I was aware of Tolkien's detailed descriptions and long journeys of the characters, so it was to no surprise to read the journey of the Fellowship step for step. Really enjoyed the book, the world-building and especially the dialogues. Unfortunately it has a lot of info-dumping and so many names are tossed at you that you cannot remember right away, often names that are irrelevant to this story. A map really helped to see where they are now; always handy to have that in fantasy books

Ich habe es geliebt auch wenn es einige länge hatte und mir teilweise das drumherum schon zu viel erklärt wurde habe ich es geliebt. Die Dialoge sind Klasse und die Lieder zwischendurch lassen es richtig poetisch wirken. Diese Ausgabe hat zudem auch noch wundervolle Zeichnungen. Wenn man die Filme kennt und liebt dann ist es definitiv ein muss! Ich freue mich schon auf den nächsten band.

All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.” For a book that has been so thoroughly and extensively analyzed, it is almost impossible to tell anyone something new that hasn't been said before. Tolkien has set the benchmark for anything that came since for the fantasy genre, and it is an infinitely rewarding work. Loved it even more upon this re-read.
