movie. I mean duh it is Tolkien's character so it has to be better than in the movie, but seeing that Aragorn was so greatly portrayed, it makes you wonder why Faramir wasn't. Anyways 'The Two Towers' just marks the middle of Frodos epic journey and I am excited to read the 'Return of the King'.
Listened to the new audio book spoken by Andy Serkis and it was amazing!
Klassiker. Erster Teil fand ich spannender.
Don’t get me wrong, I love LOTR, but I’m kinda glad this part is finally over. The chapters on Frodo and Sam dragged soo much imo, especially since I’m listening to it on audio. I mean, it wasn’t boring, but I had to listen to some chapters over and over again because I kept dozing off. I did, however, really enjoy the chapters on the rest of the now-broken-fellowship. Gimli and Legolas are precious and I was cracking up about some of the jokes. This story is not outdated by any means and hopefully never will be.
Diesmal hatte ich keine Schwierigkeiten hinein zu kommen. Es ist immer noch super interessant, auch wenn es hier wieder kaum Überraschungen gab. Die Geschichte von Frodo und seinen Gefährten wird immer düsterer und spannender. Mein absolutes Highlight ist und bleibt Baumbart. Ich liebte den Charakter schon sehr bei den Filmen. Nun bin ich sehr gespannt auf das große Finale.
FRODO ;__; Listen, it's been at least 15 years since I've both read this book and watched the movie for the first time. Most things this second read were hazy: I vividly remembered some parts, such as that awful mess with Boromir :( and the scene in the Dead Marshes and the thing with Shelob, but for the most part everything was brand new again. And I loved it. And now I'm running to ROTK, oh my god.
