Eine wahnsinnig interessante Welt mit Magie, starken Charakteren und so viel Tiefe, dass man mitten drin ist. Die Protagonisten sind nicht gut oder böse, sondern versuchen in dieser komplexen Welt ihren Platz zu finden. Auch der Abschluss der Trilogie hat meine hohen Erwartungen voll erfüllt.

This was a really nice conclusion to the story. Lots of fun reveals, the world got even more expanded with awesome Lore and everything gets tied together at the end with a nice bow on top. I absolutely recommend everyone to pick up this series and get sucked into this beautiful lush world!

Eigentlich müsste ich dem dritten und letzten Band noch viel mehr Sterne geben können. Es war episch. Und zwar so richtig. Natürlich möchte ich nichts zum Inhalt sagen, weil es nichts gibt, was man dazu sagen könnte, das nicht spoilert 😁 Nur so viel: es passieren so viele Dinge, die ich nicht habe kommen sehen. Alles ist so schlüssig und gut erklärt, die Geschichte ist vom Aufbau fantastisch konstruiert und hervorragend geschrieben. Diese Reihe hat eigentlich alles, was eine tolle High Fantasy Geschichte ausmacht: ein großartiges Setting 🕌, eine unheimlich dichte und komplexe Handlung, sehr gut gezeichnete Charaktere mit Ecken und Kanten, überraschende Wendungen, ein überzeugendes Magiesystem, Freundschaft, Liebe, all the feels 😍❤️ Nahris Entwicklung habe ich hier ganz besonders gefeiert. Auch das Ende war nicht unbedingt 08/15 und ich bin sehr zufrieden damit 🥰 Ich kann euch diese Reihe nur sehr ans Herz legen, es sind zwar ziemliche Wälzer, aber die lohnen sich wirklich sehr 🤗

This has got to be the best finale to a series I have ever read. I am blown away and can only bow in awe to Chakraborty's genius. I feel like I'm gonna have the biggest reading slump after finishing this book but I have no regrets for binging the trilogy in a week. I am eagerly looking forward to anything the author decides to write in the future. Pretty sure this isn't the last we've seen of Daevabad and these characters, there's room for some epic spin-offs and I'm here for it. 10/10, definitely gonna re-read the series in the future.

Einfach magisch! Der Schreibstil hat mir wieder wirklich gut gefallen. Er ließ sich sehr flüssig und angenehm lesen. Gleichzeitig war er sehr bildhaft, sodass ich mir die Welt sehr gut vorstellen konnte, uns hatte für mich etwas absolut magisches! Erzählt wird die Geschichte dabei aus der Sicht von Nahri, Dara und Ali, was einem einen tiefen Einblick in deren Gefühls- und Gedankenwelt ermöglicht. Alle Charaktere wirkten sehr authentisch und wurden so tiefgreifend beschrieben, dass man das Gefühl hatte, sie wirklich zu kennen. Nahri, die mich mit ihrer unglaublichen Intelligenz begeistern konnte, und sich auch nicht so leicht einschüchtern lässt. Durch Ali erfährt man viel von den politischen Geschehnissen im Land. Er steht irgendwie zwischen den Stühlen, ist intelligent und liebevoll, aber auch pflichtbewusst, was teilweise zu Konflikten führt. Auch Dara mochte ich sehr. Der Dschin hat sich wieder direkt in mein Herz gezaubert. Die Geschichte hat mich abermals von der ersten Seite absolut mitgerissen, wobei der Übergang vom 2.Band hierzu leicht verständlich war. Die Geschichte war größtenteils wirklich super spannend und konnte mich auch mit einigen emotionalen Passagen begeistern. Jedoch gab es auch die ein oder andere langatmige Stelle, die das Lesen doch manchmal etwas anstrengend gemacht haben. Nichtsdestotrotz handelt es sich hier um einen wirklich gelungenen Reihenabschluss, der mich vor allem mit seinen spannenden Actionszenen begeistern konnte. Alles in allem bekommt das Buch von mir also 4,5 Sterne.

update 3 months later... yeah, I'm going down a star to 2. looking back, damn, what a shame. love the trilogy as a whole but the last book added too many 'what the hell' moments + some strong female characters with agency (sadly those had little screentime, looking at you Zaynab / Aqisa) + dara's arc was great and heavy, he kept me entertained and his scenes broke my heart. this poor dude, suffering *meh to negative feelings on the romance, Nahri/Ali was okay but way too forced and Nahri/Dara still had way more spark even though they hadn't exchanged a nice word since the first book * meh wrap up regarding Nahris father nice surprise I guess but whatever * neutral: story picked up after the 50% mark - in retrospect: such unsatisfying ends for the characters; I can understand Dara's end but he still deserved better should have had to work for that redemption instead of just pissing off and nahri feels like a prisoner which she never wanted... - first half was unnecessary long, Nahri / Alis chapters could have been shorter or some taken out --- haaaated the POV "twist" at roughly the 80% point. witholding crucial information from the reader that the until now reliable character knew for some shortlived tension... twice! also I have been on the edge of my seat the entire book waiting for a scene in which they had gathered all their sources to embark to Daevabad together, some last emotional rally before diving into certain death, only for Nahri rushing out "alone" which I knew was dumb and out of character for her and then be as surprised as the baddies once the whole crew shows up. Feels like the author attempted the Marvel: Endgame big scene but I only felt cheated out of high emotions - not a big fan of the "i have no idea how it worked" explanation regarding dara's rebirths - not a big fan of introducing new characters 75% into the story looking at you meddling peris?? - regarding Nahris name: Nahris enslavement with her name and her freeing herself solely because she's like "that's not my name" - what the hell? pretty sure other's would have come up with that - regarding the power of names alltogether: how do these names have any power at all? everyone knows e.g. Alis name is Alizayd al Quatani - couldn't anyone enslave him? even though we learn in COB that people do not give it out easily, they don't exactly hide it - also why could the old Nahids share the ring? why can't Nahri share it?

4,5⭐️ Epic! Argh, after one night of sleep, I have to take half a star away. I really enjoyed this finale but there are still so many questions unanswered. And after reading some reviews I beginning to see that it is not my somehow weak English that left me questioning some plot parts.

I have finally stopped crying. This was just everything, a great finale of this epic trilogy. Easily my favorite fantasy series of all time. The plot in this book was phenomenal, it had me in various states of emotional outbreaks, from laughing hysterically to lying on the bed wanting to scream with frustration/fury. We're given a villain I love to hate passionately, we're being introduced to new characters you just have to love, S. A. Chakraborty expands her exceptional world building to another level and the action scenes were written perfectly. What more can you want?! The ending had me crying with tears of happiness, sadness, grief and joy, and I can't believe that it's really over. I love these characters and this world so so much and I'm glad I can return to them whenever I want because there is no way I could say goodbye. And I want a shedu and I want it now :D
